@zenoist2 English is my native tongue. but how dare you say the sooner other languages are extinct, the better. Language is an integral part of a culture, and i pray to God (remember english native tongue) that the minority languages stay strong and uninfluenced by english in their respective native countries.
@Granvela speak english man . its the works universal language. nobody gives a fuck for french. or any minority language. the sooner its extinct the better.
@stevensonbak No, it represent napoleon before he was emperor and popular. In this scene, he fought wih royalists which were a threat to the french republic.
Don't think much of the lead actor but admire the script & cinematography here. Notice Napoleon's humanity; he refused to let the soldiers fire on the mob until the mob attacked first. A feature of his later career - he prefered to spare lives and even tried to pardon a German who came to assasinate him. Napoleon's valet remembered how many unfair/dubious sentences Napoleon reduced or remitted. "There is no power without justice" (Napoleon).
Actually, this video called "Tullerias"for "Les Tuileries Palace" show the repression by Bonaparte of an attempt of a coup by some monarchists organisations in Paris, on the5th Octobre 1795. Bonaparte open fire on these people when they were near Saint-Roch church. 300 victims fell this day. Bonaparte saved the Directoire and was nicknamed the "Genral Vendemiaire", because of the name of Octobre on the new calendar. The plot of the protest was to invade the "Tuileries"

Never forget that Bonaparte was not a democrat. The french where not asked their opinion when he did his "coup" on the 18th Brumaire. His skills as a leader were real, but he did not think much about his soldiers life. And he put his family on the thrones he had stolen from the countries he had invaded, with desastrous consequence-remember Spain. He made a fool of himself in Egypt too, failing to understand the muslim culture, and he abandonned his army to get his business done in France...
Well, we are left to suppose that everyone else enlarged its country's territory through diplomatic means only...and that results were always brillant (results for who, BTW ?)
