To understand the different pronunciations for the letter K in Swedish, you have to single out the vowell that comes AFTER the letter K (that can be strong or weak). For instante, "y" is a weak vowell whereas "a" is a strong one. That's why K have different sounds in words like "kyrka". Strong vowels are a, o, u, and a with the little circle above it. The other ones are weak (that includes "y").
