I met one two days ago, a real rarity in Hong Kong, same colour very nicely built, lots of chrome, I was following behind him, he made a lot of noice, and I made a lot of noice in my stock MGB roadster, the rest of the motorist are just shocked to see us hurrying ourselves in the busy traffic. All the BMWs Mercedes, Audi are nothing when we came along, they just have to standaside!!!!
If one have to stand out of the crowd one has to ride good classic, no use driving Mers, BMWs
@SaabyHun97 Shelby instigated the Cobra and Shelby American sold and raced it in the USA, while AC actually built the cars in Britain. (Though Cobras for the US were only built to unpainted rolling shell stage for Shelby American to finish in US.) They were originally badged as Shelby AC Cobras but later just had the Shelby name in US and AC name in Europe, though I'm not sure why - maybe just used the name that was best known that particular side of the Atlantic?
A continuation of the 427 is just a younger brother of the 60's 427, is built in same jigs with exact blueprints from the original by shelby's company, So yeah it's a original In every sence, I'm sure if this guy could find 1 of the older made 427 he probably would of bought 1, but considering that there are probably only not more than 20 left in existence and they only made 50 in the first place, with an auction price tag of over 600k, so plz stop hating and stop being jealous as I know I am j
the story goes that there was a Ford Big Block 427 FE motor sitting in the back of Shelby's shop that somehow found its way in the the Cobra Roadster and the 427 Cobra was born. The 427SC was and remains one of the fastest production vehicles ever made. Only a handful of original Shelby 427 Cobras still exist. Fortunately, a number of replica manufacturers are making reproductions of the original 427SC Cobra....This IS NOT ORIGINAL!!
A friend has a replica with a 383cu in SBC, the purists would hate it but it is a gorgeous car. The real originals were iconic cars but they are not affordable for normal people. I don't see why replicas get hated on so much... they benefit from over 40 years of evolution since the "originals". I guess the description of this one is misleading though... was hoping for a mid 60s 427....
Is this supposed to impress anyone? Well it certainly didn't impress me, it just wasted a couple of minutes of my life. You look like a goof driving that thing. You look like Fred Munster behind the wheel. Get a fuckin' life.
this isnt an original Shelby...first off because it has a fiberglass body and it has a Roush engine in it...secondly because no car fanatic would drive an original 1965 Shelby Cobra like that at all...
to be honest if their is anything that I have distaste for are replicas built with inferior parts, non original looking rims and direct injection engines pulled from an old mustangs. however superformance knows what they are doing and they build the car with respect and diligence and high performance racing parts to improve on an already amazing car, nothing is a downgrade on these cars!
The reissue models are amazing like the MK3 Roush 1, (650 hp 700flb of torque and a carbon fiber body) for $35900.00 you would have to be an idiot to call that an inferior car for an affordable price tag. that is less weight the the original handles better and has a 6 speed gear box, allowing you to go much faster the the Original (1965 munci 4 speed top speed of 185mph) compared to 200mph roush reissue cars.
How is using a 500hp Roush engine a disgrace to the original car? its a great engine, strong reliable, Carol Shelby and Ford use Roush engines in the new Gt 500 mustangs builds!
@a0522625 Don't worry about him, he's probably into car sex. I think there's a name for people like that. As you said, it looks good, obviously goes and runs good and sounds brutal enough. Any way you look at it, it's a hell of a car. Purists like that are just geeks who are as open minded as a non porous rock. I wouldn't even care if it had something like a chev LS7 in it. If it's built good, it's all good, and that shape is just timeless :)
@carcajouxx My replica has a FR500 4.6 in it, my friends has a V-10 Viper ACT engine/6-spd trans in it,,,,His took the Run & Gun in 2000 and 2001......it is what you build it to be!~ They're all good......
If the car was an original like it says it would not have a ROUSH MOTOR.
It could be a Continuation, a Superformance which Carol Shelby condones and puts his name on and then it may have a ROUSH MOTOR but not an original COBRA.
Also Superformance is the only COBRA that is recognized in the COBRA REGISTRY, and they are not a kit car.

