  • Nice pickin, but cant compare to the mastery of the guitar of Tommy E.

  • geeeze, slow down and recapture the feeling! This is just a rote replay of the notes w/o the feeling :(

  • The cameraman thinks we want to see the right hand fingering, no, it's the left hand that guitar players want to see.

  • ohh baby he's not paying it..he's living in it....

  • His playing and the very tune is just perfect!!

    THANKS for posting!

  • lol "it's not just tommy that plays this song"

  • too fast....

  • Sounds better with steel strings, in my opinion.

  • @kdevine321

bro , he is using steel strings.

  • At least Tommy appears to be more gentle and polite. And of course he is much more versatile

  • Absolutley F-kin Brilliant!!

  • my god

  • Why do I prefer this version to tommys?fantastic.

  • sick

  • Thanks Steve-so nice-see you at Winfield!

  • For those of you who seem to think I am somehow saying something bad about TE at the beginning of this - you're all quite mistaken. Tommy and I have been friends for years and have played together many times and in many places over the years...

    sb

  • In my opinion ... Tommy's the only one who plays it as well as Tommy!

  • @fortenberyguitars Yeap but stephen has his own thing :) Tommy is just another level of awesomeness

  • It's not just tommy who plays this song????Is this guy jealous....Man u play amazing too but this tempo sucks...

  • sungha jung teacher just saynin....

  • Albert Einstein playin Windy And Warm! Cool ^^

  • 2 people where drunk when they watched this...

  • This song is pretty famous amongst Finger picking guitarists, and they all have their own version of the song, and there is 1000 of different tabs out there.. And most of the time they improvise the song, its quite easy and quite hard at the same time :)

  • Maybe my favourite version - along with the much missed Dadi.

  • I like how mixed the style is.

  • we used to do a slow/bluesy/rockabilly version of "16 tons" and I phrase "windy and warm" into the solobreak I put together, this is just a great song and I really like youre version

  • OH, He makes it sound better tahn Tommy Emmanuel!

  • I love that feeling.

    Alain.

  • Well he is good (not great) player, but I had to turn this off he butchered a classic, it had no feel and well, it was painful to listen to. Why would he do this? Go figure.

  • @newnoggin2 Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man. Stephen is a very talented player, and I feel he did a great job on this song.

  • great player but this is butchering of a classic, way to fast, sounds terrible, (no hate replies ta)

  • going to school.

  • Wow! First of all, you need balls to even consider doing your own version of something as well known as this one.

And then pulling it of like this, wow. Just Wow.

  • kewl :) its got that good ol, warm, jazzy, countryside kind of vibe to it. haha its my opinion only, so soeey for the improper grammer :P

    5/5 :D

  • 1:34 Super cool ! Great interpretation of the tune

  • i love tommy to pieces but anybody trying to belittle this one because he played it too is an idiot.

    just wow :-)

  • Great sounds a bit more bluesier and faster than the other versions great.

  • imo he plays it to fast, good played tho.

  • Il est 4H1/2 Heure Francaise et je finie sur un feu d'ARTIFICES BRAVOS

  • Wow. This just makes me want to give up guitar and pick it again at the same time.

  • Steve not only plays the music, he feels it. He is at the top of the heap when it comes to musicians in my book. Excellent as usual.

  • Morris makes an SB sig model, now that I search.

  • i want it soo bad

  • It sounds much better in person.

  • That is a Morris acoustic. Stephen plays Morris and Merrill guitars... That is his Morris, which I think was purchased from Winter Sound Co... think I played it before he bought it. The Merrills have about a six year waiting list. Steve is a really neat guy.

  • is it just me or can you not hear the bass notes?

  • I can hear them, though obviously without a thumbpick they aren't that defined. But it makes him sound a tad different, and I wouldn't call it bad. I know you didn't either.

  • It's not too fast, cuz he grooves the shit out of that song. Magnficent!

  • holy shit. is all i have to say. kudos

  • "Not a bad picker" is a bit of an understatement. "Way to fast" (sic) is actually only a bit faster, not breakneck speed. Scale back on the drugs" is the sort of comment I would expect from a typical teenager using this site but you are much older but seemingly not more mature.

  • True to the original and added some but not OTT. Great, very accessible, satisfying fingerpicking, just as it should be and how Stephen Bennett delivers every single time.

  • awesome job!

  • Very nice playing and a great version of Windy and Warm. great sound too.

  • Wow...that's some great playing on this tune! The notes sound perfect. What make guitar is that?

  • reminds me of Spanish gentlement by Andrew white

  • Cool, I agree with pusherman19, same kinda vibe, could have inspired Spanish Gentleman.

  • Look at that hitchhiker's thumb!!!

  • this guy plays with technical prowess, rhythmic drive, dynamic intensensity, and he's fun to watch....

  • Very nice version!!!!

  • to be honest they play it 2 different styles! this is more country where Tommy's has more of a bluesy vibe to it.

i personally like Tommy's version better but that doesnt mean he "beats" this guy, i dont understand why on so many of these comments people slag guitarists off and stuff, everyone has their different way and people have different tastes

  • I agree with Yix777. Each guitar player plays every single song differently. You will never have the same song played the same way twice...even by TE or Chet. It's just the nature of the obsession called music.

So, if you knock a guitar player for whatever he does or don't do, pick up a guitar and show us how it's done. If you can't, shut up. We didn't want to hear you anyway.

I think Mr Bennett does an amazing job. Very clean and very pronounced.

  • :) good job!

  • agreed, beest rendition of the song ive ever heard

  • he beats tommy hands down!

  • agreed - Tommy just doesn't know when to stop and let the song breathe!

  • Tommy plays it 100 times better! This version is too fast. TE lets the notes ring! He's the master!
