One nitpick: as a biologist, anyone who says that something is "the next stage of evolution" gives me a headache. Progress is not inevitable, we have to make it ourselves.
@VulcanFleet Also, I think a word that better fits your meaning is "change." "Progress" is a loaded term, and it implies that one "stage" is superior to another. This is inaccurate; each stage is only superior to another in relation to its success in a given environment. And of course, what one person may consider an improvement over things may not be the same as what another does.

One little nitpick: the Rapture isn't actually Biblical. It was invented in the early 18th Century, but didn't start to catch on until the late 19th Century.
"Happy Helicopter Hunting" really cracked me up. (And I'm a gun owner who sees no problem with helicopter hunting. ...But that was just too funny!) 5 stars..
no idea how close we are to this kind of scenario, but if it were to occur, just think of the state of all of our minds, all of us in some degree of mental unhealth. let's face it, culture is permeated with diseased minds. that's easy to see when we look at the environment, political and economic stability, and the deteriorating physical health of everyone on the globe. imagine all these minds merging, and being forced to spend an eternity there. i think i'll skip the ultimate upload.
we've squandered our "intelligence" for the sake of animal ego, imo, and i find the concept of a singularity to be somewhat liberating
as much as i'd like to think that mankind is slowly joining hands and moving toward carl sagan's utopian dream of exploring space and understanding our origin (which, unquestionably, bears infinite possibilities of discovery and enlightenment), we're shown time and time again that the elite in control serve only their own needs

@noodlenate Well, see, I said "Progress (improvement) is not inevitable." Change pretty much is inevitable. So we agree.
