  • SNAKE TOUNGE

  • my favourite annacdote about kinski is from when he was filming ''venom'' ( 1982 ) with ollie reed.

ollie would call klaus a ''nazi'' ( wrongly of course ) and shake up his trailer to get a rise out of him.......so they ended up chasing each other around the set threatening to kill each other !

  • seesnap, thank you... great document about the actor's routine and great psychological document about KINSKI's inner frustrations !!!

  • Kinski looks like a cross between Rugter Hauer and Willem Dafoe

  • @Schachmills

    HAHahaha...right

  • „Die deutsche Sprache ist eine der schönsten und ausdrucksvollsten aller Sprachen – wenn man sich ihrer Kraft bedient!

    - Klaus Kinski

  • Wonder since his English seems excellent that they didn't continue to shoot Fitzcarraldo in English after he replaced Jason Robards. Or maybe German was Herzog's preferred language for it all along?

  • His tongue, like a snake.

  • what movie was he working on cause didnt he go on a full on german rant with one of the producers of this?

  • Did anyone see his tongue moving like a snake?

    :P

  • It's funny how he always sounds calm when he speaks English lol.

  • Thats how bush is like Kinski, I work in safaris and I know what you mean...hahaha

  • Beautiful Man!.... And Mental!!!!

  • He was very peevish and pussy man...

  • He was a great actor, if not typecast. If he was apt at playing crazy, hyper intense German people-that's cause in real life he was a crazy, hyper-intense German guy.

  • Imagine leaving you with this guy on a deserted Island only you and him, hahahha.

  • Klaus "Kinky" Kinski! Uniquely freaky! LOL

  • No matter what he says, what languages he says it, he always scares the shit out of me. Fucking mad genius.

  • fucking sucks, i always wanted to meet this man

  • I think nobody can actually imagine what it is that happens if you are forced to grow up two *decades* with parents who manipulate the reality in a way that you lose your ability to form social contacts. That is the only thing that happened to Kinski.

  • " I can't find coke anywhere in this fucking jungle"

  • Klaus is a God.

  • fuck´in stinking camp ...He is a star get him there out....It´s a german RTL Show...

  • @stycal You do know Klaus Kinski is dead, right?

  • @VendavalEste

  • 0:31 Chuck Norris considers this an expression of excitement.

  • Damn, I can't believe that is Nastassja's father...she's too fine.

  • ;D ;D ;D he looks pooped from an outrage, now realizing the facts...

  • Klaus Kinski taught Chuck Norris how to be a man.

  • Greatest actor that ever lived! Hard in life but what was caputred on film was a masterpiece! The passion of this man for art and film is incomprehensible. Mr. Kinski you are the true "Aguirre"! (Wrath Of God!)

  • KK should've tried working a day in a supermarket. Same shiitake, bad scenery.

  • @wordtwister Amamzing crazy movie done in a time when movies were on a huge epic scale..today its all computers bullshit

  • looks like he was going for the johnny rotten look

  • Wich movie did he work on when this interview was conducted?

  • @GigglinMarley Fitzcarraldo.

  • Apokalinsk Klaus

  • he kind of reminds me of peter lorre...and ren hoek

  • I wanted to know, please, something about this video .. I'm sure this video is not part of the documentary "Kinski My Best Fiend",in fact it is not in the movie! Where did you find it! It's a documentary about the film Fitzcarraldo?

    Help me!

  • you betcha jrubin - tell those small asswipes to sht the F up...niceeeee

  • That interview was in the jungle of Peru on location of the classic Herzog's " Fitzcarraldo"

  • Yes, there is something special about people working in film. It's not just another profession. Actors and artists are, by their very definition, special folks with special and unusual skills.

    Skytroop: You don't know Jack.

  • Indeed, I don't want to know an artist that isn't fucked up in some way. They've gotta be crazy.

  • One thing, there is nothing necessarily special about people working in film. Its another profession like many others. The only difference is that it tends to put people in the spot light and they begin to think of themselves as exceptional in some way. And jrubin68? Yes, actually I have! BTW, Why do you go around using the name of some Marxist douche bag on youtube.

  • If they ever made a bio flick about Klaus Kinski, the only person I can see playing him is Willem Dafoe (they kinda look a like).

  • They do look alike, and they both played Count Orlok in Nosferatu/Shadow Of The Vampire.

  • Some people have been saying that Nic Cage could be Herzog's new Kinski. Bad Lieutenant is proof that Cage has finally found a director that allows him to use his over the top, crazy acting in very fitting atmosphere. No other director has a brand of dark comedy quite like Herzog.

  • Man I miss this crazy fucker! The only guy that could drive yet another nut like Werner Herzog up a wall. Which reminds me, anyone who hasn't really should watch Herzog's "My Best Fiend", which details his batshit crazy relationship with Kinski. It's a really fascinating watch.

  • downloaded it a few day ago...great documentary

  • No, actually you haven't because you're not in the film industry you are just some cocksucker with enough cash for a PC. He had a life, he was a distinguished German actor, while it is you that has no life. You are pathetic.

  • I love his acting, but one read of his autobiography will tell you he was absolutely nuts.

  • when he speaks English he actually seems sane

  • @Gibson889 when u write english u actually seem sane

  • @BroadswordTULL English is not the only sane language you shameless bigot. Haha :-P

  • @Gibson889 but I am the only sane youtube user...

  • @Gibson889 He doesn't scream as much in English.

  • I love this man .Thank God that Herzog discovered his jewel

  • didja know Spielberg wanted him to play Toht in Raiders? Kinski declined, saying he'd jump at the chance to work with Spielberg except the script was "shit"

  • i thought it was to play belloq, and he turned it down cause he was offered more money to be in venom.what a pity

  • @joliecide I think the "script is shit" excuse is just that: an excuse made after Raiders became a huge sensation. Like seesnap said he probably got offered more money for another role, because considering some of the shit he acted in I doubt he'd have a problem even if he did believe Raiders was poorly written.

  • @joliecide that's awesome

  • @joliecide he wuda been good in some role in shindlers list. maybe even goeth

  • Dude, bring some books to read next time.

  • Herzog should have taken the Bunuel approach

    "actors?I take a newspaper,roll it,and stamp them against the canvas...there!"

  • You can tell he's just adopting the Hollywood stance of "I'm bored."

His eyes tell a different story.

    RIP Herr Kinski

  • Brilliant actor, although he can be such a bitch; I love it.

  • just got fitzcaraldo a couple days ago and watched the commentary version. And Werener brags about how the native indian chief offered to kill Klaus for Werner. And Werner said something like " Oh god no, I need him don't do that... but looking back on it now, I regret not taking him up on his offer." Werner cracks me up. And Kinski, although crazy, was great in this film. And AMAZING in Nosferatu, he was PERFECT for that role. Although I really didn't dig that movie. Don't know why.

  • sweet

  • I've begun my Kinski-Herzog journey with Fitzcarraldo, which I am currently watching. I plan to watch Nosferatu next. Is it a terrible film, hard to watch? Or does it depend on viewers' tastes?

  • Nosferatu is pure cinema, watch it undisturbed, on a big screen, with good audio and let yourself go :)

  • it's brilliant! go for it!

  • "......at least you have this view" LOL

  • I have to say Kinski speaks incredibly good English on this!

  • OOhhh, der arme Klaus!!

  • In the middle of the jungle? I don't think so. It is just a habit not something sinister.

  • i once read that the indians who worked as extras on the set offered werner herzog, that they could kill kinski and let his body vanish in the jungle, and while working on "Aguirre, the wrath of god", at one point Kinski said he would leave, so Herzog told him that he had a rifle in the camp and that Kinski wouldn´t get to the next bend of the river, before having several bullets in his head.

  • That sounds like some crazy bullshit invented by Herzog to me.

  • There's a clib on youtube in which the director talks about this.

  • YA if you watch My Best Fiend(which is on Youtube Movies) he says that.

  • I don't think so.

  • give klaus a break, he is, after all a f**king genius

  • Absolutely right. The man was unique.

  • Whatever but he was just sick of putting up with everybody's shit and there's nothing to do out there. You are trapped and bored shitless, it sucks. Who wouldn't be bitching?

  • Herzog had it down pat: give him his space and let him blow off steam every now and then.

  • You are damn right. He was one of the beste actors of all time. I really miss his face on the screen.. One more film of him directed by Werner... damn.. Thats a dream... a fading dream..

  • @fabfrith

    A genius in what way?

