I`am an interlocker. When I got SL`d, I washed every week. They were clean, but It not aid in my loc process. I began to wash twice a month and my locs began to do their thing. I do not sleep with a cap, it makes me sweat and my scalp itch. When I do cover, I use a scarf so my scalp can breath. For the most part, I sleep on a satin pillow case. I cover my locs when I`am an overnite guest. You have to find out what works for your locs!

I have noticed that my locs like to be free and clean. I don't wrap them at night (but I avoid fussy pillow cases, satin is best) I wash them every week and I noticed they loc faster when they are clean and free of oil/ debris. When your locs can breath and sort of ruff up while you sleep they start to loc and bud fast.

i agree with supremedejhan...i recently started washing my hair a few times a week and i've noticed its been locing faster, however, if you have starter locs, you probably want to protect them from being washed out so you're gonna need to hold them down with a stocking cap or something. Also, i don't tie my hair at night, but i need to cuz i've been having some breakage lately.

I wash mine everyday... But, I'm a freeformer, not a manicurer... I would say at least once a week... Just put a stocking cap on your hair and wash and rinse through the cap... Water aids in the loc'ing process... Dirty hair does NOT loc faster... I don't tie my hair down either... I just sleep on a satin pillowcase...

If you keep washing your hair your hair will never loc, try Once month or every 6-7 weeks. I know it might sounds nasty but by washing you hair only makes you hair unrabble or come apart. When i first start my locs i didn't wash my hair for 3 months. I didn't have that prob "ichy scalp" My BF do, but i just keep his scalp greased. I just ran a rag thew my scalp until it became loc.
