  • i like these vids! you do good work

  • i see your technique, and it is pretty damn good, i also finish drywall professionally. if you keep the corner of the knife that is further away from the bead slightly turned so as to "snow plow" the mud into the void it gets it fuller faster and reduces air bubbles, helping little the end product, but it will allow you to do it faster with the same result, which makes a difference if you've got 50 to coat.

  • I'm looking at all the high walls and ceilings behind you and I wonder how you do this day in day out.

  • Ok yes u showed them to do one side lol but you should have sholwed them how to both sides cause all the acces that runs on that side u just made oh so pretty lol make it even do the other side and then go back make sure both sides are pretty not one side at a timethat will drive a person crazy noobies will be like what the hell lol

  • paper da best,or use fibre mesh wit usg sheetrock, awsim stuff...

  • Mesh tape is for beveled joints only, not butt joints or corners. If you use mesh you really need to use durabond(quickset), it is less likely to crack.

  • @stutts59 I agree 100%. However, I use the new perfect finish mesh tape if I use mesh on butts. It is flatter and much tighter. I always completely prefill the joint and always use quickset.

  • HOW TO MAKE A HOW TO VIDEO

Step one - turn off the compressor.

  • @MJCPeters I'll take that.

  • Wow i'm only 18 years old, and i've worked in drywall for 3 years. i bet i can do a way better job than any guy on all these youtube videos.

  • @lilrob98765 Wow! Thats a big statement for a youngster. I'm sure you can do a great job, but you have do it fast enough to make money yet good enough to make a living.

  • @lilrob98765 that's awesome! you could post some videos of you working to help the people out who came here looking for "how-to"s. That way those of us new to the stuff would have lots of experienced people to watch

  • @lilrob98765 - You would gamble with your words, that you with 3yrs (if that) do a "way better job" than ANY GUY? on ALL these vids?

Your lack of appreciation of those who have spent YEARS of perfecting this craftsmanship reflects the lack of maturity in the 3yrs (if that) that you have wasted during that time.

Over confidence & inexperience will always produce a result that makes you look like a total fool.

  • @lilrob98765 Lmao, with only 3 years in drywall you talk a lot of shit. You have a long way to go before you can talk like that

  • TheCactus71 like you I use mesh tape. I don't do this for a living but I have put up and finished drywall a lot over the years on my own properties and have gotten pretty good at it. The last number of years I have used mesh and, now I am worried that it will crack as indicated in an earlier comment. My house at the beach, I completely sheetrocked and used mesh tape exclusively with general purpose mud instead of the quick set. Should I be worried??

  • @nonexistantme The fact that you used all purpose (general purpose) mud makes me feel a little better especially if you didn't thin it down too much with water as this weakens the mud further. The good news is that general purpose mud has a lot of glue which makes the mud bond better than topping mud or light weight mud. What is done is done. Just don't worry about something that may not happen. Worry never helps, it only hinders.

  • So mesh slightly onto the metal is not a standard huh ? Paper is too thick People simply do not tape the corner beads I presume.... Correct?

  • So mesh slightly onto the metal is not standard eh? Seems to fill the void pretty nicely

  • sorry bro, ive been doin drywall for 13 yrs, never would i ever mesh tape anything.....professional, i think not. try using paper my friend, your customers will appreciate no cracks in 10 yrs!

  • @iepatjonas Mesh tape would have never made it on the market this many years if it were a problem. The key to mash tape is that you must use quick set for first coat. If you follow that fact, you will not have problems with mesh tape.

  • @TheCactus71 l like your videos and you definately know what you are talking about. You took a page right out of the usg construction handbook when you stated that you need to use a quick setting type mud for the first coat when using mesh tape. But mesh tape, according to the usg construction handbook, was primarily developed for plastering and anything can last on the market if people think its an easy way out

  • @iepatjonas your right never use mesh

  • You fricken rock!

  • Professional at work!

You make it look easy. What about mud prep are there any tricks?

  • For powder mud, add between three to four inches of water to a five gallon bucket then add whole bag of powder. Mix, then add small amounts of water with sponge until mud is smooth and workable.

  • For premixed mud, mix before adding water. Some mud will cream up nice without adding water. If mud is still too firm, add no more than enough water to make it workable. Add no more than a half sponge of water.

  • @TheCactus71 you're as good as he is.
