Bal-sagoth definitely has some noticeable power metal elements. And with that, it's the only band with power metal elements I like :) It's all about the energy, atmosphere, and solid songs. And some of their songs are simply one brilliant riff/ melody / break after another. btw part from 3:05 on in this song is awesome while being so simple that I wonder how no one has made it before ^^

I listen to black metal(Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem) and still like old Cradle of Filth. They sold out somewhere in 1999, but their older stuff has the right feeling to it(except for Dani's screeches). Try "Summer dying fast"(old version) or "Darkly Erotic" and say those songs are mainstream.

Its an 'underground' type of black metal, generally things that only come out as 1000 CD's or so, and recorded in a hut in the forest. It usually involves low production also.

A band that springs to mind specifically (although is more melodical BM) is arthemesia, these guys fit the stereotype quite specfically imo.

As for general KVLTists, they believe because they listen to music such as 'Burzum' 'Mayhem' 'Darkthrone' pretty much the bands he described.
