  • The video was made available on YouTube.[3][4] Hayes did finally return to Turkey on June 14, 2007 to attend the 2nd Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Global Security, organized by the Turkish National Police (TNP) and the Turkish Institute for Police Studies (TIPS), to amend the negative implications of his book. He held a press conference on June 15 and made an apology to the Turkish people.

  • Although the Interpol warrant for him had by then been set aside, he explained that while he wanted to return, he hesitated to do so out of concern that many Turks might blame him for the negative publicity the movie had generated.

  • During the 1999 Cannes Film Festival, Alinur Velidedeoğlu, a Turkish advertiser, met Billy Hayes by chance and interviewed him on the film Midnight Express. Hayes expressed his disappointment with parts of the film adaptation, especially its portrayal of all Turks as bad, and his regret that Turkey's image was negatively affected by the film. Hayes also displayed affection for Turkey and Istanbul.

  • Respect for Billy Hayes for genuinely expressing his thought about Turkey and their people. Shame on the director of the movie Midnight Express (Oliver Stone) - he put the image of Turkish people and Turkey in sacrifice for his own success. Propaganda to make prisons look bad is alright, but not if it is exaggerated to the point of becoming a misportrayal of and an insult to a nation and their people. And no, it's not right to rebel against a foreign nation in this way - it is more detrimental.

  • @EthemD Oliver Stone wrote the film but he didnt direct it. Alan Parker did. Good point though

  • I liked this film because of all the acting all other cinematic aspects but I have to say that the film really portrayed Turkey as some sort of hell zone which Im sure isn't true at all D: i'm not turkish but i really want to go to Turkey because I hear of all good things about the place. the film did well to portray a prison but I wish the filmmakers didn't give such Turkey such a undeserving image ): .

  • @ThinkFastBoom93 Oh believe me broter, Turkey in the late 70's was not a place to be happy and free. Trust me, I am Turkish and I know this as fact.

  • @BullnBearAnalytics i am greek and i have vizit marmaris on 2004, people were very friendly with me and my wife, and i believe turkey has change since that time i meen '70s something ...

  • For those ones who don't know Turkeys must got there ...it's the best and safest place on earth...

  • During that little crying spell at the end of the show locked up abroad he goes on about how it affected his father, and the pain he caused his family. Yet he left out ol' Patrick, remember ol' Patrick, the guy who died for you. He paid a big price too during your little escapades.

  • @afghi420 He talked about Patrick earlier in the show and how he regretted it... and you do know that they do something to shows called "editing", don't you? Editors arrange interviews and shows they way they want to when its put on the air... so you don't know if he talked more about his friend or not. People are always so quick to judge another person's reactions and what they say when they haven't even gone through them. Probably makes people feel better about themselves....

  • @KageShadows You are so smart, that is exactly why i do it. It makes me feel better about myself to talk about some dickhead who i saw once on the National Geographic channel. And i know he talked about Patrick earlier in the show, the guy died because of him so it was sort of an important part of the story. And im sure the editor just chose for some reason to edit out a few seconds of him saying something about his friend, if i killed my friend i would make the editor include it. thats just me

  • @afghi420 Funny. You sarcastically call me "smart" because I use common sense. Try to use your common sense too. The show was released by a pretty well known network. For one, people that are interviewed for these shows don't even see the editing work. They are not cameramen nor are they producers. They often do not even see the show in its entirety until it is released on the air. You don't know what they left in or took out. You sound ignorant. Stop talking out of your ass.

  • @afghi420 Why are you two retards arguing about what you speculate happened to footage that you don't even know was even filmed? It's like you think your imaginary bullshit is better than the other guy's imaginary bullshit.

  • @PutItAway101 And why are you joining in on the so called argument, that was over as far as i was concerned until you thought it necessary to keep it going. Your input as to why 2 people are arguing is very informative. Now go find some other old conversation to lay out your wisdom upon. Moron.

  • Another American law breaker overseas who thinks he should not pay the price. This man is a convicted drug smuggler.

  • @Jim2011Bo The answer is no. In court he talked about forgiveness, not fucking them.

