  • Scorsese actually scratched the film up by hand to give it an older more authentic look. This is my favorite movie scene of all time.

  • One of the most beatiful scenes in any film in history, bar none. I love this film!

  • @filmnoirist i thought i was the only one that felt that way.. everytime i would watch with friends they thought i was weird because i felt that part with the music.. nice to know theres some1 like u out there!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, and beautiful

  • QUESTO è SPETTACOLO... QUESTO è SPETTACOLO...

  • Onlly 15,000 views.....thats a shame.

  • my appreciation is endless... although better seen wthin the context of the film, its great to have this montage close at hand... bravo

  • This is an example of great filmmaking. Scorsese transcends genre and brings us something elegant and real. Real people in real circumstances that we can all relate to. Melancholic. Heartbreaking.

  • Marty is the greatest director ever ...nuff said

  • Classic movie Jake La motta was a great boxer, Bobby is a great actor, and the music is wonderful!

  • greatest movie ever made. humanity at its essence

  • @thebleakaffinity Oh? Violent, stupid, jealous, narcissistic, venal, slothful, lustful? You really think that? You think that's how Maxwell was? Mozart? Washington? Goethe? Babe Ruth? Whatever.

  • Oh this part of Raging Bull (and the music) always sends shivers down my spine, it's just so beautiful, cinema at its best.

  • scene anthologie film culte l une des meilleures performences de bob de niro justesse puissance et cette musique cette musique decollage assuré!!

  • The juxtaposition of this music with 1940's - 1950's old world Bronx Arthur Avenue is nothing short of sublime. Sadly, this is a time and place that no longer exists. I was fortunate enough to have experienced this era as a very young boy and every time I see this clip or view Saint Martin's movie, I get a lump in my throat. Reminds me of when was a youth, sitting in darkness of living room, watching the Friday Night Fights on B & W TV with my father.

  • How about the football wedding on the roof?

  • where can i get an mp3 of this?

  • His only happy moment

  • This is the best editing I've ever seen. They show 3 years of story time in 3 epic minutes.

  • which is why its in color

  • once those opening credits roll, you enter hell and the only warmth you find lies in this scene, then welcome back to hell.

  • @DorkKnight1 AHHHHH get outta here!

  • Ture art.

  • yes it is! this might not be a great movie, but the music, and the way scorsse but this togther is just, wonderful!

  • the beauty of the intermezzo all over again. i say "BRAVO COMPARE PIETRO" thanx.

  • NO SPEECH..

  • Correct title of this music is "Barcarolle" from Mascagni's Silvano

  • everytime i watch this i get goosebumps. scorsese is a genius.

  • my sentiments, same thing here except my eyes well up.

  • Get the Raging Bull soundtrack. It's a 2CD set and it is fantastic. Literally every piece of music from the film is in it, including this beautiful piece.

  • HI, the sicilian,

The music is from RATCLIFFE "intermezzo",

    by PIETRO MASCAGNI.....

  • that's another piece,...

  • Scorsese is a genius.

  • In my opinion in a scale of "masters" and "discipules" it would be something like this:

-Brando, whose legacy was left for De Niro, who left for Di Caprio.

  • man this is the scene i first saw in the movie, i was about 8 years old, in a late night tv session. I fell in love with this movie right away.

  • Thank you Martin Scorsese for what you give to all of us. THIS IS SUBLIME

  • This is Thelma Schoonmaker at her best. This montage brought a tear to my eye in the way it was edited beautifully. This is probably editing at its pure form and it shows the art of story telling by this montage which is a difficult thing to do. The way it was chopped in fragments, still images, color footage, black and white footages, combining all of this as a timeline. The soundtrack makes it even better. This is one of the greatest movies ever and this scene is also one of my favorites.

  • tell me please.....

  • i just love this scene

  • someone please give me a link or something on how i can download this song

  • I can. Let me know your mail address

  • beautiful this film is a work of art! Poetic. It shows the happier moments in color.

  • What is happening in the opera while this part is playing? I don't know the correct opera lingo, but this is extremely moving.

  • best movie+scene+song+actors+director ever

  • the real name of the piece is silvano barcarolle orchestra of bologna municup thetra

  • MARTIN SCORSESE IS GOD

  • where can i get this song?

  • the best movie ever made. every time i watch this scene, it makes me sad in a way because this montage shows how they were all happy and then once Jake's jealousy and paranoia sets in, it just works like crazy.

  • Forgot to mention that the girl wearing the red skirt in the "rooftop reception" that De Niro kisses on the forehead is Scorsese's daughter.

  • That's beautiful, man.

  • Whats with the title FROM BARCAROLLE TO SILVANO though?

  • That's the name of the classical piece accompanying the montage - the Barcarolle from Pietro Mascagni's opera Silvano.

  • Thanks! ^_^ I appreciate it. ;D

  • Does anyone know where I can get an MP3 of this music?

  • I would gladly send you that, at least I'll try!

  • I can. Let me know your mail address.

  • I can.

  • Thanks anyway, but I found it a while ago. I appreciate it though.

  • This is one of the greatest montages in Film History, beautifully done.

  • I'd like to share a revalation I've had while watching this scene. In my opinion, I honestly beleive that the only reason that this montage was in color was because it was the only peaceful scene throughout the entire film. As you can understand that the rest of the movie is in B&W due to the anger and destruction that Jake Lamotta brings upon his life, along with the fact that it's also historical. I didnt realize this until after like the 6th time I've viewed it.

  • Really, one of the best fuckin' movies ever made.
