@jrich23own I just bought this one, and its good for metal like Lamb of God Slipknot type stuff if you want Metalcore/Deathcore get the Metalcore Pedal it is amazing and simple
@metalpride15 Well both of those amps are great so it depends what you like more. Dual recto has more bass than the Peavey however the Peavey is a lot tighter sounding. Also the Mesa has a better ckean channel. I myself am looking to buying the Hughes and Kettner switchblade which also kicks some major ass
@metalpride15 Nah I just don't like the sound of the Metalzone that's all. Music is all about your taste so someone might say this pedal rocks someone might say there is something they like better. By the way I don't use this pedal too much anymore as I bought a very good tube amp and prefer it's high gain channel to any pedal so that is that
what would be good amp settings to have behind the pedals settings? I keep getting a nasley sound or an extremely bassy sound, right now my amp settings are, LOW at 4, MID at 1, HIGH at 7, then my pedals settings are currently: volume at 5, MID freq at full, GAIN at full, and the eq settings match my amp, i was wondering if anybody could give me some suggestions ofr a Metallica "Kill em all" type tone, i would greatly appriciate it, Thank you
new to pedals um. would this change the sound a roland cude and sound just like that? btw holy shit u play the exact same song as i do seek n destroy , painkiller, south of heaven cool dude
@MrIplayguitar Get a noise gate. The feedback that is also the "12 year old bitch on her first period" will go away when the gate is engaged. The most common noise gates are the BOSS NS-2 Noise Supressor.
@ZakkBarros1990 it cuts out this annoying fuzz and feedback out from the guitar. basically if ur not touching the strings it wont make a noise, its sorta like a cigarette filter. cuts out the bad stuff. because high freaquency pickups make sure that u touch a string so ever lightly and it feels like its hit. the noise gate cuts it off
I like the scoop (not the pooper scoop), sounds better than the Metal Zone Boss I used to have. That top middle button is really nice, totally alter the sound, like completely different pedals. I like sound at 2:12-2:44. The Jake E. Lee at the end sounds awesome too. I think I am convinced on getting this pedal. Seems to be the best metal pedal. I need something for my AC30, cause, I play other stuff rather than just AC30 type sounds...I like heavy also.
the metal zone can be modded to sound really nice. I don't like the fullbore, too tinny and thin. Metal muff is tight, but I'd use that to play The Sword over regular metal.
@mmim4 Definitely Megadeth. I'm not sure about Iron Maiden though, it has too much treble in it. But a Metal Muff is a good pedal for Iron Maiden stuff, it even has a Top Boost for solos.
How do you adjust the noise gate to be efficient? I know how to get to the noise gate by removing the back of the pedal but what I mean is that the noise gate seems to cut the sound to early...Can you tell me what setting you have on it? Thanks!
i hate this pedal it has too much mids and lows and highs, and the frequency dial doesnt make a difference the pedal still sounds like crap. i did what my frend told me to do and get a digitech death metal pedal and i like that one more then the fullbore pedal
@metalmaster1992 I didn't like the Digitech. It was way too thin sounding and the fact you can't turn down the gain to tighten things up really doesn't fly with me.
I am new to pedals. So can anyone help me set up a good sound with this pedal for system of a down songs like aerials and chop suey!? I keep my amp settings all at 12 o clock so its clean. I dont know shit about pedals lol.
def the pedal to get if your gonna need a shitload of gain but it just sounds like something is missing. It sounds mabe compressed or something i just cant hear any body in the dynamic range olf this pedal
man i was trying the boss metalcore in guitarguitar and one of the guys working there comes up with the fullbore and says "you have to play this pedal".
I just have one question, I currently use LTD, should I save up and get an ESP, or switch to Dean or Jackson? or get a Charvel like the one in this video, so far, I like the guitar tone in this video.
dude you want a bad ass metal sound get Marshall or a Randall amp and get and overdrive drive pedal you get a more tube like sound and all the gain in the world
hey this is a random question, but i noticed the one volume on your guitar, does anyone know the difference between bypassing the tone knob and turning the tone knob all the way down?
I get my Fullbore pedal Monday afternoon from Musiciansfriend. I tried this pedal out at guitar center. This pedal made a shity amp set up they had sound like a Messa Tripple Rectfier, which is dream amp I want. I got an Ibanez TBH-100, a solid state amp and I got a digiteach Metal Master pedal running in front. I am praying this pedal will help me out big time.
I have owned the Tri-Axis/SimilClass 290 rig.I have owned a Dual Rec.I have owned Marshall JCM2000. Right now I am running a Carvin V3($850) through a Marshall 4x12(the same one I ran the other heads through)& it sounds better than ALL of them.If I were buying all over I would buy a Soldano Decatone($3K) or ENGL-S.E. 6L6/EL34($4K) or Invader100($3K)/150($4K)...BUT the BEST is Fractual Audio Axe-FX Ultra($1500) w/ a Carvin TS100 power amp($550) w/4x12($800).It has EVERYTHING & I've tried them all
Metal zone sucks I tried it and it isn't good. Our other guitarist in my band uses the metal muff and its really good but I myself use the fullbore and I think it owns both those pedals as it has a noise gate which is really a great feature and also it's true bypass which means you won't lose an signal. I myself would recommend the fullbore
