  • Wow..your really good. Im just learning how to play this song (on the steel pan too) and its actually harder than it looks. =) good job

  • @Zenakusama fur elise is a hard song on any instrament

  • this is beautiful man. 5 stars

  • this truely made my day. i love this i used to play things like this back when i played.

  • really guys??? steel pans only for reggae and caribbean music??? really? its like saying the guitar is only for country and rock....

  • there is no set type of music for a specific instrument, music is music no matter what kind of instrument you use to make it

  • i got to say. i don't know why people play classical on a steel drum. its not made for classical. its made for the caribbean. I don't know thats just my saying

  • um do you even play? probly not =P know your facts. like nate said, music is music, steelpan is for everything!!! plus, it sounds AMAZING! so what ever haha

  • that's because you have no vision...

  • ..maybe we should only use drums for Afircan music..

  • @jasonman1515

At many steel pan competitions, jason, the bands are required to play a classic piece and a Caribbean piece to show the versatility of the band (and the instrument).

If you did a proper search for classical steel, you might be shocked to hear the accuracy and the beauty of steel bands playing classics.

  • Wow!! I'm not accustomed to hearing steelpans playing anything but reggae, but I think I can say that was flawless. I particularly enjoyed the passage that came in around 1:08 or so.

    Quite lovely/1

  • it sounds very good! ^-^ Sounds really nice with the steel pans!

  • XD Nathan, great job!

  • good

  • which two genres? I only see one... classical music. Steelpan is an instrument, not a genre.

  • The best of two genres coming together :-)

  • Ive never done the youtube message thing so im not sure if goes through, so here it is:

I am seeking your permission to use the sound from this for an video project I am doing. I will give you full credit and any contact info if you wish. THANK YOU so much! I am in awe.

  • cool

  • excellent

  • i love when you play clasic songs, nathan

  • just so everyone is clear there is tenor (thats one pan) double tenor (thats two pans) the echo pan (thats three pans) the guitar pan (thats two pans) cello (thats three pans) the tenor bass (thats four pans) and bass (witch is six pans) now this list is from the pan with highest octave to the pan with the lowest octave.........IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE COMMENT ME THEM OK

  • ive been playin pan all my life. i never heard of an echo pan. is that like a quadrophonix which is. or do u mean double seconds which is??

  • no its three pans about the size of a double tenor not many people have heard of it sooo

  • oooooooooo i kno wat ur talkin about. but i never heard it being called an echo pan

  • what do you know it by?

  • Triple guitar

  • i would tell u all the pans i kno in order. high C tenor(1), Low c tenor(1), saprano pan(1), double tenor(2), double seconds(2), quadrophonics(4), double guitar(2), triple guitar(3),four pan(4), rocket pan(forgot), tenor bass(4) (there is another tenor bass but i forgot the name), 6 bass, 7 bass, 9 bass, and last is the 12 bass... and i hope u think im not dissin u

  • not at all thank you for the list

  • oo ok no problem

  • wheres triple tenor? triple seconds? 3 pan cello? single second? 8 bass? quad tenor?

Not saying you don't know your stuff but these pans are equally as important.

    DONT FORGET THEM!

  • but i mainly name the more common ones. i kno only one band in trinidad i could be wrong, with a triple seconds and that desper... but i never heard of a single second... is that like the big tenor..

  • a single second is basically the same as double seconds. Just a lot less notes. sound the same though. I find it hard to belive trinidad dont have these pans but ok. pan seems to be growing faster than it's orginal home anyway. which isn't a bad thing.

  • i learned that they actually do have single double seconds in trinidad and they use it for pan around the next bands

  • hey chill out

  • no need to tell me that. Just letting him know. And nice to see you looked it up. Keep pan real.

    Listen out

  • There are leads, doubles, triples, and the basses.

Leads are just 1 pan, Doubles are 2 pans, Triple are 3 pans, and Basses if I remember correctly are 6 pans.

  • brilliantly played

    you definitely mastered that classic

I play pan as well check out my videos if you want

i'll be uploading some new ones soon

  • will you teach me?? you are very good!

  • kewl! do steel drums always come in 2's? cuz like all the vids ive seen have 2. and are they like the same pitches and w/e?

  • no there is deference in tone

i play double tenor and those are two pans/ but there is tenor thats one pan and the highest one too/the tenor bass thats four pans/the bass thats six pans and the lowest/the echo pan thats three pans and a couple more.

thanks for the comment please be on the look out for more and feel free to ask me anything else=D

  • ok, lets say i was going to buy some, which ones do i want?the same as you? and wat are the price ranges? *gets daddys credit card out*haha

  • well mine aren't the hardest but there not the easiest either the easiest pan (to me) are the tenor pan

now pans can range for $500 to 5,000 it depends on what pan you get and what you what done to it like holes in it which makes it sound cooler if you what it chromed stuff like that.......there expensive because they are all HAND MADE so the more you what the more they what

  • if you are just going to be playing on your own for fun you are probably better getting a single tenor. They are the easiest to play as well as the cheapest, i play Single Tenor in a steelband but i also play Double seconds

  • dude, he's on the Victory Steel Orchestra of NY

  • amazingly amazing, i never knew steel pan could be so sweet

  • WOW,VERY COOL!:)

  • Great job!

  • thank for the feed back=)

  • you sound like that guy from the concert in Patchogue!
