Gosh! I cant beleive this isnt a new band! I've never heard a 78 from 1929 sound like this! i love ur 20s foxtrotters film clip! Even shows a hot jazz band! AWESOME! Superb video!! Thanks for the delicious time trip back to the twenties. I'm stunned. Love the pyramid chord structure at :41. Sounds alot like Bix and Venuti on this. Wow, thanks for this remarkable video! All 20s jazz lovers will love this! You just trumped Edison and his disc" re-creations!" lol
This to me may be one of the most outstanding examples of written jazz, of all time. It's so lavish and amazing in so many ways. Such a gem. I never get sick of hearing this tune.
"cl" stands for clarinet, "as" stands for alto sax. Even though Jimmy Dorsey was known for his big band stuff, and was overshadowed by his brother in the big band era, he is one of my very favorite reed players from the 20's. Obviously he was playing written parts in this, but when he lets loose and improvises, watch out! I love his playing he did with Red Nichols on Edison, especially on 'Hurrincane'. Whew!
glad you liked my sound treatment. To make "musical" a transfer from a 78 rpm it can take me an afternoon or sometimes a whole day but then I have the satisfaction to hear the music properly. I assume you know the signal is treaten badly during the conversion from analogue to digital at 44.1 KHz, and saved in wave, then it gets even worse when resampled at mp3. This last one is again resampled by the youtube converters... my goodness.
OH, MY DEAR GOD!!! What a super AWESOME SONG & VIDEO!!!