The metal zone can be okay if you tweak it A LOTTT. The problem is that if any of the knobs gets bumped your tone can go out of the window. I use the metal zone and it's pretty applyable in different settings. I even once achieved an overdrive-like sound by cranking down the distortion all the way.
But still you have to modify it for it to sound quite okay while the fullbore is ready to go right after you get it out of the box. That's why a lot of pro guitarists use MXR pedals
I totally agree man. Fullbore owns both of those pedals you said before. It has more hair and bottom.. .What to say, but I think Boss ML-2 Metal Core sounds good too
@AntaresX9 In my experience, the fullbore couldn't really do anything outside of palm mutes. Anything with chords fell apart, for leads it sounded terribly and kept this weird awkward notch sound. I much prefer the Emma PY-1, as funny as the name is... it did the super tight articulate palm mute but did everything else the fullbore falls short of.
@hendrix184, r u serious about the metal muff breaking within a week? I just got mine on thursday. I guess i'll know on monday if it works or not.. Wow, im really starting to dig this pedal, i think i might go get it today.
all depends on your pickups if your a headbanger get an active set like emg 81 85 or 81 60 or even the seymour duncan blackouts amp dosent matter all you need is a clean channel to run it through the wattage will just be less loud unless its shit it will muffle the distortion but 25 is good
hehe no i'm not a head banger!! :p i just play for fan and i'm a big fan of metal! yeah i have an esp ltd kh602 with 2x emg81 so i think i'll have a good sound even with my actual amp! cheers!
don't get active pickups. get some high output passives. if you get actives you'll definitely regret it. your guitar will sound sterile and you'll chew threw batteries
I have to disagree, I have EMGs in my les paul, I rarely have to change the battery & they get an awesome natural organic, classic rock & metal tone. There are a lot of great passive pickups out there but I wouldnt trade my EMGs for anything else. Active pickups sounding sterile is a myth too many people buy into.
I've only changed batteries on mine twice, and one was because I thought the guitar wasn't working but it was actually some problem with the soundboard.
seriously!? that's alot better than i thought. i played my friend's ibanez and we had to change the batteries even though he changed them a week before
Another thing is if you leave it plugged in, even if the amp's not on the battery will drain.
The thing about active pickups is they generally give you a lot of diversity. On one of my amps I can get a bluesy overdrive on the neck pup and switch to the bridge and get an almost metal sound.
yeah buddy, this pedal has alot of bass, i never was really into distortion pedals kuz of the lack of bass and clarity, but this pedal by far won me over, its a great pedal buddy, i wouldnt lie to u, ive been playin for almost a decade haah so i think i can throe my two sense in there, hope that helps buddy!
k so as nice as that gate switch is and all and the super amount of punch this thing packs i still cant decide between the metal muff and the fulllbore. i play music mostly like the sword stoner rock and a lot of doom metal. which would work better
don't get the metal muff, i bought it and i went through like 5 cause they kept breaking, iv'e got a solid state marshall half stack and when i play loud with that pedal it sounds like pure shit
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Seriously dude, it doesnt have good bottom end. WHat I recommend you doing is either get a tube or solid state ( I prefer tube) and make sure it has a mid freq. control. Then go buy a BOSS metalcore pedal. That's a REAL metal sound
well...its a boss...don't even have the basic true bypass...The only boss pedal is worth getting is DS-1 & CE-3. But DS-1 are still not use-able until Keeley mod...
A mid heavy pickup like a SD Invader or a Dimarzio Super 3 would be great with this I think.

The thing about active pickups is they generally give you a lot of diversity. On one of my amps I can get a bluesy overdrive on the neck pup and switch to the bridge and get an almost metal sound.

i've played active, i like the tones for lead work, but i just love the warmth and presence of passives imo

k so as nice as that gate switch is and all and the super amount of punch this thing packs i still cant decide between the metal muff and the fulllbore. i play music mostly like the sword stoner rock and a lot of doom metal. which would work better
irnman1120 2 years ago
don't get the metal muff, i bought it and i went through like 5 cause they kept breaking, iv'e got a solid state marshall half stack and when i play loud with that pedal it sounds like pure shit
i'm ordering this pedal today

are u sure there's enough bottom end !?
almostsk8er01 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Seriously dude, it doesnt have good bottom end. WHat I recommend you doing is either get a tube or solid state ( I prefer tube) and make sure it has a mid freq. control. Then go buy a BOSS metalcore pedal. That's a REAL metal sound

Boss metalcore sux. and i know beacause i got it.

Nahh man. Prob yer amp.
InFuriatedShadows 2 years ago
well...its a boss...don't even have the basic true bypass...The only boss pedal is worth getting is DS-1 & CE-3. But DS-1 are still not use-able until Keeley mod...
