  • 5 people listen to Glee

  • 5 people would not know good music if it was put in their troughs.

  • thnx soo much for this.....now listen to fluffy little clouds by the orb ! who sampled who ?

  • I can kinda see Yes doing something like this in one of their songs...

  • I need to find the sheet music for this song <3

  • Brilliant version! congrats!

  • @hotsquareinazoo Thanks a lot :D

  • Orgasm at 2:15

  • Oh that's the first minimalist piece I hear and it's just amazing! Thank you for sharing!

  • we are doing this in music gcse at the moment. i loved it so much i listen to it in my free time! lol is that sad??

  • @meganstrange1 No, it's a great piece of music :)

  • great job dude!

  • Pure genius!

  • Listening to this is much better than theory work...

  • @pilchard96 11 minutes of the Miles Davis is pretty tough to sit through... Capercailie isn't all that good either - but I love Moby, this, Handel and Something's Coming!

  • this bores me to tears, i genuinely prefer the schoenberg

  • This is amazing, the closest to the real thing I've ever heard! One constructive comment though, please turn up the chords to the same volume as the main motif, and the bass up a bit, still with all the fading and that malarky!

  • To all those doing GCSE's, check out The Orb 'Little Fluffy Clouds' to hear how this track was sampled and made into one of the most famous dance tracks of all time

  • @Kennsysmith Absolutely. That's how I got into appreciating this hautingly beautiful music. Kudos to Steve Reich and this excellent performance by efx1138 :)

And can someone explain what GSCE means?!

  • @VieuxMalcommode GCSE: is when the exams students take when there aged 14-16. qualifications for future life.

  • @glenjob1 Thanks for clarifying... I couldn't figure the rapport between the General Certificate of Secondary Education and Steve Reich's music, until I found a few videos where students are seen performing this piece :)

  • @VieuxMalcommode The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is an academic qualification awarded in a specified subject, generally taken in a number of subjects by students aged 14–16 in secondary education in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

  • only listening to this because of GCSE music.

  • Having to this for GCSE. This piece is the worst out of the lot. I am a guitarist as well and this genuinely is one of the worst pieces of music I have ever heard. It is ridiculously repetitive. I would say this song should be about 2 seconds long.

  • @1234Dandyman I think it's quite clever. Four guitars are literally playing the same melody, but at different times, creating a completely new melody. It may not sound good, but it sure fascinates me.

  • @1234Dandyman Are you trying to say you like the Schoenberg more than this? Listen to this piece loud, with headphones and it will grow on you, I promise. It's genius, and I hated it to start.

  • @pilchard96 The Schoenberg one is the very close runner up to this. The Schoenberg one works well as a backing track to something like Tom and Jerry. These two are rock bottom. My favourite is Grace by Jeff Buckley then I would have to say probably the Mozart one then the Handel one.

  • @1234Dandyman All the pieces have grown on me, I kinda like them all. Love grace, love this, LOVE moby, Rag Desh is probably my least favourite, but even that I can tolerate.

  • @pilchard96 Oh I forgot about rag desh and Koko don't like them either, I'm not a big fan of the moby one either.

  • @1234Dandyman It has done well in opening up different styles of music to me, I must say...

  • This is amazing :D do you recon you could inbox me the bass tabs if you have any cheers buddy? :)

  • what interval does this song fit into? a perfect 4th?x

  • and the glory the glory of th- oh damnit wrong song

  • best piece in the whole GCSE syllabus <3

  • @samsungoreo8 ikr! only one i like lol! (still wish i didnt take music though ahah!)

  • @samsungoreo8 Yeh, got to admit I do like the Mozart, it's somewhat peaceful xD

  • Loads of my friends dislike this, but I love it!

  • i hate steve reich with a passion.

  • @kenickity THEN DONT LISTEN HAHAHAHAHA

  • <3 that bass!!

  • @marriotrick Thanks! :) It's amazing what a fresh pair of strings can do for the sound. Such a fun part to play as well.

  • I like Jeff Buckley-grace too!!

  • am i the only one who thinks of free hand by gentle giant when hearing this?

  • does anyone know what the piece is called for folk music

  • @statikz10 im doing Capercaille- Skye Waulking Song

  • @786humaa oh ok thankz :)

  • the low bass parts give me a strange feeling. it makes me feel hyper :D

  • sooo cool :D

  • If not for the bass part, long chordy-bits (you know which bits I mean) and the key changes, I would never be able to follow this thing xD love it though :D

  • @greatfelixo haha I'm doing an atonal piece for my composition and my music teacher hates me for it. This is a great song though. Well recorded and performed and thank you @efx1138, I loved this guys music even before we had to study it.

  • this was awesome! good job, i know how time consuing getting all the recordings perfect can be, and this really sounds great!

  • @adenning96 Much appreciated man. Yeah, it was somewhat time consuming but I'm glad and happy I did it :)

    Thank you for listening

  • Absolutely fascinating!

  • love this simple pieces of music which creates so many emotions

truely the work of a great artist

  • This is exceptional work, sir! I am most impressed. Bravo!

  • @RedHeadRadulf83 You are very kind and I appreciate the nice comment! Thanks for listening :D!

  • favourite bit's when the bass comes in :)

  • just for the curious.. theres 7 pre-recorded guitars, one live guitar and 2 bass guitars in this so 10 in total :)

  • 2:17 I love the key change :)

  • @speedyme21

my favorite part! i listen to it over and over just to hear that! :L xx

  • did you record, play and loop EVERY part in this piece? if so well done good sir! :P

  • @Neekatron Yeah, I every line is played from beginning to end. Started with guitar 1 and went down to the bass. Took forever but there is no real looping or anything, just a lot of repetition :)

    Thanks :)

  • @efx1138 wow! that really must have taken a LONG time :P well done ever more...

  • @efx1138 Amazing! One of my favorite pieces. Did you acquire sheet music to learn to play this?

  • Comment removed

  • Do you have, by any chance, sheet music for this? Or do you know where I can get it?

  • @costaricaesmipatria I got mine years ago but from some store but it should be available from the publisher (Boosey And Hawkes)

  • love the key change part

  • @Annicathryn Yeah, when I first discovered it in the early 1990's that was one of the parts that struck me the most and it still does today every time I listen to it :) Nice to see I'm not the only one!!

  • @efx1138 your not, i am doing it for my GCSE and everytime i listen to it, i just think of how good it is x
