A load sensing pump would make better use of the limited HP you have there. HHP=PSIxGPM/1714, you have too many GPM for high pressure digging, if the pump could destroke you could save the rpm's from dropping

Handy little machine! But it seems like you have to keep that gas engine revved up so high just to get power to dig, making it not very smooth. Have you seen a similar model to this one, but with a diesel engine?

@hystat Just a pressure compensated pump would work better. I'm sure it has a gear pump in it. The pump is just too big.