  • @CleverDjembe measuring his iq in decibel

  • @fabfrith Yeah he was..great actor..real cocky son of bitch..the jungle made him crazy, just like apocalypse now actors..

  • Simply the best!!!

  • Or not enough. Ever tried finding a dealer in the jungle?

  • let's see. mushrooms? check. toads? check. weed? check. nastassia? check.

  • lol nastassia

  • God, I love this guy. Too bad all actors aren't this insane.

  • Wasn't there a time when Brando was kookoo? Mickey Rourke even? Or you can even make the argument that Tom Cruise is probably the nuttiest (and as of late, creepisest) actor working in the biz today? Of course none of them hold a candle to the eccentric Kinski

  • Eccentric indeed... and schizophrenic.

  • Fast so gut wie Maradona!

  • oliver kahn versucht ihn schon seit jahren erfolglos zu kopieren ;)

  • kranke augen

  • krasse augen..

  • To zapfly: actually I"ve heard something different: Mick Jagger was the original main character in Fitzcarraldo but he left the crew. Then Herzog requested Kinski to play this role. After a while Kinski had enough of everything and wanted to be off, as well but Herzog pointed a gun at him so Kinski had to stay.

  • mick jagger was cast to be fitzcarraldo's assistant, but couldnt finish filming

  • Mick had to go on the "Tattoo You" tour and couldn't wait any longer with all the delays in filming.

  • mick jagger was ment too be a sidekick to jason robards, who was going to play fitzcaraldo, but got very sick and had to leave.herzog was goin to do it himself, but thankfully kinski did.check out doc "my best fiend" for all the info on the gun ordeal, very interesting maddness

  • Oh, yeah...Kinski boozed up with his Winchester. And pissed off as usual.

    A very darkly funny story.

  • @seesnap Just as well Mick didn't make it. Watching a movie with him in is 'oh, there's Mick Jagger pretending to be someone else'.

Unlike Bowie, who managed to find that sweet spot in being an alien/ vampire/ Andy Warhol.

  • @TreyRoque

Bowie was a born poser, in acting as well as music. Mick was born to be a Stone, and a Stone he remains.

  • noooo way! sorry! herzog would have done ANYTHING to keep his star satisfied. fyi herzog wasnt the "follow me or die!" kinda guy. ;)

  • @zapfly actually, when Kinski tried to break his contract and just go home in the middle of the shooting for Fitzcarraldo, Herzog told him he would hunt him, shoot him and then shoot himself. -- Kinski and Herzog finished the film.

  • just propaganda. (or P.R.^^)

    where's your "info" from?

  • Herzog said it himself in an interview. The exact excerpt of this interview is somewhere in a short docu about Herzog on this site: ws-avantgarde de

  • coincidentally, I watched a Docu that's in full on YouTube called "My Best Fiend", in which Herzog recalls his time with Kinski. He said the threat was on the set of "Aguirre The Wrath of God", and that he would put 8 bullets in Kinski's head if he left and the 9th in his own. Check out the Docu, it's great!

  • @Atta67 Herzog thretened to shoot Kinski and then commit suicide when Kinski tried to walk out on Agurrie, the wrath of god when they had almost finished shooting. Although, Herzog did not have a gun in his hands when he made the threat.

  • no joke: the natives once asked herzog if they should kill klaus for him. they all were afraid of him.^^

  • Yikes, such harsh words! He died some 15 years ago, I believe. If that somehow makes you feel any better...

  • no it doesn't - if that makes you feel any better...

  • The universe would be more fun if he were the centre of it.

  • @stevenc123 Yes but only if we sit in another universe :D

  • he WAS the centre of (his own^^) universe! ;)

fyi - i understand herzogs comments better than you, cause i speak german perfect.

  • they were not afraid of Kinski, but of Herzog remaining so calm......check out Herzogs interview on Kinski

  • AH diva... I love this man.

  • I know that situation :-D

  • Klause the love machine Kinski

  • Just like Herzog said. He postured as if he admired and understood the jungle, but he was mortified by its "murderous...vast... apathetic" essence. That's why he was so great at playing Aquirre opposite the calm native peruvians!

  • Klaus...I feel your pain! ~K

  • I'd like to be stuck on that fucking stinking camp with him haha Although, the hair is a bit questionable

  • What if you struck a match on his hump ?

  • Seems like a barrel of fun alright

  • Happy chap.....lol
