  • Very reminiscent of a part in the movie "The Social Network"

  • @MrKnnknn By the way the movie was made in 2010, AFTER this track was uploaded.

  • Awesome music !

  • The best JX-305 demo ever! I am very impressed.

    Good luck!

  • I'm really confused here... how exactly did you get the synth to do these things? I have one, but I really can't figure out how to use the sequencer.

  • E X C E L L E N T ! Great track !

  • damn i love this.... sounds like classic goa trance.... exactly why i'm looking for vintage synths... to bring back the oldschool trance sound :)

  • just fkn wicked :)

  • Oh man oh man oh man

Man oh man oh man oh

  • Nice track, I used to love my JX305, should never have sold it! very powerful synth but most people have never heard of it.

  • Nice track, I used to love my JX305, should never have sold it! very powerful synth but most people have never heard of it.

  • oh shit i want this right now. How much do they usually cost?

  • Great video, very inspiring! I just bought one of these JX-305 synths this week and am looking forward to learning how to use the sequencer like this. Thanks!

  • Cool, i want a Roland JX-305 GrooveSynth too, but dont know to get it.

  • Wow, great stuff man!! I own a JX-305 since it came out to market in 98', and until today i think its the coolest synth ever, great sounds, great handling....and soooo much fun to play!!!!

  • Fantastic

  • I am buying one of these today because of this video. Relatively inexpensive and obviously VERY capable. Nice track. You sold the instrument and I am a TOUGH sell!

  • @tcp2150 It was this video what made me buy the Roland JX-305. This synth is a bargain! The best £100 I've spent in my entire life. I love when people say it's a MC-505 with keys. It blows a MC-505 out the picture. I've owned mine for a year & haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do. This synth is a full blown workstation & puts most modern VA synths to shame.

  • @funkb0x Mine arrives tomorrow - feel like an expectant father!

  • @ 1:40, it sounds just like Donkey Kong Country... Those cool levels towards the end when you're in a factory... Just my thought anyway, sounds awesome!

  • That is awesome. I am waiting to get another 305 in the mail from an auction. I used to have one but times were tough and I had to sell it......That brought tears to my eyes....You play with heart man. really.......

  • Incredible piece.

  • sounds great man!!!

  • sweet tune

  • ja piernicze revela

  • just like the yamaha an1x this was and is a very underrated piece of equipment.

  • Incredible sound. Good job.

  • Excellent improvisation, I like to listen to it occasionally on youtube ... I had a JX-305 is the best keyboard I never had. Simple and effective, we can quickly mount a song. It is more difficult to make it sound big, because the sounds are a little less fat than the MC-303, but there is still a great keyboard.

  • Topnotch - I have a 305 sitting in my studio sound asleep, I think I'll wake it up and take it for a walk. regards

  • I wish my JX-305 still worked... damn roland for putting faulty ram in all of them and not issuing a recall!!! total BS!

  • WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF BAD RAM? I HAVE A JX-305 AND MY ARPEGGIO DOESN'T WORK NOR DOES THE MOD STICK SO I AM WONDERING IF ITS A SOFTWARE BUG? DAM IT OTHER WISE IS OK DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEA PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

  • @scavenom2008 anything can happen, the defective ram/chip is responsible for all interfacing. I've seen some people's lights and screen go crazy, others lose playable tracks/channels, etc. Mine would progressively flood all MIDI controllers w/ data. jx305s are ticking time bombs, once they once they reach a certain age (in hours) the defective chips start to fail.

Roland still makes the replacement chips, I think they cost around $400 + service/installation fees...

  • @scavenom2008 There are people who repair synths quite cheap if you search. Usually things can be sorted out with a bit of a clean & service. Over the years dust & grime gets lodged. Making buttons & dials stop working properly.

  • Great sounding track, am looking to get one of these synths, something different from the norm and perhaps an often overlooked gem.

  • I have one of this since 1999, bought new and still in my setup (studio & live). Thanks for this great performance!

  • love it :)

am in the process of buying one

  • Very nice song, I had this keyboard and had a lot of fun with it. It's a good tool to live performance. Thanks to share it with us!

  • Nice track. This is one Roland I don't know.

  • It's keyboard version of MC-505 (There are small differences such added patches and missing D-beam).