  • Bill Hayes' ordeal was not fake, and his imprisonment happened during a less glorious time when Turkey was ruled by the deep state. However the "Midnight Express" film is an example of a Hollywood movie that drifts away from truth and portrayed Turkish people as beasts and monsters instead of humans, much like how Nazis portrayed Jews and how Americans portrayed the Japanese during WWII, and they over-dramaticized Hayes' experience so that the film would make more money at the box office.

  • 3:57 he means Edirne (Kapikule).

  • Im an English man living in Turkey and I tell you this, Turkey is a much better place than England. The Turks are very hospitable and really make you feel at home, shame I cant say the same about England, Dont believe what you watch on TV, The government wants you to be scared so u keep paying their taxes, come and see for yourself!!!!

  • @smith077906

Billy Hayes Turkey was a little different than the Turkey of today. You can't compare your modern experiences to what was going on in the upheaval of the 70's although, to be fair, the Turkish people, themselves, have always been lovely.

  • are the Turks really that sadistic? as in the movie.

  • @knightschwartz You make me laugh though:) Of course not, turkish people are very sweet and hospitable. What you watched is just a fiction. Visit and see with your own eyes.

  • fuck that..even in 2011, nobody wants to try a turkish prison.. Walking down the Taxim square in Istanbul, see all that bribed cops stoping you for no reason..Nothing changed..that society has to progress fast..where are the rights in democratic Turkey? I mean they vote AKP and Erdogan so..they deserved to be criticised..

  • @roubajat What about fu*k you!

  • @S0NOSMANLl Nice way to reply, very democratic too..Propably you voted for Erdogan, so I am sorry if i disturbed you. You should buy a dildo and stick it to your hairy AKP ass.

  • @roubajat You are a f**king idiot I have ever seen. This movie is a racist movie in the history. It is nothing to do with AKP party. You are f**king red neck. Go f**k yourself, if you do believe in this movie. Don’t you f**king see; even Billy Hayes saying that. What you f**king trying to prove here f**king racist!

  • @S0NOSMANLl If is it racist or not, it has been proven by how turkish goverment is treating to all minorities inside Turkey. And how many times the turkish army has taken over the country! I am not racist, I am just saying that your beloved country is fucking racist and hates foreigners in many ways.. You are so conservative..And a stupid Turkish MHP fuck..Fuck you, lick my hairy freedom ballls, turkish gaylord

  • @roubajat You are really fu*k up person and I dotn have time for you sh*t. Once again idiot, watch Billy Hayes confessions. Even he is saying the movie was set up. However, idiot and racist person like you wont understand that. Shall I say- wont want to understand? i dotn have time for your sh*t. Fu*k off.

  • @roubajat -- Sorry to differ but I rather live where I can bribe my way out rather than to live where everything goes except cash up front, where cops stop for civil asset forfeitures and gang stalk residents into fleeing so they can take their homes. Look up GANG STALKING and CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURES on YouTube. If I meet Billy Hayes, first thing I want to ask him is if he really had that outburst in court because if you do the same in American court, you'll get your sentence doubled.

  • fakkkee moviee who paid oliver stone for this movie maybe illum

  • I wish they make another movie based on TRUE events if I had a chance I would make another Midnight Express based on what actually happen, the story was great and the movie was nice

  • Billy, you're an inspiration, a real survivor, your book and story is amazing. The mental hospital you were in for a while too - because you thought you'd be able to escape from there, not becuase you were nuts(!) , all of that was so terrible. You are a tower of strength! What more can I say?

  • Billy words cannot exspress how happy i am you got out of that place into which i;ve seen your story 3 times.however i was wondering if you had a chance to go back to help your freind as u promise? The actor protrade u well & one thing for sure i'll never go to Turkey! your story really affected me however i got one worst than that, My god bless you, KC

  • @ko89101 another ignorant person who believe everything in the inaccurate midnight express. if you get caught smuggling drugs in a foreign country thats what happens so deal with it, i dont know why you guys are making him out to be a hero when he got caught red handed smuggling weed. even billy himself said the movie blew things out of proportion and made all turks look bad. if turkey was really that bad do you rekon more than 30 million ppl would go every year? and be rnaked 5th in touristrank

  • @CiMBoMTurkiye93 You're the one who's ignorant. Weed can't kill you and is not that dangerous (and is not physically addictive like tobacco; which is permitted in all Islamic governments), no matter what the stupid quaran/or the fascists of the Turkish government say. Turkey and many other Middle Eastern/Mediterranean/Islamic countries must rethink their retarted drug laws. PS, Turkey is just one "foreign country" other REAL democracies would have been much more lenient and simply deported him.

  • @thevoicoftruth1989 wow condoning drugs? boy you must be getting somehwere in life. i feel sorry for when (if) you have kids, knowing there dad wouldnt give 2 shits if they take drugs. lol and you have the audacity to call me ignorant i think that hashish has been getting to your head, should of told your mother not to smoke it when she was pregnant with you fool. u mad? yeah u definitley mad

  • @CiMBoMTurkiye93 Condone drugs? Not really, just suggesting stupid government pigs shouldn't give ridiculous sentences. To talk about my mother just goes to show how EVIL and mentally you and other Muslims are. Hashish/Pot was made illegal by the people of my government (the U.S.), and other AXIS IDOIOT countries said "hey, let's become more intense by making pot more illegal." Dip shit, Sharia loving deuce bag,I bet you're not even aloud to watch porn, masturbate, drink or have sex lol XD

  • haha, no my friend, it is you who are ignorant for not understanding that this was a joke. 'donkey as only mode of transport' seriously?? you didn't understand that i was joking??' I love Turkey, i have been and it's a beautuiful country, but you sir....are a moron!

You are really not very clever :)

  • I saw this on national geographic. locked up abroad

    what a story...

  • Watch the National Geographic show "Banged Up Abroad".It features Billy Hayes telling his true story about how LOT of things in the movie are SO inaccurate.I'm Turkish and some of the comments here are silly. You're talking about how people like me are horrible just because we are Turkish, yet all you do is hate in the comments.Do you guys know who payed for this movie by the way? People that don't like Turks cause of their "tail pain" cause we ruled most of the countries for more than 400yrs

  • @erszebet Silence you turkish imbecile! you country is a backward dustbowl, it has not progressed and is at least 50 years behind the rest of the world, for example you have a donkey in your back garden, this donkey is your only mode of transport, i am correct in this am i not??

  • @getfitdit no there'sn...oh hang on, dammit getfitfit, what you doing in my back garden :))

  • @getfitdit I can't believe how many illiterate and ignorant people like yourself live in this world. I don't know where you are getting your information on Turkey and Turks but you obviously are not getting the facts. First of all have you ever been to Turkey? Have you ever been treated badly by Turks? I doubt it. You need to do some research on the internet, talk to people who have been to Turkey and learn more about a country and it's people before you make ignorant comments.

  • @erszebet hahaha that sucks ur TURKISH!!! Man I would not be proud of that haha. What a shitty country

  • @jcrook023

what a shit country? Better than your fat peoples And Poor and Blackmens America !

  • @WEARETURK Oh I bet it is! hahahahaha

  • @jcrook023 You should read my comment to @getfitdit. It's suitable to you, too.

  • @frecklegizem13 naw too long and boring. Ill just watch Midnight Express and then form my opinon about Turkey hahahahahahahahahaha FAG

  • @jcrook023 Well if you want to keep being an ignorant and uneducated crap of a person then that's fine with me. Oh and your usage of the derogatory word fag shows just how close minded you are about other people and their beliefs and their life style. They say don't argue with an idiot and I won't. :)

  • @frecklegizem13 good call FAG hahahaha. Ur so wise!!!! Oh yeah and in America fag and gay can be used for slang, as in ur a gay fag! Doesnt actually mean ur a butt pirate. Just a complete douche bag. Ha Im the idiot...

  • @jcrook023 You know you really are funny. Just so you know I live in America and the word fag is an offensive word. I don't know what part of the US you live in but where I live you don't call people that word. Why don't you read a dictionary or something and find out that those words actually mean..let me help you with the word Gay-(cheerful, merry) you are a disgrace to the American nation and people like you make other people in the world think that all American's are idiots.

  • @frecklegizem13 haha really? Read the dictonary!? How old are u? U sound like one of my old haggard ass highschool teachers! "dont use that word, its offensive" ha. No shit gay means happy/cheerful. Thats why its called SLANG! people like u that take words literally piss everyone off bc u try and get alll defensive and act like ur mr fuckin Webster. How bout u go look up "tool", i bet u wont find the way im using it haha. Ima disgrace to the American nation.. ohh that one hurt! Peace gay boy.

  • @jcrook023Yes really. You just continue on assuming things that have nothing to do with reality. You are just pissed off because I'm obviously much more cleverer than you will ever be and dude seriously learn how to spell okay? English is my second language and I'm better at English than you are. Anyway have a nice life and by the way I'm a female.

  • @frecklegizem13 hah sorry I type fast and dont look back! and i just did look back at my last comment and NO mistakes haha dumb slut. Ur a WOMAN?!? Oh god no wonder this conversation is the most pointless one i've had on utube hahahahaha i bet ur a fat ugly bitch that no one likes. U must be SO clever sitting at ur computer complaining on utube about how ur ppl are misunderstood! I LOVE pissing ppl like u off... it's the american way!! GO SUCK A FAT ONE. Im done talking to ur fat turkish ass.

  • @jcrook023 Like I said you are so funny! It's hard to take you seriously and you just keep on assuming that I'm Turkish. None of the things you say about me bother me because you don't mean crap to me and you are the first person that I ever wrote a comment about because I couldn't stand your ignorance.

PS. You might want to check back and see how you spelled dictionary

  • @frecklegizem13 Wellllllll i obviously made u mad (since u keep replying to me) and that makes me happy. Thanks for letting me know i can lower anyone to my level :-)!!! JCROOK OUT!

  • @jcrook023 Right..Well I'm glad to have made you happy. And I'm also glad that you've accepted the fact that your level is way down below.

  • its funny how in the movie he walked out the front door, after killing the police man, and yet here he says he left from stealing a fishing boat

  • someone have to explain how he made it to the greek border, just google the map and see how FAR it is from the prison island Imrali (the real one)...where he escape from...

  • Did he die?

  • @faithless1905

...speaking of thanking goodness, he just tried to smuggle hashish and didn't (even have the chance to) participate in the beseiging of 3,500 km2 of sovereign foreign territory, its colonization of 100,000 outlanders, the persecution of approximately 200,000 inhabitants and the deaths of nearly 5,000 for the sake of "saving those Turkish-Cypriots". 'Cause he'd probably live in shame, thinking back to those days, much like every other being would. A civilized one, that is.

  • @faithless1905

....right, he never had time to spend on saving Kurds from turkish police forces or paramilitary groups.

  • @faithless1905 haha

  • so the movie was exsagerated? I wonder if Billy ever went back to Turkey?

  • Salut

Est ce qu'une âme charitable pourrait traduire l'interview en français merci .

Please traduct the interview in french, thx

  • usa usa usa fuck turkey

  • @MikeAppz11 USA Has the same Repressive Drug Laws As Turkey & the USA has imprisoned far far more people for Drug related crimes the Turkey will ever.

  • @Zer0Handle

    So true.

The movie is total scam and far way from the true story about Will Hayes.

MidnightExpress is just a film and it shows how the prisons might have been in the 70's in turkey.

But GUANTANAMO and ABU GHURAIB ARE REAL and they are real TODAY!

The Film VALLEY OF THE WOLVES IRAQ, showing the brutal crimes, massacres and torturings of the coward US Soldiers in Iraq, was censored in the USA and declared and anti-US-propganda. LMAO

Americans are naive, retarded and hypocrite.

  • to IboCino, wrong, i do disagree with american drug policy however, turkey does give much harder sentences then america, and "thc" aka marijuana and hashish, are almost legalized in some of our states, check your facts turkish bastard

  • if you smuggle drugs from USA, they put you in Guatemala Prison and you suck Big Bob's dick for couple years.

so Bill shut the fuck up, you deserved it you fucking low-life, you could've get a fucking job instead.

  • @vknyvz LOL. Big Bob's in the Guantanamo Prison, you uncooth

  • @vknyvz And at what point does Bill whine about being arrested? Oh, that's right, he doesn't! He actually admits first and foremost that smuggling hashish was a BAD idea! Maybe you were asleep. Judge yourself first, you pathetic socio.

  • The Turkish as portrayed by the movie are Animals,Dogs,Abusive,etc,etc,..

Later the Director apologize to the Turkey People but the reality is Foreign Prisons are Not Humane, and U.S. Prisons are Hyatt's compared to foreign prisons.I believe the Movie,it is what it is..

  • he totally shagged his mate in prison, movie made out he was all i love you but no homo, doubt it!

  • He learned turkish very well.In the Prison they have teached him very well ;D hahahah.BILLY HAYES didn´t forget turkish after 30 years.

  • He was smuggling HASH, it should be legal anyway!

  • @MetallicSisters What, not a drug dealer? Billy Hayes allready smuggled hash three times out of Turkey!! No surprise they catched him.

  • Awful lot of trolls on youtube.

  • u fuckking american support turkish barbarizm againts Kurd ,Armenian ,Socialists..turkis police get traned by cia, pentegan and nato bustarts...

  • @QEKI12 Speak fucking english asshole!!

  • @MrNoskire whats your problem? why dont you speak turkish ,kurdish ,armenian or any other languages?

my english is poor i am studing to that your "fucking asshole english" .

  • @QEKI12 You know why QEKI12? Because MrNoskire is so stupid, probably he only speaks English, at least the filty words!!

  • @RenzoMiller I don't need to speak another language my country is wealthy. hahahaha!

  • @QEKI12 Shut your mouth you brown turd.

  • @MrNoskire you are a fucking rasist bustart. We know that Australian women goes to thailand for brown turd thai men ..

  • @QEKI12 Hahahaha!! It's spelled "Racist" you fucking twat!

  • @MrNoskire also i am not speaking englis ,i am writting english .you belen..

  • Don't know if he really said "nation of pigs" in court. If he did, he was not punished for it. In the U.S. he could have gotten a life term only for saying that. He didn't encounter race gangs in prison looking to stab 3 white foreigners as he would have in the U.S. But most of all, he got a book and movie deal, something he would never have gotten had his experience been in the U.S. or they would have been gang stalked by the gov't. Look up GANG STALKING TV and MONARCH II (PT TWELVE) on YouTube

  • Free energy has been here for a while ,But the Big corporations spend millions to ensure that information does not spread to the masses,Find the real deal, a free energy device at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!

  • Malta the best country what i have seen. i felt like on my own country Armenia.

Maltease people are very friendly. Malta has so many church..

and what i like really that Maltease safed their own culter against dirty turkish and muslim..

    God Bless you Malta.

  • have a look at turkish history. they always press christian national arround them.

Greek,Armenian,Bulgurian. even now they continiune to do it. i have never seen so fucking hipocrity nation. now they want to enter EU.

can you imagine nation full of blood wish to live in democracy?

they will never have democracy in their own country, because inside them live a bigest slave. can you imagine maniac who killed a lot of people and washed his hands and telling now i inoccent? nation of pig

  • @dashnakk Surprise Surprise, ur armenian.. Seriously like cokeCph just said try moving your fat ass away from the computer screen and get laid... If thats even possible for at lowlife like you

  • turkish people why you so worry? when someone telling true about your nation?

its show that you turkish has to really hide dirty and blood history..

remember nobody can hide true forever, someday true will cover all turkish national.

thats wil be terrible day for turkish. than more you hide your history than more you become enemy to everyone who respect human right.

you really fucking nation. i can tell it direcly to your fucking goverment.

the most dirty and bloody nation.

  • he should be sent back to prison that bastard

  • Not to be mean but I like how the movie portrayed the Turks . the real Billy Hayes sucks. Making Turks look bad in the movie makes the movie more interesting if the Turks were friendly what the fuck would be exciting

  • When Oliver Stone made this film, due to Cold War which afforded some democracy at home may have looked Turkey somewhat harsh. Oliver Stone probably never imagined that before long you'll have -- and you can search these videos on YouTube under these key words - gang stalking, gang stalking TV, gang stalking survivor, cell phone stalking, Monarch II (pt twelve), freedom's bloody corpse, back scatter x-ray vans, etc. With 5% of the world population, the U.S. holds 25% of the world's prisoners.

  • what a story..

  • @dashnakk

Says the unibrowed armenian negro with gold teeth LOL Hey ungrateful armenian cunt, Turkey today hosts over a hundred thousand illegal armenian workers who fled armenia, the 4th world shithole to earn some money in Turkey. Don't you think you should be more grateful to Turks who feed your starving people?

  • @Cengiz78x what a load of crock, your ottoman ancestors raped innocent civilians, asking them to be or be killed by forced islamic conversion, forced death marches, which in turn, retaliated for survival from the armenian side, and 96 years later, your here on youtube propoganding these vile words ? come on.

  • @EKassabian yeah that's why all Greeks and Armenians are Turkish Muslims right?

  • Comment removed

  • thankfully they had already escaped from reaching that point my friend

  • @EKassabian you're funny, the British and French colonies were changed in a matter of years... you have no right to say such a thing

  • @TheAbsoluTurk lol, hooray, you finally got it. why ask a certain question if you know the answer to it ? if it wasn't for them, bye bye greeks and armenians in the whole caucausus.

  • @EKassabian no way. there's no such mindset for Turks, now or then

  • @TheAbsoluTurk i know what you mean. i wouldn't say it is the mindset of turks now, definitely not, but at that time...its a completely different story. I am convinced that there aren’t bad nations, but bad individuals. Nationalism is a horrible trait in my opinion.

  • @EKassabian I can agree with you on that. But the Turks never had a policy to exterminate or convert anyone If they did, you'd be right; no Greeks or Armenians. But they just made them pay money which is why the rebelled. And now they have their own countries so they earned the right to govern themselves

  • @TheAbsoluTurk Ah, that is up to you to research. The evidence is in the books, the historians, and testimonies of the witnesses, and I'm not talking about Greeks or Armenians, I'm talking about the Balkans in the late Ottoman period. Yes they rebelled, and rightfully so, who is to say why that culture should not get it's self determination. Sadly half a million died to "earn the right to govern themselves". Shame half of their historical land didn't follow them as well.

  • @EKassabian yeah they went on to kill each other after. Nationalism is a killer

  • @dashnakk why so mad??? Go out and get laid.. and smoke weed. Relax dude.

Life is too short to be a bitter man like you.

  • This guy was a daft kid smuggling hash, but a hero for giving 2 fingers to authority and escaping from it Lol!

  • What is common between Armenians and Greeks? Both Greeks and Armenians were enslaved and ruled by Ottoman Turks in the past, hence their hatred towards Turks. Almost all actors playing the Turks in Midnight Express are greasy Armenians and Greeks speaking broken Turkish. A lame and failed attempt to throw mud at Turkey :) Today, Turkey still ranks 7th on the list of most visited countries in the world. Try harder niggas(greeks and armenians) hehe

  • @Cengiz78x Your so wrong. Actors were all MALTESE. haha EPIC FAIL

  • @hitmankanadiz13

Fucken retarded north african maltese nigga speaking arabic.....

    Do 'Kevork Malikyan(armenian)', Giannis Papadopoulos(greek),

Mihalis Giannatos(greek) etc. sound like maltese names to you imbecile?

  • @Cengiz78x Just shows what an imbecile YOU are! and please don't try to insult me about my language... Unlike the Greeks, us Maltese defeated you filth in the 1565 Great Siege!! haha :) How embarresing eh? A small number of Knights and Maltese were able to bring a so called SuperPower to its knees. Kiss my ass you prick.

  • @hitmankanadiz13

we raped you maltese niggas several times throughout history, you were always insignificant cockroaches just as you are today. Google Battle of Preveza for instance, Heavily outnumbered Ottoman Navy raped you enslaving thousands of you. You were officially owned in your previous post, that must be the reason of your anger LOL why don't you ask your sister to kiss your ass instead as you usually do maltese african scum ? LOL

  • @Cengiz78x Who are you referring to Knights or Maltese? Loser. Its funny how desperate and unorganised the Ottamans were. After Dragut had a small accident *LOL* Ottamans were clueless! What cracks me up is that you faggots were outnumbering us 8 to 1 and you still had your ass kicked in. The crumbling fortress of St.Elmo was guarded by not more then 300 Knights and Maltese together and before it fell we killed more then 15,000 filth. *BIGGER LOL*

  • @Cengiz78x Shitty country. No wonder you scum are envious of us. Apart from joining the EU, we contributed by making a bad name for your country (Midnight Express) haha :0) LOL!

Fly away on your carpet Ahmet! xD You don't know shit!

  • @hitmankanadiz13

You are a north african nigga speaking arabic, so you are naturally inferior to me. What is malta for god's sake? An exotic touristic destination with some niggas and gypsies, a Turk would envy a maltese as much as he envies a cockroach feeding on shit LOL Sorry my african slave but your contributions didnt help anything because Turkey still ranks 7th on the list of most visited countries in the world. So cry me a river african whore :) and never forget battle of PREVEZA bitch

  • @Cengiz78x 7th most visited country in the world yet still dreaming of entering the EU? LOL! Something is surely fucked up with your country.... hmmmm... I wonder what..... xD

  • @hitmankanadiz13

My african slave, Turkish people simply do not give a flying fuck about entering a collapsing union (the results of latest surveys show that 80% of Turkish people are against Turkey's EU membership) like EU. EU is fucked and in deep shit, greece went bankrupt and portugal, spain and italy will follow greece. It's just the current Turkish government's policy to appear pro-EU to weaken the army in Turkey and african slaves with an IQ of 75(you) think that Turkey cares about EU

  • @hitmankanadiz13

Actually, I always have a sympathy for mediterranean states of EU and their citizens , such as Italy, Spain, Portugal and even Greece (because they are human beings and friendly unlike the pigs from north). I hope pigs from the north go bankrupt instead of the mediterraneans from the south because Turkey's real enemy is north europeans not the mediterraneans.

  • Comment removed

  • @hitmankanadiz13

It's just the current Turkish government's policy to appear pro-EU to weaken the armed forces in Turkey because the current government is neo-Islamist and neo-Ottomanist with a pseudo-secular mask. On the other hand, Turkish Armed Forces has been upholding secularism since the foundation of Turkish Republic in 1923.

  • @hitmankanadiz13

I do not give a shit about EU policy, EU or common EU opinion or anything related to EU just like majority of the Turks. We just do not want to enter a dying and collapsing union which is going bankrupt slowly but steadily. UK is a part of EU on paper only LOL if you think that anglo-saxons would help you on your demand, you are just a hallucinating hothead. USA and UK are butt buddies. British do not even use Euro as their currency

  • @hitmankanadiz13

Mark my words....Turkey will NEVER enter EU. So do not worry

  • @Cengiz78x - they are joining eu soon.

  • @Cengiz78x dont know why you bring up the greeks and armenians. there not even mentioned in the movie and don't need to be mentioned.

  • TDTKB thank you for this document !!!

  • Fuck it. In spite of everything, Hayes is a personal hero. Does he have a YT account? Got the book somewhere, but haven't read it in ages. Google Earth me to the exact point in Imrali, he escaped from. Turkiye Bayuk! BTW my Mum's from Malta, my sister in law half Kriti Lol!

  • Marijuana hash..hardly a drug, i mean alcohol and tobacco are 10 times worse for both the individual and the society (in the case of alcohol). It's not as if he was dealing heroin or opiates or cocaine or whatever.

Haven't seen the movie, and probably won't be. I hate this kind of "dramatisation" of events, it is sterile and honestly humped-up. The turkish people have a mix of nice and horrible people just the same like every other country. And I'm a Greek saying that.

  • I am very glad I watched this video after the movie, now I have a much better understanding what really happened...

  • @djmopa Ha! Yeah, he didnt really kill the screw and then just walk out of the door like he did in the film, And he only spent two weeks in Bakirkoy (section 13) and that was 6 months into his sentance, they sent him there to see if he was mad but soon let him out. In 1975 he was moved to the Imrali island prison, where you were allowed to walk on the beach and it was easy goin compared to Sagmalicar prison, one night he hid in a tomatoe bin and pinched a fishing boat and rowed back to turkey.

  • @MOONST0MP Yeah, as a 28 year old, he still saw the reduced sentence as a bad thing. Three years to go was still 36 months to his young mind. He fretted ( as i do these days) about his parents getting older. His bravery facing those waves on that rowing boat in the middle of the night is commendable. He passed over a minefield without realising it till the Greek intelligence officer pointed it out to him Lol!

  • @Noodles37UK yeah man, I fuckin love that book, I must've read it 100 times in the past, read 'The Damage Done' By Warren Fellows if you get the chance mate, it makes Midnight Express look like a fairy tale.

  • real son of a bitch!!!

  • Tarik Akan (turkish actor) and Yilmaz Guney (turkish actor, filmaker) were also tortured during imprisonment. They were imprisoned for political reasons.

  • i had same story and situation in Istanbul

  • @jaf829 Tell us about it...how did you get away?

  • I know this guy has a lot of regrets about what he did because he lost of his friend and his mother and father had a few sleepless nights worrying about him. In my opinion, he has a really great story to tell. I only saw the Nat Geo version not the film written by Oliver Stone. I think he said it was written by Oliver Stone. i am sure if I am wrong someone on you tube will correct me.

  • @samh09 Oliver Stone wrote the Script for the movie as a script writer, some changes were made from the original book, including how he escaped, he did not killed the guard, he had already been killed a while back by another immate, and he had consensual sex with other immates and was not raped, I think he raped 1 or 2 turkish boys

  • I don't think Billy watched the same movie I did. The Turks in Midnight Express were not all "bad"; the judge was clearly sympathetic to the Hayes character but said "my hands are tied" when he gave him his final sentence. His Turkish lawyer worked to get him off with a lighter sentence; if anything, his greediness was a reflection the public's perception of lawyers, not Turks. Most of the guards aren't shown to be any more cruel than getting a laugh at the expense of the silly/crazy American.

  • I dont understand the sympathy he is getting. he was a criminal. a drug dealing bastard. whatever happened he deserved it. 4 years.

the americans that criticise us give harder sentences then we turks do.

  • @IboCino Yes you are right. They want to give sympathy as they want Turkey to been seen as ruthless corrupt governement for arresting the guy for breaking the laws of their country. You do the crime, you pay the price for the laws you break in that country...simple. Now he is seen as a hero. He is a criminal and murdered. Should be in for life! Such a liar that he is, wonder where he gets it from.

  • @IboCino A lot of people was thinking the same about guys who drunk in 1920's. Remember that . For me it is important, not for you? Have a nice day. (Sorry for my bad english. I am french canadian.)

    René (mr)

  • @IboCino He was not a drug dealer, just a regular consumer ! he spent a great deal to pay the bail but they kept on making him wait, they even prolonged the sentence to MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF TURKISH fucking legal system. In America, it's more plausible, the public has the right to intervene.

  • @MetallicSisters shuush you making too much noise

  • @IboCino shut the fuck up!!!poor man he was so young...you fucken dumbass...

  • The things the guy went through to gain his freedom is amazing! Little dude had balls of steel!

  • One of the greatest stories ever..

  • @ConditionRedDawn

Which was based only on lies

  • @theVirus7

Guantanamo bay comes to mind? Fucking hypocrisy.

  • @ArdaTuranNr66 You can not compare....those terrorists on GITMO deserve to be there and worst!

  • @jmora0567

Those terrorists? Mate, there isn't even enough proof if any of those who are in guantanamo bay is really terrorists, sure some of them who are terrorists should rot in there but those who was taken away and is innocent? So yes, I can fucking compare.

  • @ArdaTuranNr66 There are no innocent terrorits, period! if they were taken away it was for a reason, the CIA and the rest of the intelligence community such as the MOZAD gather enough intelligence to ensure that no innocent people are taken away from their freedom, only true terrorists, and ALL at GITMO are terrorists and deserve to be hunged without trial, they don't and should not be granted the same rights as US citizens. I think you might be a terrorist from Turkey, I can tell!

  • @jmora0567

I might be a terrorist? LOL, I said those who are terrorists should rot in there did I say none of them are terrorist? Calling me a terrorist pretty much says alot of how you look at people who are terrorist and people who are normal citizens.

Even the american news have wrote about innocent people being held in guantanmo bay it's not me who are claiming these things.

  • @ArdaTuranNr66 Ok, send me your pic and I'll tell you if you look like terrorist or not, as far as the media reports, the liberal media likes to make things up, that is one of the great things about living in free democracy, you can criticize the government without fear of persecussion, even if it comes from liberals who have these conspiracy theories
