  • This is by far the best theme song ever written.

  • Sounds like a national anthem.

  • @Badgaldinger lol it is if you think about it

  • I like the intro with Patrick Macnee before the theme starts.

  • So repetitive and it makes me think of Airplane 2!

  • Dude, music is bad ass. I whistle it everywhere because I just can't get it out of my head. Kids at school are even getting annoyed with me.

  • @TheBlackSkimmer The only piece worth a whistle :')

  • @ThulaniAulis lol so true so true

  • best TV Theme evar

  • Old Theme >> any of the new music.

To be fair, the new show is much better than the old one in nearly every other respect!

  • @lmackenzie89 It's a bit like comparing apples and oranges. The old show was heroic space opera, while the new show was a gritty war drama. All depends on personal taste.

  • @lmackenzie89 Too bad the new show could never even come close this beautiful musical arrangement for a theme song for a TV series. I hate pot face as adama rly?? LMAO. he's a good actor but far too fucking ugly to be in this role

  • @julianuknow Doesn't matte rhow good they look, if the acting is good, all else is null and void.

  • @lmackenzie89 I like both versions of Battlestar Galactica..

  • i guess they may be droids too as they are jealous that the cylons could not have a living commander to own shit

  • @Noobkille301 but they did... Baltar was given a Base star, and control over every thing there... Infact he was high up for his betrayal

  • the dislikes ,must be the star wars clones

  • i read online and on twitter that a new Battlestar Galactica Movie fo the theaters next year based on the Original show. The reply to that is " AWESOME ! "

Galatica was Apple Pie wholesome, the characters were Great and the Galatica herself is a Theatrical Quality Ship tha will fill the Seats at the Theaters.

    Box Office Heaven !

  • Who can name shown persons? ^^

  • @Maridianokusho Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia Cassiopeia and uhhhhhh, oh yeah, Cassiopeia ;)

  • @SixtyMinded You should have added where she is in this pc. ^^

But Cassiopeia is only one person...

  • @Maridianokusho asked: "Who can name the shown persons?" I can!

Let's see... we have Thirty Something Looking White Guy, Thirty something Looking Black Guy, Hot Chick Number One, Lorne Green, Hot Chick Number Two, that Terrorist Dude, Hot Chick Number Three, and the Sex Change Operation Dude (pre-op).

Oh yeah... and in the background, Aspiring Actor Dude, putting in his dues and thrilled as shit to have gotten the gig even though the costume chaffs his ass.

  • @Marc3c LOL! xD

  • Thumbs up if you like the original series better than the new one.

  • @Rampage470 By itself the new series were tolorable but the old ones were just epic, well, except the 1980's series.

  • Best TV theme ever. I prefer the viper jock uniforms in the original too

  • By the close of the twentieth century, construction of colonies on the lunar surface had begun and with this colonization came a new era in space travel. As our story opens, Mayflower 1, the first passenger shuttle to the moon, prepares for its maiden voyage--a voyage filled with hope, yet destined for disaster.

  • Meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far away, Princess Amoura lay back in her bed as the handsome young knight entered the room. The princess slipped off her robe, revealing her silky white thighs. The knight embraced her roughly, and began to caress her soft, round...

  • superCruiser.. you're an idiot.

  • this often servers as a reminder to me man's reach for peace but comes undone to the point that with only the hope to carry on is left!

  • This song is epic! Frakkin' epic!

Why the 20 dislikes? Must be cyclons. . .I guess there 20 cyclons out there who wish they had a theme song as epic as this!

  • Lieutenant Starbuck of the Colonial Service gets free coffee at Starbucks, for life !

  • @nazgulero Ambrosa flavoured?

  • @nazgulero offcourse stupid, his grandfather started starbucks coffee xD

  • NICE

  • LOVE THIS!! Thank you for posting!!

  • *cue slow motion walk to the aircrafts* 0:00 to 0:47

  • The french horn is seriously the best orchestral instrument for science fiction scores. Nothing beats it.

  • Where would the Original Galactica have been Constructed ? At the Caprica Spaceyards ?

Where her Sister Battlestars ; Columbia, Atlantia, Pegasus and Triton have been Elsewhere ? The Original Series is still Theatrical and Epic and Impossible to top when it was at it's Best. What could happen Next in the Original Galactica Universe ? Too bad we never got to see an episode set onboard the Galactica in the Early days of Adama, Tigh, Cain and Kronus when they were Fighter Pilots themselves.