  • I'm noob, forgive me: The arpeggio fires off one key when held down right? But the arpeggio you create, is it fixed to same time difference between notes and do the notes have to be going up/down scales, or can you create a proper melody with the Arpeggiator?? Thanks!

  • The arpeggio makes scales from held notes.

  • if anyone has any doubts to buy a synth, THIS is just the definitive reason why you should buy it, very helpfull to discover some features, but an outstanding performance for an improvisation....L00M thumbs up man! awesome work

  • thanx

  • This is basically the MC505 in a blue keyboard body

Engine is same as MC505, based on the JV series

Groovebox plus keyboard in one was a great idea

Too bad Roland didnt make any more

  • Roland makes Fantom G that have similar engine like MC-808/909 ... i think

  • @L00m33r

    All the Groove series, MC303, MC505, MC307, D2, EG101, JX305, MC808 and MC909, were based on JV/XP series synth engine of the 1990s. MC808/909 just added a sampler.

Fantom, Fantom-S, Fantom-X, Fantom-G series engine are the next generation. Fantom engine is related to JV/XP in its basics, but it is not totally identical. Though some waveforms from the old JV/XP series are included in the Fantom.

  • @L00m33r

Actually, on second thought, i think only the MC808 might be more closer to the Fantom series than to the JV/XP series.. because MC808 was released when the Fantom-X was already released.. Roland has often re-packages the same technology in its other products if they are released around the same time. That is why MC505, MC307, D2, JX305 are all the same engine in different bodies.

  • Saubere Arbeit Super

  • hey Loom ! I have a jx305 now but i don't understand how to transpose live playing as in this impro !!

    please help me !

  • I didn't transpose in this video. Every changes are programmed in long pattern. (-:

  • ok many thanks for the answer. I will try it too sometimes !!

  • WOW! I really miss mine. Trying to buy it back (or another one) soon. VERY nice work on this!

  • SUPERB playing!!!

The Roland JX-305 seems hugely under rated. I love synths with beats. It reminds me of the EG-101 without the speakers.

  • Fuckin awesome!

  • So impressed with this sir, I'm going to buy your album.

  • Thank you very much, I hope you'll be satisfied.

  • YAY Iv got one of those, and i love it =]

  • very great. All the best from germany and go on man :-)

  • Thanx !

  • great Jam man great synth

  • Thanx !

  • Can you tell me how to combine the bender with the vibrato (modulation)function? Thanks for you answer!

    greetz Alfred

  • It's very difficult with Roland bender. If you need combine pitch bend and modulation you must use instrument or midi controller with wheels.

  • Great synth for `hands-on`.Had mine for a couple of years now and still havent figured out all the parameters! You can get some great grooves outta this.Nicely done!!!!

  • very nice filtered Arp!

    Have a nice Year 2010

    Greetings

    Roman

  • thanx ... PF 2010 for all !

  • Thanks to this Jx-305-video I too bought one.. : ) -Lots of buttons.. havent figured everything out quite yet. Especially the sequencer-patch-song-stuff is quite confusing : / .. As soon as I try to learn i just get stuck when I dial in the strings...so nice to just play I can´t push me further to learn the sequencer : )

Plz, need a Advice: When making a sequencerLoop, but want to erase just the notes, Not the soundpatches and everything else..how do I do that? (not the initilize-thingy.)

  • in Pattern Mode > Edit > Erase > Select Tracks > Page to right > Select measure > Page to right > Select NOTE > Enter, Enter (-:

  • @L00m33r

    -Thank´s!

  • @smithwesson629

    practice makes perfect

  • This is fantastic - I have to try out the Arpeggiator on this synth - seems like it has a lot more controllable variables than the motif.

Your pattern/tracks were well set up, too.

  • mint !!

  • Now that is the way to play an instrument. Great job.

  • ten start dost pripomina pisnicku Chateau z matrix reloadu:)

  • jen je trochu podobný rytmus basy, ale ne moc .. takže jsem naštěstí nic nevykrad .. (-: .. uff

  • very nice, I like it

  • cool, more similars songs. K

  • thanx za koment, na tom JXu se dělaj takové tucárny úplně perfektně, už se těším na RS-7000 (-:
