The European COUNTRY of Sweden has 173,000 or so square miles with a population of 9 million. do you happen to see an issue with population density there? There is no need for a police force the size of NYC when your population density is around 53 heads per square mile.
NYC has a population density of almost 28,000 (yea that's Twenty-eight THOUSAND) people per square mile. If all of NYPD was working at the same time that is only 1 officer per 231 people. I beg to differ with your view that more police = more crime. But I will partially agree with your "wild west" statement. More guns in the hands of law abiding citizens has statistically lowered violent crime, not by their use of said force but by the mere knowledge of everyone being able to carry.
Here in Minneapolis our gun laws are NOWHERE near as restrictive as NYC's we have permits to purchase handguns, and permits to carry... No registration, no owner licensing. This difference in law means that those who wish to carry lawfully can do so affordably. Violent crime statistics have proven the Minnesota gun laws to be effective. I've said it a million times, gun control laws only hurt the law abiding citizen. Finally I come to your statement about NYPD not assisting you....
Remember if ALL of NYPD was working at the same time they're still outnumbered 231 to 1. For number crunching's sake we'll say half are actually on at any given time. That's one officer for every 444 people. Or 40 officer's per square mile. Half of the half working are administrative officers meaning they fly a desk all day. so in turn you have realistically 1 beat cop for every 888 people or 20 per square mile if they were spread completely even.

For the year 2010 there were 845,040 reported incidents in all of london's boroughs. Thats 1 crime every 36 seconds for an entire year. Since I don't have complete statistics for NYC we'll just focus on violent/sexual crimes. London had 122,468 violent crimes reported in 2010 which is 1 violent crime every 4 mins
By comparison NYC had 38,481 violent crimes reported in 2010 or one violent crime every 15 minutes. Sure murders are higher in NYC vs. London, this is due to the fact that guns are FAR harder to come by in London, as well as poverty levels. Seems to me that by the numbers provided by both agencies London has a significantly higher violent crime rate. Did I mention that London has about 200 more square miles and about a half a million less people than NYC?
How am I wrong about Sweden? I have no idea how many police officers work in the country of Sweden nor did I state that I did. However, I did get my hands on crime statistics for rape and homicide in the country of Sweden and imagine that! the rape and sexual assault stats are HIGHER than London AND NYC, the murders are lower however than both cities. I cannot read Japaneese so I unfortunately cannot comment on crime statistics for the city of Tokyo.

NYC has a population density of almost 28,000 (yea that's Twenty-eight THOUSAND) people per square mile. If all of NYPD was working at the same time that is only 1 officer per 231 people. I beg to differ with your view that more police = more crime. But I will partially agree with your "wild west" statement. More guns in the hands of law abiding citizens has statistically lowered violent crime, not by their use of said force but by the mere knowledge of everyone being able to carry.

Here in Minneapolis our gun laws are NOWHERE near as restrictive as NYC's we have permits to purchase handguns, and permits to carry... No registration, no owner licensing. This difference in law means that those who wish to carry lawfully can do so affordably. Violent crime statistics have proven the Minnesota gun laws to be effective. I've said it a million times, gun control laws only hurt the law abiding citizen. Finally I come to your statement about NYPD not assisting you....

Remember if ALL of NYPD was working at the same time they're still outnumbered 231 to 1. For number crunching's sake we'll say half are actually on at any given time. That's one officer for every 444 people. Or 40 officer's per square mile. Half of the half working are administrative officers meaning they fly a desk all day. so in turn you have realistically 1 beat cop for every 888 people or 20 per square mile if they were spread completely even.

By comparison NYC had 38,481 violent crimes reported in 2010 or one violent crime every 15 minutes. Sure murders are higher in NYC vs. London, this is due to the fact that guns are FAR harder to come by in London, as well as poverty levels. Seems to me that by the numbers provided by both agencies London has a significantly higher violent crime rate. Did I mention that London has about 200 more square miles and about a half a million less people than NYC?

However, I did get my hands on crime statistics for rape and homicide in the country of Sweden and imagine that! the rape and sexual assault stats are HIGHER than London AND NYC, the murders are lower however than both cities. Second NYC vehicles are exempt from parkin regulation as long as they dont "cause danger situation in their positions. Third the RMPs parked diagnolly are legally parked diagnally because the city ordinance on parking only states parking must be parell. because citizens are not allowed by law to park on the streets by police stations that rule does NOT apply