Looking for a cobra that was in Arizona back in 1985. Red, Aluminum, Full-Race (16 gauges inside cab, rivet/snaps around cab, toneau cover with zipper opening for driver only, full windshield with full rear-view mirror (stretched from left side to right side,) no stripes, can't remember if it was a 429 or a 289, but it had a cobra snake above the numbers on the side badge. And, last but not least, it had a HEART-Shaped Hood Scoop. Any ideas?
The original 427 did not have side exhaust. Dual exhaust out the back for the cars in street trim. It doesn't really matter though as this car is far from original.
eryczekdf 1) an original cobra did not have a Roush Motor 2) The New Superformance MKIII Cobra has a Shelby Plate because they are recognized by Carol Shelby 3) An original Cabra Serial # starts with CXS and then the #.
4) there are very \few originals around and most are in car collections and bring upwards of a million dollars
@sixtiesforever1966 Seen an original with under 400 miles at a Barret Jackson show go for 2.4 million and carol shelby signed it right there on stage and it was a track car not a civilian street car i was creaming myself the whole time it was on stage
original cobras did not have a roush motor ,even the continuation cobras by shelby have a ford motor. Carol Shelby buys some of his continuation cobras from Superformance, and even the Superformance have a Shelby Plate on them.
Of Course the Shelby's have a Serial # starting with CXS
this car is probably a 4000 series fiberglass shelby car nice!!! sidepipe covers are a little weak but there is a kid riding in it . got a kit of my own and the scars on my leg to prove how hot!! those side pipes get
My auto teacher built a kit version of this all by himself, pushing 500hp right now, and it's so awesome! Got a ride in it 2 days ago, and I nearly pissed my pant's twice. Once on a straight, and once chasing down a CRX. His car is like a god at my school, can't come close to it, can't breath on it, can't touch it. I got a ride in it, unbelievable.
probably a factory five car ...look it up they send them over there ..it's here on you tube ...lol not to mention factory five is in my home town of Wareham Massachusett's !! it's 10 minute's from my house there all over the place in the summer ..
The car is ugly??? WTF This is the ultimate car brutaly fast, noisy, smelly, hot and a legend. Grown men drop to their knees to worship this car. And take those stupid heat shields of the pipes.
If I'm not mistaken the only thing British about this car was the original chasis design which was modified. EVERYTHING else is USA. There's no way the wimpy British running gear, shocks, etc. would withstand the pressures of that 427.
@19elgato46 the chasis was modified in england as was the tuning for the v8 beast, the original body's were built in england then they were made in usa ah#fter a short time period
The original 60's car were all built by AC cars in the UK, and shipped to the US where Shelby added the engine and gearbox.
This ones a replica, nothing wrong with that, I have one. Originals, especially 427s/c's, of which there were only 31, are beyond any sensible purchase price.
The Ace was the starting point which AC sold for years with different engines. With the loss of the final 2.6litre Zephyr engine the car ceased production as the Ace in 1962.
With the arrival of Shelby it reappeared as the AC or Shelby Cobra depending on whether you were a US or European buyer. UK/mainland European cars are identifiable by a COB/COX chassis number prefix, rather than the US CSX prefix.
The tranny was a ford toploader. The original AC Ace body was changed quite a bit by Shelby to look like the car in this vid. Also frame mods and new suspension design was done by Shelby.
@mikehudd ok 1st of all whats the most important part? the engine and thats pure American Ford Racing and the bpdy is built american just british styled
@slggrsrus Actually it is a Superformance Continuation and licensed by Carol Shelby. And Carol Shelby also buys his Cobra Rolling Chassi from Superformance, and they are also licensed as a 1966 Cobra. The ones that Carol Shelby puts his Ford Shelby motor's in have the original CXS Serial Numbers on them.
@slggrsrus Until you have owned one, like I have,, you can't really criticize another man's ride. Glass or aluminum doesn't matter. Build one, enjoy it, and have some fun. Death comes pretty quick anyway you look at it,,, just enjoy the sun in your face and the wind in your hair, and share it with somebody you care about. Oh yeah, quit whining!
@Martin00028Guitar I wasn't whining... I own a shelby cobra continuation car. You can find my video in the sidebar. Every part of my shelby can be interchanged with the original car. Down to the nuts and bolts my "ride" is identical to the original.
I'm doing the filming in the video. My father is driving. It's my car. Original engine too, by the way. Not a "roush" but a Ford 427 side oiler.
@CSnakeV Neither wheel well is rolled. Aluminum without being rolled back in on itself would shred arm and tire.
Also, go to this guys other video where he's riding in the SAME car. At about 4 seconds in the camera pans down to the center console area. There you can see the Shelby Automobiles Inc. plaque which is now called Shelby American Inc. Shelby "signs" each car, as you can see. Go to their site shelbyamerican(dot)com and you'll see with your own eyes. They're ALL fiberglass.
@slggrsrus If you do some home work, you will find your last statement..."ALL fiberglas" incorrect.
Shelby America.... "We resumed production of the Cobra 427 S/C (CSX4000-series) in 1997 and they’re available today in aluminum or fiberglass."
My brother owns a Superformance version, titled as 1964-1/2, 427SC, title is signed by Carol Shelby, also has shelby license plaque, under the hood, not on the console "The Superformance MKIII is built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc."
the story goes that there was a Ford Big Block 427 FE motor sitting in the back of Shelby's shop that somehow found its way in the the Cobra Roadster and the 427 Cobra was born. The 427SC was and remains one of the fastest production vehicles ever made. "Only a handful of original Shelby 427 Cobras still exist." Fortunately, a number of replica manufacturers are making reproductions of the original 427SC Cobra. "Again I say, Replica or Replicar" Carol doesn't sign "replicas"