  • 20 people are probably frackin Cylons!

  • I too love both, they the original was perfect for when I was a kid & the "re-imagined" BSG was the best TV series ever...

  • Throughout the new version the hybrids and various characters kept saying 'All of this has happened before and will happen again.'. I look at that as a way of saying why couldn't the original series have happened first? Ridiculous I know but it shows you don't have to discard one series over another. Having watched the original 'movie' I noticed they did try to be gritty but within boundaries 70's family shows had to abide by. Sure it's cheesy and cheap doesn't mean one has to kick the other out

  • I think it is wonderful they let the original Apollo who's name escapes me, play Tom Zarec in the newer show. Either way he is still Epic.

  • Listen, I haven't watched the original series. But the new one showed so much about how humanity is flawed. And the whole religous war was pretty awsome. The new one kicked ass. And anyone who couldn't understand it really makes what the cylons did justified.

  • unsterblich !

  • Imagine if this song was playing at the time of the D-Day invasion against the Germans. I think the Germans would have surrendered right there and then.

  • @OldSchool710 Most likely

  • @OldSchool710

except they didnt fight germans, but the nazis...

  • jeugdsentiment was toen keigoe

  • @SteelWolf13; well said, i agree BIG time!

  • i dunno why the changed starbuck into a woman

  • Putting the same name to a great series doesn't a new classic make.

One of my ex GF's was in the original series as an 8 y/o wonderchild piloting a shuttle.

  • epic music

  • All remakes are 2nd rate copies, writers have exhausted every original idea and are completely killing everyting I loved as a kid ! BOO !

  • 20 dislikes? Frakking cylons.

  • @SuperCruiser72 1. It's a joke.

    2. He knows Cyclons don't exist (see point number 1)

    3. In keeping with points 1 and 2, chill out.

  • @SteelWolf13 20 Cylons? Maybe it's only one Baltar!

  • epic

  • Thumbs up if you watched BG as a kid waiting for the next ORIGINAL star wars movie to come out.

  • Ahh, this was a great series/movie! This theme taskes me back....

  • The original pilot had some promise, & as a child I had some hope a series w/ the quality of the original Star Wars was possible. That didn't happen, it went down hill super fast. It got stupider w/ each episode. The robot dog really ruined it. I had some hope the new series would improve it, but it was even more muddle headed then the original product. I think the ScyFy channel has some totally clueless writers.

  • The Only Actor who could play the Part of the Rogue Battlestar Commander that the Entire Human Race had Thought Long Dead would be Robert Conrad.

The Colonial Battlestar Pegasus ( almost like the Submarine Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues under Captain Nemo......) had been thought Destroyed years before far from home along with it's Commander and Whole Fleet. Instead of allowing himself to be Killed and his Ship Destroyed. He Fled into Deep Space to Fight another Day. Legendary Actions they were...

  • I think this must be one of the biggest sounding themes for a TV show. I wonder how big the orchestra was that recorded this theme.

  • The only thing better about the original series compared to the new series.

  • 20 Cylons dislike this Theme.... well they can blow it out their basestars!

  • awesome

  • I like them both too for different reasons. However the first part of the new one confused me until I figured out Starbuck was a hot chick. Dirk aged well lol. Too well.

  • @JanuaryQuarles syfy.com

  • This theme song made a crap load of cameos in the re-imagined series, many of which were used on the wireless news networks. It was even played during the flyby during Galactica's retirement ceremony. Bear McCreary also managed to include elements of the theme into his compositions.

  • Is that Sonny Bono on the left?

  • /watch?v=rLCej27ot4w i like this much better.

  • The best Battlestar Galactica Theme ever !!!

  • Every time i hear this reminds me of Airplane II !

  • @dvddmc I just saw that the other day! I love Airplane II!

  • Casiopia was a Fox!!!!!

  • holy shit this sucks

  • @VonBrunswick

    no you suck

  • I thought that this series was more or less a Star Trek clone. The more recent one was an incredibly crafted drama, much more fun to watch.

  • @lcd186000 Nah it's more like Red Dawn in space.

  • New series was pure felgercarb!

  • 19 people like Starbuck as a woman.

  • Whenever I see the Galactica fill up the screen Im half expecting it to have a number plate on the back that says "We brake for nobody!" like in Spaceballs!

  • Is a micron a unit of distance or time? (in the film).

