That's right, no black bar and prob will never see that unless they upgrade, but i don't see that in the future at all. Our weatherscan is the only thing up to date.
There is no bar on the bottom. It's just a full screen of what they are showing. But they do show sometimes the white Texing of current conditions. But i have been trying to get a video of that, but there not showing it at all lately. But i will keep trying.
Yeah, I don't see any degradation either. The quality of the video isn't that good so some might mistake that for degradation. This is a 4000 that seems to be holding up pretty well actually. Wouldn't mind seeing more clips of it and others that are left.
Oh and just to let you know its a bit off topic, the Jr DOESNT have a beeping tone at all not even on the first time a weather warning is issued, so its a good possibility it will be discontinued.
When we have a weather warning, it does not beep or anything. It just shows the red crawler on the bottom of the screen for the whole time you're in the warning. Also, during the local on the 8's while under a warning, they only show your current conditons, latest oberservations, and then the radar for the rest of it. If it gets really bad, they will show a blue screen with scrolling warning. Also, they will keep the radar on while you hear the anchors in the background.
I think i know what your talking about. Now since we still have the 4000 for our cable, we don't get the black bar on the bottom. We get the old white tex on the bottom. I will put a clip of this up as soon as i can.
I'm trying to get a clip of the white tex on the bottom of the screen showing the time,date,and current condtions, but for some reason it has not been showing it lately. We don't get a bar at the bottom like the news one's do. We get that white tex.

4star, that was problary a EMULATOR. theres tons of emulators with the new logo. I choose WeatherStar 4000 way over Jr (i want the Jr to be discontinued) and i somewhat like 4000 better than XL, but i would rather have a XL over a Jr.

But I SOOO choose WeatherStar 4000 over Intellistar any day. Note that they have the old Weather Channel logo, also....one I saw had the new logo on a WS 4000.
Is there anyway you can post a video of it? I'm interested to see the few 4000s that are still actually being used. I live in the Pittsburgh area so we haven't had the 4000 here for about 6 or 7 years I guess. Thank God for the emulator!
Looks like TWC considers your town part of the Panama City Area.

My community (Marion, IN) not too many years ago stopped using WeatherStar 4000 and now uses Intellistar.

Also, i dont see ANY degration on this either. 4000 has no bar but has white text that scrolls giving the info.

shaneomac1986, it DOES beep. It does 5 times. Listen when you have a Severe Storm and you will hear a higher pitched 5 beep tone.

It doesn't, really. I was there watching it when there was a warning, and it didn't beep at all.

There is not any Degradation, i just hooked my camera up to the tv and recorded it. It's prob just the way my camera records off the tv.

Your so lucky that you still have a 4000! I've been in Panama City, FL before, and I've once seen a WeatherSTAR XL in that area in 2002.
