Unfortunately, I only had the oppertunity to play the sequel, Everquest 2. Something about Norrath just reaches out and grasps you tightly. It is more than a game, a place where you meet new people and explore lands.
everquestttttttttttttttttttt............noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i loved youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!
so many good memories of waitin for my friend at the fp gates and hearin this play while i sat near the guards and worked on tradeskills. i member tellin him like fuck whats takin u so long and hes like im in fuckin butcherblock waitin for the goddam boat then when he finally got there id run over to the docks and hopped on and wed sail off to kunark, buy a bag full of water jugs and id give him a stack of batwing crunchies and off to lake of ill omen hopin to get into a fort or windmill group
I thought Kaladim was the dwarven city in the mountain? I haven't played EQ since 2002ish but I remember the music being a lot different. Anyways, this music is nice.
It would be nice to hear the Blacksmith's music too. I don't know if all blacksmiths had the same music but the one in the dwarven city was good!
I am still nostalgic for EQ. I went back this summer and found that almost all of the music was changed, not to mention the environments, game mechanics, population, etc.
Played EQ from 1999-2003. It just became crap after that. This music was the best. It may be midi, but it added a very good ambiance to the game, one that has not been redone by any other MMO I've ever played.
i fucking loved this game , it was like part of me, i played from when i was 5 right up to 13 years old with my dad and bro, i miss it so much, same with all of you (apparently a bunch of people are getting alot more people back to EQ 1)
We will relive classic EQ and eventually Kunark and Velious.

seriously... luclin killed it. made getting around too easy. i remember when everyone stopped using EC tunnel for trade... horrible. and remember when KEI first came out? low levels with infinite mana? YEAHH. god. this game makes me nostalgic like nothing else.
The reason it's named Kaladim is because it was originally written for Kaladim (and the version that plays there is more detailed than the one that plays at Freeport). It also sounds like a more fitting theme for Kaladim, no?
you are right. i had other music in my head that i distinctly went to kaladim to hear. and i ended up finding it in a download midi package called eqmidisdeluxepack
@SHOE788 I know this is an old comment, but what he's referring to is back in the old days when you walked out of Freeport it played this music for some reason. It fit very well, it said "Your adventure begins." :)

I don't know what EverQuest is... It's not simply a game, it's something more than that.
What I do know is EverQuest gives an experience so magical, so universal, it's almost alien, because no other game can do this. What makes it do this?
Is it the people we meet, with their maturity of acceptance of the complexity of gameplay and depth of content?
Is it the content itself? The simpleness of the world, so life-like yet fantasy-rich?
I'm not sure... but damn EQ is a good game...

we played everquest as kids, that's why it was nostalgic or we played everquest when mmorgs were still brand new and fresh...
playing other mmos dont give us that much feeling because we're so used to the feeling....

I wonder why they titled this "Kaladim"? It played when you left the West Freeport gate.

I agree and played as long as you did. After 2003 I went to SWG and played that for 5 years, that game had decent music before they screwed it up.

I miss everquest some much when i play world of warcraft i dont feel same as playing everquest . =)
George21T 3 years ago 29
Yeah, EQ felt a lot more adventurous.
Valkyria121212 2 years ago 5
dude i spend like 7 years on that game form 1999 to 2005 i think everquest 2 for like 1 1/2 years then now wow .
George21T 2 years ago 2
it's because MMO's were probably novel to you at that time. After you do the same thing for soo long the appeal diminishes and it gets old.
Serotonergic 2 years ago
that's part of it but I think it's mostly what some other people said EQ felt more adventurous and was set up really well
chrishayden82 2 years ago
but appeal will return after some time. form it.
George21T 2 years ago
i don't want to see it that way thou gh. hahah
aznguy11111 2 years ago
Because EQ put so much emotion into the mix. no other MMO makes me feel the way EQ did.

@George21T then go back to eq, people still play

it was both, i also mainly remember this in freeport and not so much kaladim. kaladim had very odd music inside it.

the song is called solitude.

It was Kaladim and I think it was outside of freeport on the commonland side
illumina91 3 years ago
Yes, this song was also outside of West Freeport on the East Commonlands side. I remember it clearly on my first chartacer, a human warrior. :)

I also thought this song was Freeport :P
Untill I heard It outside Kaladim o:

According to the game files this is Kaladim. Freeport has its own tune and I will upload it for you.
