1.) Download the VSTPlugin of your choice.

2.) Open My Computer

3.) Find C:/ drive

4.) Click Program Files

5.) Scroll Down and find VSTPlugins and open folder

6.) Extract the zip file to the same folder directory...or drag and drop into the VSTPlugin folder the .dll (dynamic link library...extension file)

7.) Click on Ableton Live 8.x.x

8.) Click on the little plugin

9.) Click activate

12.) Do this for hours everyday. (4-6 if possible)

13.) *Repeat steps 11 and 12 for at least 2 months before posting your own song. on youtube. (Test on friends firsts) *Friends not included with instructions.

15.) Make sure you leave with who you intended to leave with... or end up in a truck on your way to the nearest border ditch near you.

anyone who cant find "drum rack": if you see drum rack but its only in folder form, its because you are using live lite. Upgrading will unlock drum racks. do the 30 day trial if you want to try it out.

@entreeeway You don't remember where you dragged the Impulse from? It's right in the Instruments folder. On the top left where it says TAP, under that is a little play button and under that is a folder. That should bring you to the main folders from Ableton, and in the instruments folder is the Drum Rack.

You seem ridiculously misguided on production, no offense.

First of all, you dont want to sound like anyone else. There's too many people trying to copy skrillex's sound. Only zomboy actually managed to do it with a degree of success. He's one in about a million other would be 'producers'.

FL is perfectly capable of making heavy, distorted basslines. Skrillex started out with FL...

I'm a complete stereotypical fanboy on popular dubstep, so of course when i try and start produceing, I immediately think "I'LL SOUND JUST LIKE SKRILLEX!!!"

And on the FL, I've already seen so many stuff made on FL that says it can handle a brutal drop, as well as so many producers call out FL, like Dubba Johnny. I'll try messing around with it.

If anyone else is having the problem with the drum rack, i found what your problem was, if you go to your impulse track and click the rotating arrows next to the save button on your track list and click that, and scroll up to the top of the library and there's a seperate drum rack, THAT should go on your tracks

This is how I got the TAL baseline to work: Go into library and make a folder named "Audio". In audio make a folder named "Plug-ins". In Plug-ins make a folder named "VST". Then go to preferences in Live and go to file folder then click on browse and find the "VST" folder you made and set that as the custom folder. Then just hit rescan and you ahould have it.
