  • I found the best way to deal with Jehovah's Witnesses is to get them talking about something other than religion. I've been doing this for over thirty years and, without fail, I've managed to get them talking about themselves and their hobbies, and when they come by we just shoot the breeze about this, that, and the other thing. The fellow who has been coming by the past few years always has a story to tell me about motorcycle trips he's taken or trips that he is planning.

  • i dont know if you have a video on Mormonism but, if you haven't, could you do one?

  • In answer to you question about what one would like to see in your book.. if I may say.. put it all into a book.. I'd buy it.. I know exactly how much time you have invested in research because I spend forever doing it myself.. and I can only image the amount of time you've spent creating your videos.. wonderful job BTW.. very impressive, and very well done.. I would love to have a concise well formatted version of everything I've seen so far.. however I haven't seen all your videos.. yet..

  • @ClaudeusGothicus Thanks! I've done so much that if I put it all into a book format, it might be over 1000 pages, lol. I'm also not as happy with some of my older work as I am with the newer stuff, plus I want there to be a theme to the book, not just some random compilation of material.

  • Pierced from within album cover tattooed on my leg! Woohoo

  • Oh, oh, and here's a new question for you, Taylor: Once you've made your vids into a book, will you make a movie of it??

    :)

  • @Gnug215 Yeah, but I'll have to make a mystery plot out of it, possibly with a lot of absurd action sequences, implausible secrets hidden in ancient art, a cover-up conspiracy by the church, and a beautiful woman.

  • @TaylorX04 Will you be making sweet, sweet love to said beautiful woman, and enjoy a little unmotivated butt-in-the-moonlight-walk?

  • @Gnug215 Is that the uncut version of The Da Vinci Code or something? Wait, I don't care. Yes, yes I will.

  • @TaylorX04 Haha, it's actually a somewhat obscure reference to "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapons 1" (with Emilio Estevez), where the unmotivated butt-in-the-moonlight-walk-scene is a reference to "The Specialist" (with Sylvester Stallone).

    :)

  • Jesus was an illegitimate child.

  • The Islamic god is an evil bastard.

  • Hi Taylor, sorry this question is a bit late, I'd be interested to hear what you think about Truthsurge's series of video's "Excavating The empty tomb", where he makes a lot of connections between Marks Gospel and Homers Odyssey ( i dont think TruthSurge is the 1st one to make these comparisons, but they are seemingly quite compelling arguments that Mark weaved his Jesus stories from Homers epic adventures). Be interested to hear your thoughts.

  • @bonnie43uk I haven't watched it yet, although Truthsurge had recommended it to me before. I'll have to check it out soon.

  • I checked out that blessed with a curse song. Honestly, wtf was that? Painful. People actually listen to that? And there is a reason people do not get tatted on the plalms of their hands and the bottoms of their feet... Well, besides it looking stupid on most people that try it.

  • How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

  • @TaylorX04 17 is clearly false teaching. If you read closely and behind the lines you will find that the answer is actually 16.

  • Sociology brother! Do your best!

  • Here's how I deal with Jehovah's Witnesses..."Get the fuck off my porch!" ::slams door::

  • Suffocation shirt!!!!!!

  • Hey dude, what have you got on your pedal board? Any crazy fuzz pedals or distortion?

  • @Stringprodigy Not really. All I use at the moment is a Digitech box with some customized settings.

  • What was the first metal band you ever listened to? Because I have to be honest if I hadn't discovered Demon Hunter, way back when I was still a Christian, I would have never given any other metal bands a chance. Probably one of the only good things I got out of Christianity. Now I listen to pretty much every subgenre of metal imaginable but every so often I go back and check on those Christian metal bands I used to love.

  • @TitenSxull I'm ashamed to say it was Slipknot. There are also Christian metal bands I still listen to on occasion, some for the nostalgia and others because they actually did make good music. I'm not one to boycott music for the message alone, at least not since I've become an atheist, lol.

  • @TaylorX04 I still listen to Slipknot and feel no shame.

  • @thekwizatshaderach Granted, I haven't heard anything since "Iowa", but I plan to keep it that way.

  • @TaylorX04 Dude, always liked your stuff, very interesting, very insightful and very intelligent.

  • @thekwizatshaderach Thanks!

  • The theist you mention here are morons. That's why we don't listen to their opinion. (Except on YouTube.)

  • For your book, I recommend including a section on how the nature of god changed over history. People get swept away by the wonderful stories, not realizing that writers had centuries to perfect them for that very purpose.

  • And now back to homework! :)

    Miss ya face.

  • @Annamarie84 No homework yet. I need my grants to come through before I can buy textbooks. :-p

    Miss yers too.

  • About Bring Me the Horizon, I also dislike them, so it's okay to say that they suck lol

  • Check out Skeletonwitch if you haven't already!

  • @FrozenTacoMeat Already a fan. I have "Beyond the Permafrost" and even got to meet all the guys at a show a couple years back and have them autograph my copy. They were really cool.

  • Thx for the answer, I'm reading the article about james now

  • Hey Taylor. I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness and stopped believing it three years ago, when I was 23. If you (or anyone else) has any questions, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

  • I mention this is one of my videos, but my favorite way of dealing with Jehovas is simply that I have a piece of paper next to my door with two biblical passages on it, the first boils down to the bible's How-To guide on identifying true prophets from false ones (including making them drink poison so they can show they aren't harmed), the other that false prophets should be ignored.

I like the idea of mentioning this then offering them some Drano, just to see what they do.

  • @EdwardHowton Since they're willing to die by refusing blood transfusions, I'd be concerned that they would drink poison without hesitation. Amusing as it might be to think about, I wouldn't want anyone's death on my conscience, no matter how their own stupidity actually caused it.

  • @TaylorX04 I really doubt any of them would take me up on my offer. Drinking drain cleaner is a direct cause of death. They can put 2 and 2 together and arrive at "poison = death". Hopefully... Medical attention is a bit of a reach for their crippled mind.

Then again, if one of them did decide to drink Drano, and insisted on it, well... I'm conflicted. On the one hand, Bad. On the other hand, the second witness there would ask serious questions about his buddy's true Witnessianism.

  • @TaylorX04 Oh, and the reason why they refuse blood transfusions is because they think the soul is contained within blood or something, so by taking someone else's blood you're polluting your soul.

It's the typical crazy batshit religious love affair with blood, so that's why I think drain cleaner is in a different class for them. No soul pollution in drain cleaner.

Come to think of it, it's no wonder these people hate D&D so much. It's a competing product for fuck's sake...

  • @EdwardHowton "Come to think of it, it's no wonder these people hate D&D so much. It's a competing product for fuck's sake.."

I've always found it bizarre that christians see modern day fantasy works as occultic, considering that virtually all of it is based off of Lord Of The Rings. They love some Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, yet despise and demonize the work based off of it. Go figure..

  • @EdwardHowton

Drano doesn't work very well as a poison because it actually burns through your esophagus and eats its way right out your neck before it has a chance to reach your stomach.

  • Deus Ex: HR was definitely worth the title. Although the plot had a lot of similartities to the first DX. Still, the athmosphere and and thilosophical content alone was enough to make it more than just a worthy sequal (or should I say prequel?).

Although... On my list it's competing with Skyrim and I think the latter one will win in the end. DX: HR just doesnt have enough content for multiple replays.

  • @Wulfshade I haven't played Skyrim yet, but I'm wondering if it'll change that for me too.
