when u downloaded it u also extracted the files from the rar file right? folder goes onto the psp into the game folder. folder that the files you are upgrading to should be named update.

dude, the exe didnt auto copy it for me. the drive was correct, instead of copying it into my psp, it copied into the exe folder. i decide to copy it manually, transferring all the new files into my psp. but i dunno where to put it. care to help?

a new plugin was just released yesterday to eliminate the need to redo those steps, so i am going to try it out later and maybe make a video for everyone.

if you turn off a psp with chick hen r2 then yes you will have to redo those steps if you turn off the psp or battery dies.

not the elite way, but it was made for people with an unhackable motherboard. v3 slim and the psp 3000 have a better mobo than previous psp model and only chick hen r2 is able to allow the use of cfw.

Hi, I've got a problem, I manage to have 5.03 chickhen R2 version on my PSP but when I try to reboot my PSP by pressing circle the PSP shuts down. when I turn it on again it appears to be in the 5.03 official version again.

you can keep trying and it will work, or you can put the tiff image into a folder named phat inside the pic folder on the root of the memstick, then retry

maybe you can help me, Ive downloaded the files and have ChickHEN r2 installed and everything, however when I run the "launch-me" file and do the needed things nothing gets added to my psp, I saw in another video some files are supposed to be added but nothing gets brought over, I'm connecting the psp in usb mode in the back of my laptop at route "H:/" and I dont get anything added across.

ok, if you have turned your psp off at all then you are back to ofw.

if it is chick hen r2 and you open the launch me, then choose the drive of psp. then hit ok. if nothing is transfered maybe try installing 5.03m33-6, let me know thanks

used your guides to great success until it got time to "press O to reboot on new firmware".

my psp didnt reboot, it seemed like it tried to but then it just turned itself off, and when i turn it back on its back to 5.03 official fw.

i load HEN again and reflash + re-try to reboot in Custom fw, but same problem.

nvm , browsed around the net and found many people with similar problems.

some site suggested using custom firmware enabler (CFE) version 3.6 and it worked. with my psp :)

no this one is not permanent. you will have to redo the hen and cfw if you turn it off or the batt dies. i always keep the files on just incase that happens. you can put it in sleep mode which holds the cfw on there. so just flick the power button off.

It does allow me to play homebrew, but only before I turn the system off. Once I turn it off, I have to do the method again. Is there a way I can do this method without having to turn the system off over and over?  Also it said that if I turn it off without resetting, I am in the custom firmware forever. If that happens, can I still change that? (like with an upgrade or downgrade of official firmware?)

you need to find out what mobo you have and hack your psp fully with hellcats recovery flasher 1.60. i have a tut on 1.50 on the 1000 phat which would work for you. let me know if you wanna try it to get the real full cfw permanently

Thank you for your response. What's a mobo? Also, I think I got it to work. Whenever I go load up Chickhen in the photos section, it flashes colours and resets. Then I can play homebrews. :)

yes sounds like you got it, but you can go a step further since you have a slim. you can use hellcats recovery flasher to get the same cfw i use on my phat. the one your using with chick hen r2, you cannnot turn off your psp or let batt die. just put it in sleep mode instead

maybe reformat the ms and re add the chick hen r2.

you will know it works when you scroll over the tiff image and don't select it, but wait till your psp screen flashes green and reboots, then it has worked

yes the tiff image is meant to crash the psp, but you should see a green screen, then the psp reboots and when you go to system info, it says 5.02 gen-a(full).

keep trying, and you don't have to select the file just scroll onto it.

because with the psp 3000 we can't use the internal memory, just put it in sleep mode, don't turn it off fully, or let the bat die unless you don't mind reloading it.
