45 or 40 gauge red devils?

I always playED 45-105 until now but I recently ordered some Half-Rounds from d'Addario in 40-100 to see what it's like...

So here the strings are 45-105 Red Devils

cool I used 45s exclusively for a long time but the tight tension is great for highs but once I discovered 40s there was no going back

Depuis je suis passé sur une JB de la marque SX trouvable sur Rondomusic (tape rondomusic dans google).

J'ai acheté la SX sur le net aux US pour 180€ ports et droits de douane compris et je ne joue presque plus ma Cort ^^

Ouaip j'ai pu voir l'engouement pour ces basses sur Slappyto, j'pense que j'en aurai déjà pris une si j'avais pas déjà une Squier :p

En tout cas j'ai pu voir le rendu avec celle de DavidSin ça envoie bien. Si t'en as une aussi j'attend donc un cover avec :D

What do you mean with "playing passive"? I never had heard of this in music therms before. ö

"playing passive" here means that I chose to use my bas in passive mode...that means that the integrated preamp wasn't activated...it gives a different sound ^^

So you mean that you're just using the bassound without any effects or am I wrong?

I might be wrong... preamp is the part of the amp that amplify the incoming signal... following this fact, it don't understand how you get the tone? The signal would be to weak.

Can you explain it to me? :s

Yes without any effects and especially (and this corresponds to the "passive" part) without the equalizer that's integrated in my bass' preamp

Excellent video. I really have enjoyed that sound. It does more sound like "red hot chili pepers" to me actually. :)

Just a little question: why have you choosen the bass as your (main) instrument? Who were the bassists that had impressed you then?

When I started to play the guitar, I didn't knew any guitarists... it was hard, but afther some (history) books I was able to find my way. :)

Thank you ! As I said before (was it in french ? ^^) I played the pass in passive mode here with a JJ configuration (the MM pickup is splitted).

My only influence at the beginning where the RHCP...then it began to grow wider : Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, The Doobie Brothers, Muse...

Ouais cette fois-ci je joue en passif avec une config équivalent à une JB.

J'mattendais à la réaction sur le humbucker...

Comme ça fait un gros buzz dés que je touche les plots (mauvaise prise de terre ici...en fait y en a pas ^^) j'ai mis du scotch rouge dessus...j'avais que ça sous la main...

Mais des plots rouges ça serait délire avec ma basse quand même ! :-)
