  • They sent a single DC banker to push it up from the rear about 30 minutes later. That shot of the train going round the corner to the Mount at Matata was right outside where I used to stay. They have to flatten the gas at around Edgecumbe so they have enough momentum to make it up the hill. There's been many an occasion where their motors have burnt out going up the hill. On rare occasions, there are as many as four DCs and DXRs hauling a load. Do you have video of the Murupara Express?

  • @HotForgeChaos Thanks for the comment, I only have one vid of a Murupara train uploaded - arriving at Kawerau. I'll hopefully be shooting more footage around this area later this year, including the Murupara Line. Cheers.

  • That's not unusual to see a single DC doing the run to Kawerau, but odd doing the return run. That isn't a particularly big load however. Last week, there was a DC and a DXR hauling a whopper of a load to the Mount and got stuck on the hill at Matata. The DC on the front stopped right outside my old mans room at 5 in the morning. He tried to get it moving for about 20 minutes but in the end he gave up and rolled it back down the hill to the siding at Awakaponga. cont' next post