  • @stegatops micron was an officially acceptet term for micrometer (one millionth of a meter) during the time this series was made.

it isn't in use anymore, besides in superconductor-industry and astonomy (my profession).

so, to answer your question; it mesures distance :D

  • Frak, you goitta love that non-imitative counterpoint!!

  • I liked the new show. But why could they have not used this theme? It is 10 times better then the crying girl or the drums thing..

  • The One and Only Galactica Theme, the new Galactica theme sucks!

  • This version leaves out the 7-note (repeated) "preamble" to the main theme that was heard both on the tv-pilot and the theatrical version. It was played before and then after the main theme before the voice-over prologue (there are those who believe...) which had its own flute/strings theme.

  • @lonepantherkmt Too late! all those who gaze upon my mangina shall be turned to stone! ba ha ha!

  • @lonepantherkmt leave my mangina out of this! what did he/she ever do to you?

  • @lonepantherkmt whatever you say. but I wonder if you know the origin of that term? its not very nice.

  • @lonepantherkmt very classy

  • @lonepantherkmt ok then

  • The old theme one of the best ever! I love it! I was so dissapointed with the new BSG. If they ever make a movie I hope they use the original as the blueprint for it.

  • how the hell on earth could 17 people NOT LIKE THIS? You all must be dead is all i can come up with...very strange people. This classic theme goes much further out than EPIC, it's bigger than EPIC lol....stunning piece of music, full of life and positivity, and it doesn't half uplift your soul...AMAZING music...cheers for this :-D

  • @lonepantherkmt since i have friends who are homosexual, i actually don't have a problem with "fags". your attempt at insult is meaningless. you may as well call me "Black" or "Jewish" and expect me to be insulted. silly person.

  • @lonepantherkmt go blow a goat

  • I'm Commander Shepard, and this is the best Quarian theme music on the Citadel .

  • I loved this program. I soooo wish I was a kid again :-((((

  • i dont care what anybody says. both series are great pieces of science fiction. the original is fun, light hearted, family fun. just fun to watch and enjoy. the cheesiness and "crappiness" in design is part of its charm. the new one is dark, gritty, real. a totally different style but that doesnt make it "better" just different. both are equal in my view

  • @awestcody Couldn't agree more. I love em both.

  • @awestcody best comment on any battlestar galactica video on youtube. I wholehearteadly agree good sir!

  • @awestcody the new one is fracking better.

  • @awestcody You said it better than I could have ever said it. The idea that science fiction is all about exploring the darkest parts of humanity is completely ridiculous. I think we need to revisit the old science fiction shows like the original Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers to find out why they were so successful, compared to many of today's sci-fi television series.

  • @awestcody I disagree. The new one is insulting to what I grew up. Fine if you want to make a new show with crappy computer effects etc....etc.. but at least change the name and characters. Don't take something I grew up with and make it all dark and ugly, make a new show. I also can't stand the CG animation in these new shows and movies , to me it looks glossy and not solid.

  • @lonepantherkmt oh and if your gonna continue this pointless argument at least come up with a half way decent insult

because the half assed shit you have sent my way...my little brother who is in kinder garten could come up with better insults

at least come up with new ones mmkay?

  • @lonepantherkmt did...you just repeat the same shit again?

wow...i do belive i have found the worst troll on the planet

that short enough for ya lazy dumb ass?

  • @lonepantherkmt ...if you can't even spell a fucking word correctly...how the hell am i the moron?

now fuck off okay, i have more to do then to argue with trolls about nothing

if your going to keep this shit up at least spell out the whole word

or do you know how to spell the words?

  • @lonepantherkmt ...oh i get it your trolling aren't you?

trying to see if you can't piss me off and how long you can keep up a meaningless conversation...hehe o have had some good laughs that way

it's funny because theirs allways one person who will twist and turn the entire conversation off the map while the other gets pissed off

normally started over a mis understanding

i would play this game with you i truly would...but as it turns out the day of my brothers death is not ideal for trolls

  • @lonepantherkmt ...what the fuck are you talking about?

i am serious what exactly did i "discover" from my own self discovery here?

    i asked no question

and the only comment i made that remotly even suggested that i discovered anything was sarcasim

...so tell me what the fuck are you talking about?

  • make that 17 cyclons watched this video!!!

  • One word. EPIC!

  • My only complaint about the new series is that they only used this song 3 or 4 times in its entire running.

  • this cool

  • Great theme-so full of emotion, triumph and tragedy. Stu Phillips should have had a much more illustrious career as a composer.

