  • Took my breath away. Was there forever in 87 and felt like I belonged there! It brought back sweet memories of the best times of my life! The long trail to the beach that disappeared when the tide came in, the fruit salads, the living on top of the roof as the rooms where too hot. Juma and Swalii and all the other wonderful people we met. I will never forget this place

  • I was there from 83-85. The new hospitial was being built. My place was across from the old hospital up from the market. The Yoghurt Inn and the Equator were favorite places and Ali Hippie was a character.

I was a teacher at the Lamu Boys Secondary School and it tokok me six months to learn how to slow down. Pole, pole sana.

    Andy

  • I was students of Lamu Boys Secondary, Were u chemistry teacher from Canada? It should be someone else coz I started 1991. What were u teaching?

  • No, I was an English teacher from '83 - '85. The new hospital was just being built at that time. I lived across from the old hospital near the Lamu Market.

It was an absolutely wonderful place to live and work. I long to return and see how things are, someday.

    What are you currently doing?

I hope to hear from you again,

    Andy Christensen, CWS-II

  • I am a student in United Kingdom. Where are you from?

  • WOW. I lived in Lamu for almost three years and boy does this bring memories back. There is actually one brief shot of my house with red roof (at 33 seconds) in the middle.

This is an amzing and unique place in a crazy, busy world.

    Thanks so much

    Andy Christensen

  • Dear Andy:
