when ever my younger brother and sisters played football it would mind its own bussiness snifing about until a stanger ot close to them and in a flash she would start barking at them telling them to back off .dobes will put their lifes in danger to protect u .and it don matter if your frend play with it i always knows that their not family and the only master is u . dobes constant keep check to make sure your safe and secure and will never hurt u just protect and that in my opinin is a real dog

This is not true if u buy a pup from a reputable breeder. My best friend has European imported dobermans and they are the sweetest dogs ever. But make sure u do ur reseach on the breed and make sure it is the right dog for u. They r working dogs and if u cant devote alot of time to excursing them then they will destroy ur house and potentially become aggressive. And just make sure the breeder ur buying from is a good reputable breeder and the pups and parents r healthy.

As far as cropping there ears, I let the owners decide that, but people crop ears because it makes the dog look tougher. also it is considered breed standard, so in order to show the dog, the ears need to be cropped. I myself like the crop look and I raise purebreds so I only sell to people that I meet to make sure they go to a good home. I don't sell to shops kid.

Can you train a Doberman to be nice to people? but still know when to attack unwanted people? I know dumb question but there are Dobermen that are very violent to people outside of their family

@johnmerritt Doberman are socialized the way the family socializes them... they're not "mean" by instinct. Thats kind of an insulting question... *breathes*... Protection training is ONLY done with adult dogs who have already mastered basic, advanced, and off-leash obedience. Some doberman do well with it, and some don't have the personality for protection training.

The simplest answer I have is... if you're basing getting your dog off who you want them to attack, get a chihuahua...

@timetoparty11 Please don't... once weened, milk is generally NOT healthy for mammals. Mothers milk, then dog food. If you're worried about bone problems, buy from a reputable breeder who does genetic testing for bone/hip problems. Milk will not stop hip dysplasia even if you tried.

If you do have a dog with bone/hip problems, good suppliments like Phycox should be added to their diet. My older dobe is on Phycox and he runs around like he never had arthritus.