  • wheres Colonel Tigh

  • @bandboy11111 in the cockpit of a viper, zoom in the picture :D

  • The old BSG theme is nice. But the new BSG as a story is better. More realistic. Sci-Fi used to be so cheesy.

  • @rvs55 thats the whole idea of it....they have taken bsg and made it into a overthought confusing piece of shit

  • @rvs55 Agreed but try telling to the rest of these nostalgic old fucks who can't accept that sometimes newer shit is better.

  • This song makes me wanna go into battle against a Cylon Basestar.

  • @megamanxv Go play BSG online, it's free, its browser based, and its not turn based.

  • Stand up for the Colonial anthem!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Damn it , Why did I discover BSG, and BSG 2004-09? Now I want to buy the Vipers and action figures!! :D Fortunately I have the complete DVD box set of BSG 2004-09

  • what about the robot dog, Digit, made up from an old shagpile rug and a atari ST,

  • The original theme song is so much better than the new version. The new version is whiny and bitchy sounding, whereas the original is full of victory and battle.

  • @Boogra The original theme was full of optimism, hope and grandeur. The new theme, as with the new series itself, was tailored for an audience of whiny, bitchy 20-somethings and was full of cynicism, depression and defeat. What a difference a couple of decades makes.

  • @DaveMail42 It's a show about nearly the entirety of humanity being literally annihilated by its own mistakes. Depression and defeat are kind of like, the whole point of the show.

  • @DivergentRunoff Whereas survival and hope were the whole point of the original. Different generation, different mindset. :)

  • @DaveMail42 Yeah because shows back then were so much better uh? Fag type clothes and cheesy lines yeah so much better. Old nostalgic fuck! No I am not knocking on this show, but it seems your generation did more damage than anyone else generation, now we have to fix your mistakes because you couldn't live up to the previous generation.

  • @evilfreddy2006 Well, if you want to fix my generation's mistakes (how was it you put it--"more damage than anyone else generation"--what is that?), you'll have to quit whining over some dead-and-gone, lame-ass remake show, move out of your mother's basement, get a job and go to WORK, junior! Young ignorant fuck.

  • @DaveMail42 @evilfreddy2006 STFU you aging hippie. Better get ready to take your ass to the retirement home lol.

  • @DaveMail42 perhaps the new series is not supposed to be happy go lucky

...but yeah i kinda agree with ya

but only to some degree...i know nothing is the original series worth watching?

i mean if it is too optimistic i may not like it...hehe yup i am a pesimist

  • @starwarsfan117 not really the original was really disappointing the original startreks are way way way better. and thats going far. the reimagined series is completely different from this uh hem "crap"

  • @starwarsfan117 The original series, by today's standards, is corny and simplistic. It wasn't Star Wars or even remotely epic, just good ol' escapist fun. It taught the virtues of hope and optimism, and of people working together under very adverse circumstances for the betterment of everyone. Worthy values, past or future. :)

  • @DaveMail42 ...i did not know shows taught values...hehe

  • @DaveMail42 Well then i guess the old show was designed for kids, because Humanity fighting in space against evil robots bent on their annihilation would not have much optimism, hope or grandeur. It would be desperate, frantic and inglorious.

    Anyway, both themes kick ass.

  • @DaveMail42 Speaking as a fan of both the Original and the Re-Imagined Battlestar Galactica here.

The depressing and defeated feel of the Re-Imagined series made the ending much more impacting. Humanity was brought to the brink, but pulled through the tragedy despite the odds against them. They took the fight back to the Cylons, and even though they were outnumbered and outgunned managed to cripple them as well. In spite of the set backs, there was a happy ending. Thats my opinion anyway.

  • @Smathalgoth While I don't totally agree with your viewpoint, I like the way you expressed it. Well said. :)

  • @Smathalgoth Humanity didn't pull through in the new BSG. They were totally defeated. The Cylons won.

  • @leestewart72 How did Humanity not pull through in the end? They found Earth and made it their new home, mission accomplished.

  • The survivors were marooned on an alien planet with no technology or supplies to speak of. How many of them died from exposure, disease, starvation, and attacks from wild animals and natives? All trace of their civilization was erased. The Cylons left in their baseships to spread out and colonize the entire galaxy.

  • @leestewart72 We saw the results of the colonist's choice to abandon their technology, it worked out. We will probably never know what the Centurions did, based on the level of intelligence they showed throughout the series they most likely crashed into something.

