  • hey thanks ! :) yeah that piece is amazing have to listen to it and learn a bit before I record lol anyway thanks again and have a nice weekend already :)

    ~Eeco

  • Lovely playing. Do you know his other version, on CD slower, very blue, with some off-the-beat right hand (I'm not a musician). And another thing: can you record a really good copy of Big Maceo's Chicago Breakdown? No one on YouTube does it any favours.

  • I know a chicago breakdown but I dont know if thats the one you mean..I see what I can do ;P

  • Re Chicago Breakdown sorry, his full name's Big Maceo Merryweather, and that's the title track of one of his CDs. Definitely worth tracking down. And playing!

  • You learned this by ear?! :O Amazing!

  • thanks :) yes its a gift I know ..

  • really beautiful m8...any idea where can i find the sheet music?

  • sorry, I dont know, Ive learned this piece by ear , good luck with searching , bye Eeco

  • well done fantastic!!

  • thank you ^^

  • Beautiful. A dobro in the background would sound nice.

  • thanks , yes that would sound great

  • Besser kann das nur Jimmy Yancey spielen!!!!!

  • I don't know how he came up with "Freaky" as a "handle". Probably from some gal in the bar when he sat down and started to play.I can't read a note of music...I'm not sure Eeco can. Maybe he does. All I know is that you can't play the way he does from sheet music. It comes from somewhere else.

  • from my heart and brain :)

  • Superb !

  • Thanks! :) have fun!

  • This is so warm, southern and relaxed piece of piano blues. You're great!

  • Really really nice.

If you ever see my name in Holland, performing, please stop by and say hello.

    Steve Freund

  • thats sexy i love it

  • If you were close to me, I'd love to play music with you for sure.

  • Do you perform for a living?

  • no,I wish..

  • Why not? If you ask me, you (and cam1987 for that matter) are just as soulful as Meade Lewis or Albert Ammons. I sincerely mean that. In fact, I prefer listening to you guys than the others. You should be paid for your talent. Cheers to you!

  • Eeco, it's the balance between your two hands that is so remarkable. The steadiness and accuarcy of that left hand of yours sets up all the diddlin' and piddlin' of the right hand. Whatever you've played for us, fast, slow, and in between, the left hand is really always right on. Always liked this tune with the move to minor chord to promote its melancholy.

  • Yeah Yeah!!!

  • how did ya learn this one sheet music ?

  • no, I learned it from my teacher.

  • nope from cd :)

  • Top quality from the beginning to the end again! Another thing: It's very good and kind of You to have the top down camera perspective, so people can see your hands when You're playing, and learn from You. All the best /Rounder

  • sorr about the double comments everyone, the first one didn't show up and I thopught that it didn't post :) lol

Eeco has slugged out another Boogie Woogie Homer in the upper deck :)

  • no problem, I appreciate what your saying so it's ok :D, keep swinging!

    Eeco

  • Thanks buddy :), I'm gonna start working on a few accompanying bass lines, that I can play on a regular guitar, just to see how it sounds because that was 1 of the first things I learned, when I began playing by ear, in order to learn how to get the sound and feel of the song/piece right :)

I'll see how it goes and maybe make a video of my playing along to one of your videos Eeco, but I'll experiment before uploading anything :)

    Thanks again buddy :)

  • Kick back and enjoy folks...ahhhhhhh Eeco is the man.

  • Nice one Eeco! :) I love the changes between the slow and faster bases - almost like a lead break! :)

    Cam

  • Jimmy Yancey recorded this piece twice, I think he may have felt that he just didn't get it perfected to the way he wanted it to sound the first time, but both versions sound great :)

Thank you soo much Eeco, you have got this song nailed, for the same sound and feel, as well as playing it in your own style, which is just makes it even better to hear :)

    Top rating as always :)

  • THANK YOU EECO!!, I love this boogie, it's one of my all time faves :), I have the original by Jimmy Yancey on a 4CD Box Set of Jimmy Yancey, Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons :)

Top rating every time :), Thank you again Eeco for recording your version of this piece, it's a nice and smooth as the original, but at the same time, still in your exact style :)

  • Wasn't this song from Meade Lux Lewis?? Tom
