It's a spiritual sequel to Operation Flashpoint (both made by the same company - Bohemia Interactive Studio). Work on that started way before CoD was ever released.
@soleman68 Yea first game (Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis) was released in 2001, Call of Duty was released in 2003. Call of Duty 4 was released in 2007, but ArmA (ArmA 1) was released in May 2007, several months before Call of Duty 4. Plus the games are nothing alike, this is a very realistic simulator, CoD and BF are very "run-n-gun"
@soleman68 Yeah, the trailer might make it look like it, but it really is SO much more you can't really describe it in a few lines of text or a video.
Bohemia Interactive's original Operation Flashpoint and ArmA were more about the gameplay then anything else. The graphics are not great but they are still good. I'm just not so sure about Operation Flashpoint 2 by Codemaster's they did not even make the first game and yet they take credit for it.
No... the new COD4 will me Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 that comes out this November and COD is an arcade shooter, not a sim shooter. So this will be NOTHING like it, it will be alot more realistic. with helos, vehicles, tanks, boats ect.
I said the rendered cinematic trailer doesn't count. If it's any of the other videos (and I believe I've seen most of them) then it does NOT look better than what I've seen from ArmA2.
yea, i know they are like the creators of operation flashpoint 1 and all, but what have they done since then? not alot, i mean just look at the AI movement ect... wtf? still buying it tho lol
I agree, i will be buying both. It seems both are in competition of both. But the thing with ArmA 2 they still do not have the sound effects matched correctly which urks me a lot and did when AmrA vanilla was released.
@soleman68 are u fucking kidding me this game has been in dev for about 10 years your just a faggot ass cod fan boy

arma2 needs much more than crysis. the grafic/engine isn't really better, but these huge maps needs so damn much performance..

thats only for CPU... Crysis needs better hardware but Arma 2 is awesome too.

hell no, arma is terrible for fun and gameplay, its nothing like cod games for bf games
sgtheadhole 2 years ago
Actually I find arma way more fun than the COD games in every way.
And just so you don't think I'm some arma fanboy I've been playing cod since COD1 and UO for the pc.

Most of CodeMaster's games are pretty bad. I'm just going to go with the original creators.