  • If you can call a 150,000 years to go from nothing to our society today working out. The fact that so much time went by shows that nothing of their knowledge or society remained. Basic agriculture didn't even begin until around 8-10 thousand years ago. They contributed nothing to our society.

  • @leestewart72 You are reading into it way too much, its the ending to a TV series not some important work of literature. I thought of it as a happy ending, Humanity lived on and the conflict with the Cylons was resolved. The fact the show even had an ending was great, the Original Series didn't have one at all.

  • Comment removed

  • @DaveMail42 I like both shows to be honest, grew up with the original series. And really got into the new series ....and I hear Bryan Singer is developing a big screen movie version.I'd pay to see that... with this theme on the soundtrack of course.

  • I see what you mean about negativity......the scene where the woman is diagnosed with breast cancer is a classic example of how far detached the new series was from the last........breast cancer on Battlestar Galactica? dear-o-dear! And Starbuck as a woman? Gimme a break! I actually felt better watching an episode of RPA! (real life surgery program). Some people have forgotten how to have fun....and thats the tragedy.

  • @DaveMail42 Ahh, you hit the nail on the head, my friend. The older series was made during a time of Romanticism. Today we have neo-realists and cynics who are part of the existential crowd of nihilists.

  • @DaveMail42

I'm pretty sure there was a balance of optimism and pessimism in that show

Though the new one did have Lost-itis

  • @DaveMail42

That´s true. But still. I like the new series a lot more because it was depressive and cynic and makes the original series look like the Adam West Batman series in comparison to Nolans Batman version. Don´t get me wrong I like both for what they are.

  • @DaveMail42

    >Whine about people being whiny on the internet

    >fail to see irony

    >get 26 thumbs

  • @DaveMail42

I assume you never really viewed the re-imagined series. If you saw how it ended, you might have had a different understanding. The re-imagined is technically more realistic, and terms like starsystem and quadrant aren't just thrown around. The show became famous far beyond bitchy 20-somethings. I am an original fan, and was in tears of joy at the end of the series, considering the revelation of Earth. You might try to watch the run, before dismissing 5 years of success.

  • @DaveMail42 OR, the new one was really good and you are being a whiny, bitchy, x-something who is full of cynicism.

  • @DaveMail42

    I absolutely agree.

  • @DaveMail42

Way to hit it squarely on the head. Well said, Dave.

  • knob head cylons!!!

  • The soundtrack sound strange I don't how it seems that this must be a mix.

  • It appears to me that all of the women from the original Battlestar Gallactica were more prettier and attractive than the new one. BTW, awesome theme to an outstanding TV show.

  • @TheLastOfTheFinest80 Attractiveness is subjective, not objective. What you see as attractive may not be to others, therefor the greater general attractivenesses of female actors from either series is indeterminable.

  • @NeVarajMe i apologize if i offended you, i was just trying start a conversation.

  • @TheLastOfTheFinest80

It's your taste and I don't denied it but I prefer the new cast, especially Katee Sackhoff.

The original theme is great but the dramatic new one seems fitting as the intro since it's the near extinction of humanity... the original theme fits the serie ending of finding earth (they did hint about it when the fleet was going into the sun)

  • Amen to that!

Didnt know there were women in the new one!

  • @stegatops Your comment pretty much sums up which show is actually better.

  • Yeah from left to right in the picture as the '78 orig. cast it's: Tony Swartz as Flight Sgt. Jolly, Herb Jefferson Jr. as Lt. Boomer, Anne Lockhart as Lt. Sheba (she was so cute!), Lorne Greene as Cmdr. Adama, Maren Jensen as Athena, Richard Hatch as Capt. Apollo, Laurette Spang as Cassiopeia, and last but certainly not least Dirk Benedict as Lt. Starbuck. Missing Terry Carter as Col. Tigh and the beautiful Jane Seymour as Serina, Sarah Rush as Flight Cpl. Rigel the "launch when ready" lady.

  • Im pretty sure the guy on the far right is Captain Apollo, funny enough he is the same guy that plays Tom Zarek in The Remake.

  • @Nod717, 3rd from the right. Far right is Starbuck (Dirk Benedict)

  • @ExcretumTaurum I believe you misspelled his name. the correct spelling is faceman

  • @freespeech4u2 point taken

  • This was great, the music superb and I have such great memories of the shows. I just can't seem to like the ney version, nothing compared to the original!!

  • What a nice theme! Maybe a bit "slow" in the middle, but surely the first and final part are worth! I think I'll watch the movie based on the original Galactica as soon as it comes out!
