I think one of the reasons why Dick van Dyke is such an incredible actor, is because he makes his face convey a complete variety of emotions and feelings.

He doesn't need to act his way to show you that he's caring, angry, jealous, loving, fearful etc.

When he plays the part, he can convince the audience, due to his demeanour, expressions and acting ability that he is going through whatever his character is experiencing.

In this respect, his casting as Dr. Mark Sloan was one the finest.

@BettingSupremo Diagnosis Murder was just a crap rip-off of Murder She Wrote. Dick Van Dyke was already far too old to play Dr Sloan when it started. I guess the only reason he made this crap was to keep his talentless son Barry employed.

The opening and ending music in this season was a lot better than the previous seasons....I just wish the stupid announcer on BBC1 would shut up when the end music is playing lately....

Yes - the ending was quite a surprise to the episode before this one - because they had captured Carter Sweeney and it pretty much seemed the story had wrapped up per the formula in the final seconds of the show...and then...the most dramatic sequence of events ever for the show appears.

My favourite story from Diagnosis Murder Obsession from the end of season 5 and Resurrection from the start of season 6. I love this version of the theme as well. And isn't the building blowing up the scene from the start of Lethal Weapon 3?
