  • yeah grant got on well with pete but phil would never have let grant hurt frank, phil did not want any trouble and if grant hit frank he would have been in serious trouble with the law and i think grant knew that.

  • @mm91ie If Grant had laid a finger on Frank, it would have probably resulted in Mr Mitchell doing bit of stretch in the scrubs like when he assualted the copper in 93. Though Frank was trying to provoke him, he had lot more people in that pub, who would have probably backed him up over Grant, firstly being a long standing member of the community and ex licencee, not to mention, there were one or two people, like Frank, who would have liked to have seen Grant pay for what he did to Eddie.

  • lol

  • i dont understand pete. i bet if that was den, pete would have who have got up straight away. its funny because pete could handle himself but his son ian is a pussy lol

  • @capitalhookmaster Im surprised Pete didn't back Frank up little more here, as after Den's departure the two built up very solid friendship, which would last up until Pete's death, also Frank was very supportive of him, just year later, he helped him trap Wilmott Brown, when he returned to the square and started harrasing Kathy, but guess on the other hand Pete might have seen it as none of his business, chosing to have quiet drink instead of knuckle sandwich from Mr Mitchell Lol.

  • @MeBenHalpin Yeah, you're right, Frank did help Pete hunt down Wilmott-Brown. I even remember Frank making it clear to Pete that he'd help him because that's what friends do - "even though you didn't back me up in my little trouble with the Mitchell boys last year" where Frank's words. I don't think Pete cared enough to go to bat in Eddie Royal's defence, they weren't exactly the best of friends; Frank was trying to rally the troops, but people didn't share Frank's passion for the task.

  • @ardbastard1 Then remember Pete uttering back that he would have stepped in to help Frank, if things had got nasty with the Mitchells that night, but believe that when i see it, as firstly i agree with you, like most of the residents he didn't give two hoots for Eddie Royle, then secondly he tried to tackle both Mitchell brothers over fitting up his old market pal Jackie Stone, which didn't go down too well, especially when he discovered Ian was the real culprit.

  • @MeBenHalpin Oh yeah - that's what I'm saying. I don't think anyone was scared of Phil or Grant as early 1991, at that point they had been in Walford for about 18 months, were quite friendly with pretty much everyone & the square hadn't witnessed their violent sides yet, they just seemed like a couple of 'jack the lads', so there wasn't any cause to feel threatened to confront them on an issue at this stage. I think it was just Pete didn't really give a shit about what happened to Eddie, bth.

  • @ardbastard1 When the Mitchells first arrived in Walford towards the end of February 1990, the writers were very clever just introducing them as pair of jack the lad mechanics, keeping both their dark sides well hidden for the first year, but once Grant struck out violently at Eddie Royle, you began to realise there was certainly more to these two meathead mechanics than meets the eye. Besides Pete, think there were a few residents, who didn't quite know how to take the new landlord.

  • @ardbastard1 yeah pete would have stepped in, and i think phil would have stopped grant from attacking frank, the pub was full of people and everyone would have held him back, besides that black guy in the pink purple shirt looks pretty big he would have been able to intervene and break it up.

  • @mm91ie Grant was smart enough to back away from trouble for once, as he knew what sort of damage he could inflict on Frank,Pete or anyone else who goaded him, secondly don't think it would have gone that far anyway, as like you say, Phil always had way of keeping his younger brother on a tight leash, probably pulling him aside and warning him of the consequences, if he put another foot wrong.

  • No more Pat.

  • come on :L

  • Smart move on Grants part and Frank must have known he would get arrested thats why he made the move.Made Frank look like a punk really.

  • why did grant not fight him

  • @s0d100 Cos he was already in enough trouble, over assaulting Eddie Royle, had he struck out at Frank in front of pub full off witnesses, he would been in very hot water Grant.

  • @Tomj2110 hey whats the date that this episode aird? i'd like to try to find it please

  • You have to admire Frank's bottle, he went up against in my view the to toughest characters in Eastenders on to different occasions - he gives both barrels to Grant Mitchell here (the number 1 hardest in EE history), & went to war with Dan Sullivan (in my opinion the second hardest) over the Vic, even lamping him at one point. Respect...

  • @ardbastard1 Agree, and maybe Frank in his younger days was a tough bastard.

  • what date did this episode air? i'd like to try to find it please.

  • @YouriYuri April 91, not sure of the very date though.

  • 0:51 Ricky hahaha

  • dan was in no way a wannabe hardman he dominated phil in any of the physical altercations between the pair and i reckon he would take grant as well, frank would never be able for grant but phil well even gary hobbs took him and frank was way taller and heavier than him.

  • Does anybody know why Frank was threatening him and why did Grant have a bandage around his hand ?

  • @shamim13333 Grant had just brutally beaten up then pub landlord Eddie Royle, because he made pass at Sharon and if i remember correctly Frank visited Eddie in the hospital earlier in this episode and after initially keeping quiet, he opened up to Frank about Grant being behind the attack, so Mr Butcher decided to confront the Mitchell maniac.

  • @MeBenHalpin Eddie never made a pass at Sharon I saw the epiosde. Grant thought Eddie was keeping Sharon behind bars a lot becasue he liked her so pushed him around and beat him up. Why does people keep saying he tried it on with her.