@3561jlh1961 I really want a cobra, idc if its original or an replica, i just want that car, i love it design, in fact, that car was an combination of an european chasis(car chasis) and an american engine, so, what you got, a combination of europe´s stylish and good looking car with an american powerful and resistant engine :D.
@1canadianehhole com'on dude!! He did get on it for like 2 seconds in first gear!! Stupid rich fuck probably couldn't drive it fast if his life depended on it.
where is the proof that it's a real ac cobra...? it's probably a replica and ways if it was a original ac cobra he sure as hell would have to be rich cause those things are freaking expensive in the states. my dad have a 429 550 bhp ac cobra so i know quite a bit about them.
It's a great looking car, but I why refer to it as an original. Clearly it's not. It's every bit a replica even though it came from the Shelby Factory... assuming that's true. Go ahead and enjoy the car, but please don't represent it...you'll really piss off the owners of the *real* originals.
cack cack cackle-cack cacklecackle cackle-cackle rouuh-rouuh, roucackle cacklecackle cac cac cackle cackle cac-cakle-roouhrouh! *the rumble at idle, then a small rew, then rumble again and so on*

"500hp roush" not even close to original, disgrace to the car.... >:(
that's a fiberglass body too
slggrsrus 2 years ago 32
@slggrsrus Actually it is a Superformance Continuation and licensed by Carol Shelby. And Carol Shelby also buys his Cobra Rolling Chassi from Superformance, and they are also licensed as a 1966 Cobra. The ones that Carol Shelby puts his Ford Shelby motor's in have the original CXS Serial Numbers on them.
Thank You

So... you were saying?

@slggrsrus s not that easy to get an 100% original cobra.
I bet you dont own any Shelby Cobra.

@CSnakeV you're a very unsuccessful troll, you know that?
slggrsrus 7 months ago
@slggrsrus You know that youre wasting time annoying other people?
And how you know its fiberglass, smart prick?
CSnakeV 7 months ago

@CSnakeV he doesn't, see my reply to him, info is all out there.

@CSnakeV
the story goes that there was a Ford Big Block 427 FE motor sitting in the back of Shelby's shop that somehow found its way in the the Cobra Roadster and the 427 Cobra was born.

@3561jlh1961 Handling sucks compared to the 289 Cobra. Put them both on a tight road course with equal drivers, the 289 will likely win.

where is the proof that it's a real ac cobra...? it's probably a replica and ways if it was a original ac cobra he sure as hell would have to be rich cause those things are freaking expensive in the states. my dad have a 429 550 bhp ac cobra so i know quite a bit about them.

...yes, I was wondering how it would be an original with a Roush engine in it, or why someone with an original would put a Roush in it...8)
americasfirstfreedom 2 years ago
It's a great looking car, but I why refer to it as an original. Clearly it's not. It's every bit a replica even though it came from the Shelby Factory... assuming that's true. Go ahead and enjoy the car, but please don't represent it...you'll really piss off the owners of the *real* originals.
netshop01 2 years ago
Actually Carol Shelby calls them a Continuation of the original, and uses VIN numbers that leave off from original.
There are two companies that he buys the bodies from depending if you want glass or aluminum..
The Superformance MKIII Cobra is built better and handles better than the original . As does the Kirkham Cobra...
