Why did they delete this?! I found it today and was so impressed, I was going to type out my blog entries that I've already done and put them in my own handwriting to put into a journal so my future generations could see what I wrote in my 21st century journal. I went to the site and it's shut down, and I am so upset!!!!!!
Thats cool and all......but my handwriting sucks. haha. But that is an excellent concept and application. I does add a more personal touch to any digital writing and the process to set it up seems pretty easy.
Wow, I just read where the site is no longer. Boo Woo. I think this is such a wonderful idea. Now, if anyone wants to sell the software. I would buy it! There must be away for us to get something like this.......Any one, ANY ONE!
This was the worst idea. They should've released it as software that creates an actual font, not required you to send people an e-card. No one likes those!
Cursive was only created to save time, and there is a reason we don´t use cursive on computers despite it having been possible for some time. Print letters are easy to read and you´re no slower typing them on your keyboard than you are writing with some fancy version of cursive. If someone wrote me an email with this program I´d delete it on the spot and tell the person I´d read it when I could have it in a readable form. Honestly this is one of the most useless programs I have ever seen.
would love to try it out, but the website tells me i've to download the latest version of adobe flash player, which i have already done so, any suggestions please?
I can't get the damn thing to send emails. every time I try it tells me the bloody font doesn't belong to me. I think pilot are just using the public to rip off new fonts.
Interesting concept; however, this doesn't work for people such as myself, whose letters will change form depending on the letter's place in a word. :/
@AquaLinux You and everyone else who's ever written. Among other things, I am rained in palaeography, and this is such an insult to the idea of handwriting I can't believe it. Also it seems as if the 'font' can only be used on a site owned by Pilot. that's just who I want reading my e-mails.
If you wanted to do what is depicted, why not write out the text, scan it, and embed it in the email?
This is a remarkably interesting video. I love the concept of bringing back personality to writing e-mails. The process doesn't seem incredibly difficult, though it'll certainly require some time initially to set up the system.
Interesting. The reason why so many medications are prescribed incorrectly and result in tragedy is because people can't understand the doctors' handwriting. So a person is supposed to go to all that work just to produce chicken scratch so their victims, I mean recipients, will have the pleasure of disciphering their handwriting? Sorry, totally unnecessary tech. They have handwritten fonts that are more legible and easier to use. Simply install & you have handwriting. Tada! Wonders never cease!
Not a fan. My writing would look very different this way. It doesn't account for the transition between lettering as you write. It seems to only take each letter on its own and shove them together.
Why would I want to waste my time doing this, just for another font? Waste of time. If your writing is so bland that somehow, handwriting makes it better, than that is sad and pathetic.
a little late pilot, this kind of technology has been out for a few years already, its been free, and instead of taking a low resolution picture (wtf??) you could actually scan it instead
You know... If you actually knew how to write then your identity would not be lost. I suppose incorporating voice into a person's writing has become all to difficult a task.
@justanotherfakeid No. Still the invention of the telephone did personalaise communications more than the letter did, I think. And for me Skype and its siblings make communication with my family overseas even more personal.
But you are right in that the mode of communication does not define who you are. It just gives you different modes for expresing that personality.

"Recovering the identity I've lost online"... or further offering up who i am to the online- increasingly public, easily accessed by "big brother"- world.
You do know that children are no longer being taught to write cursive? It's printing only. So handwriting is a lost art - it's going the way of the fountain pen: a luxury not many want to afford. Or the dodo - entirely extinct.
I'm not saying this is the worst ad ever - they do seem to have simplified the process for people - but this really isn't a new thing. Still nice I guess, what really bothers me is all this "using computers makes everything lose its personality/soul/identity"-talk. That's just empty talk people like to repeat because you sound so deep, retro-hip and "unique" if you jump on the "electronic is soulless"-bandwagon. Screw that noise - words are still words, even if they are easily readable nowadays.
How are you supposed to get sweet flowy handwriting like this if you have been typing since 3rd grade in the '90's? There is a catch in this twenty-two...

Hm, looks cool but, I'd like to be able to fill may template using a Wacom tablet. and would be nice if one could save their own handwriting for good, not just in the website... I still like the idea though :)