  • @shamim13333 Well whatever, Grant got it into his head, that Eddie had made one towards Sharon and Grant being Grant hit first and to hell with the consequences, where did you watch this episode by the way?, as im dying to see it again.

  • @MeBenHalpin I never saw the episode, I saw a clip on youtube but it'snot here anymore. Grant Being a lunatic thought Eddie was making her work late because he liked her and wanted her to him self. That is so horseshit, I kind of felt sorry for him the way he got knocked out. He never made a pass and didn't make her work late because he wanted her to himself. Porr Eddie -R.I.P. I'm suprised Grant didn't get nicked for GBH.

  • @shamim13333 The full episode is getting uploaded soon by guy on here called EastendersOnTv so should be interesting to see what happened, i last watched it about 12 years ago as repeat on UK Gold.

  • @MeBenHalpin Well plz do let me know when it does and how to find it

  • @shamim13333 Just go on that channel EastendersOnTv, in the next couple of days and there should be uploads of that episode.

  • @shamim13333 Think Grant would defintly been nicked had he struck out Frank here, but he managed to keep his cool for once, as for Eddie he started off fairly decent chap from what i remember, but after the assault he became very bitter and twisted inside, making it his personal goal in life to ruin the Mitchells, especially Grant and he even sacked Sharon from the pub, because of her involvement with Grant, so by the time he died later that year, think he had made more enermies than friends.

  • who else thinks phil looks like chris benoit here

  • @hellrazorhussain ur wired how can he look like benoit u dumbass

  • what happens next

  • @25superawesome Nothing luckly for Frank, not too many men of Walford over the years, who have threatened Grant Mitchell in that manor and lived to tell the tale.

  • Pat has butter hair.

  • why does the music always stop whenever there is a fight in the vic?

  • @hundhun17

I think it's for extra effect! LOL

  • @hundhun17 i've always wondered that lol

  • The character of Frank was weird - because whilst he wasn't an actual gangster, or wouldn't hurt anyone - he also wasn't afraid of anyone (if that kinda makes sense)

  • @Rob23 It's called front

Mike Reid, what a great performer.

  • @Rob23 Fair play to Frank he wasn't afraid to have go, on the behalf of his friends or loved one's but think lot of it was just front, this kind of hardman physique routine.

  • lol what happened to eddie royal?

  • @themrduragss Grant beat the shit out of him becasue he though he liked sharon

  • @shamim13333

    cheers for filling me in

  • @themrduragss he was killed by nick cotton

  • has anyone got the episode of Grant beating Eddy up infront of Sharon in the queen vic

  • i reckon frank would take phil because he thumped dan sullivan and phil is pretty average physically but grant would kill him.

  • @mm91ie Yeah but Dan was wannabe hardman compared to Phil and Grant, luckly things didn't get too out of hand in this scene.

  • grant would mash frank

  • Phil or Grant could easily smash Frank in lol Frank was nothing

  • Despite his age I had no problem believing that Frank, who physically towered over Grant and Phil, was unafraid of getting into a brawl with them. Remember this is the same guy who punched Dan Sullivan and threatened both Grant and Phil very convincingly when he was angered at the former possibly disrupting his wedding to Peggy in a 1997 episode.

  • @932sd yeah until Grant gets up and plants a right hook on him then a foot through his head for good measure. Get real

  • @SMUDGEPARA I believe Grant would have probably gone for Frank, but for 3 reason's he held back, 1 his armed was all bandaged up, 2 What Ricky said at the bar at the beginning, maybe hit home and beyond that psyschotic nature, did lie bit of common sense and 3 He was already in hot water over the assult on Eddie and one more attack, would really spelt trouble for him, with the boys in blue.

  • wow, just shows how long Phil's been in it for. This really goes back

  • Frank would easily have taken both these prats

  • @firglenchainsaws Frank always seemed to be brawling with one or either of the Mitchell brothers, where as quite few of the regulars were quite bit wary of them by then, having already more than stamped their authority in Walford, fair play to Frank, he always gave as good as he got.

  • imagine if den was still in it then

  • @paul2008uk Yeah he would have had some rivalry with the Mitchell brothers for muscling in on his patch.

  • One look at Pat and Frank could have knocked Grant out with his massive erection.

  • The Legends are all there!

  • love how the music instantly goes off allowing you to know shits about to go down!

  • @921ifyable I would like to see it, that was the first moment, you realised our Mr Mitchell was anything but pussycat, having kept his dark and violent side well hidden for the first year he was in the show.

  • this was a gr8 eastenders moment loved it

  • have you got the bit after this???

  • threatens GRANT, brave frank

  • Thats the right time to confront grant mitchell with his right hand in plaster :-D

  • @gammergq There's never good time to confront Grant Mitchell.

  • It's a great moment!

  • @Tomj2110 It is.

  • I remember watching this episode on BBC1, when it first aired, i was very young, but remember thinking at the time either Frank must be very brave or very stupid to tackle Grant, who only week before had brutually beaten Eddie Royle to pulp and remember thinking, he could just turn at any second, that was Grant all over really.
