The dark background makes you look you're a floating head. Also... you're tinted yellow. Unless you went to a really bad tanning booth, I think your white ballance is off.

Yeah, the colour is yellowish :( The camera suddenly goes like this sometimes. If I turn it off and on again it usually changes back to white - but this time it didn't. Any ideas why? Is my camera just half broken or am I doing something wrong?

There's usually a place where you can select "Auto White Balance", change the white balance to one of a number of presets, or do a custom white balance. It's part of the camera setup menu so it's particular to each camera and I can't tell you where yours will be. Sometime, there's also a buttom to push that essentially sets "Everything to Auto."
