i think we are about 50 years past this. you dont even see rascism that much. maybe its my situation. im in the army and i work with a spectrum of different people. im just really tired of people wasting time on this issue.. or non-issue
toys are just toys. you can't teach your child about respecting others without them being in contact with people "outside" their ethnicity. as if preventing racism were that easy.
When I was young, my mother insisted on buying me black dolls solely for the first few years. At parties, I would sometimes feel jealous that all the other girls had white blonde dolls, but over time I began to notice they had not a single black doll because, as they put it, "they're just ugly!" The prouder I became of my black dolls, the prouder I became of myself, and the more my mother allowed spanish, asian, and white dolls. B4 I cud enjoy those, I had to enjoy the dolls that looked like me
sadly, because of the way black people feel about themselves (less than whites, uglier than whites, etc.) is something that starts young and needs to be rectified. That's why the two scenarios are really different. That nanny is most likely frightened that the child wants the white doll because she may find it prettier than the black doll that's more similar to her. Remember that test where kids chose a white or black doll and most black kids chose the white doll?
i'm white and i had a christie(black) rock n roll barbie doll(late nineties) and the asian one of the gen x barbies. I remember I didn't consider race, the christie dolls outfit i thought was the coolest.
It's nice and all but I think asking everyone to leave each other might be too much. I think the best we can do is to not give a shit about other peoples differences.
I'm not particularly supportive of Reverend Moon because his "church" is pretty corrupt in South Korea. However, I applaud the actions of the guy in this video.
@darkapaul He's an example that Christians CAN be loving. You can't ignore the fact that some of them are absolutely awful, just like every other demographic.
That Asian gentlemen is a rare character these days and I applaud him with a standing ovation. He is truly and amazing character and he is correct. We are all made in GODS eyes. Good job my friend.
This brought tears to my eyes. That last guy was so inspirational, and everything he said was true. we are all beautiful and equal in our own way. People divide people, not nations or color. But we are all just the same. I agree with everyone he said. There is not a lot of people like this Asian guy, in the world, which is very sad. We need more people like him!
i woulda told her off, not because i care about racism, but because i would have been trying to get in her pants. she was hot, and bitches respect men that disagree with them.
@Glovefullavasoline That happened ages ago. No one alive today is responsible for that area. I think it is time to stop remebering the past and just be equals.
The last guy's name is Immanuel Rinkema, from Unification Church which is where the title comes from. Half Japanese and Half Dutch, you can tell his parents did a great job.
I was taught from childhood that a person true worth lies within. That the color of their skin or the God that they pray to doesn't matter. We are all in this together and we are much better off learning to love one another for who we are. That young man has a good head on his shoulders and anyone who knows him is a better person just for knowing him. I
I used to work in retail and I have experienced this first hand. Mother's trying to get the same race doll for their child. I tell them to just get the doll that was available or the one the child wanted. The child will broaden his/her horizons, maybe even the parents.
Yeah, I don't think it's bad to like what a race looks like. I think the terrible part is the mom not allowing her daughter to express appreciation for others and their diversity. Liking the way a race looks is one thing, but allowing that alone to effect your respect for them is another thing. Every race would like to be accepted and appreciated, at least to a certain level.
Growing up I always had black baby dolls and white barbies, both blonde and brunette. But I always wanted red heads and Asian dolls but they were hard to find. Wow, what the guy said at the end was really touching. I'm 100% on board with everything he said.
Even though I'm not with the Unification Church (Rev. Moon funded my university, but he thinks he's Jesus reincarnated and calls himself the True Father and been arrested for tax frauds, so I'm not for that) they really do have good morals.
@OmgWowszers Hi, I can see that you are a good person, but the interpretation about Rev. Moon being a incarnation of Jesus is not correct. Rev. Moon is to continue to exercise the mission of Jesus. He never claimed to be Jesus. Jesus is one person, Rev. Moon is another person, but they exercise the same mission. About the charges that they did to him, start to change the world for better, challenges the established power and you see what happend to you. Ex: Julian Assange, Wikileaks.
I always had white dolls growing mostly because that's the only color they had. With most or all commercials advertising barbies or dolls of any kind they are usually white.
@wowwow180 Unificationism is a worldwide movement and worldview based on the teachings of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The young man, Mr. Rinkema in the video is a second generation of the moment, that's why his called a young Unificationist, his parents was matched by Rev. Moon, Mr. Rinkema is half-Japanese and half-Dutch and has grown up in a church community in which mixed race is common and welcomed. The vision of Unificationism is to inherit true love of God.
@TheHeavenlySoldiers There are pychological effects of slavery that are still present in Black people today thats why is was important for the Black girls to have a Black doll you missed the entire point. The doll test was done on a group of Black children two years ago and they all still associated all of the negative characteristics with the Black doll and all of the positive with the white.
In the end, Father Moon's formula to world peace is real and practical. I am a Filipino, and Father Moon matched & married me to my Nepalese wife. Our children shall become inter-racial, inter-national, inter-religious, & inter-cultural children. Long Live World Peace!

I am disappointed with our current politicians and the kind of problems we are facing daily in our lives and neighborhood. Thus, this is the kind of guy I will vote for the next President of USA or United Nations.
@myhourwithgod i loved this episode ONLY cuz of this guys words of wisdom....hey guyz im muslim i love the country i was born and raised in THE U.S im willing to lay my life for my country but dont hate on all muslims THUMBS UP..to support......
@KINGZ44four Actually the United Nations is a world organization founded in 1945 in the hopes of stopping the problems that plague the world today; such as war, disease, terrorism, and famine.
The United States is a first world country within the continent of North America. So no, they are not the "same thing."
There have been just too much of sad news, war, conflict, tragedy etc. on tv, Now this is really, very refreshing and hopeful to see there are actually model of good character out there living among us.
