I went to see this as a kid in 1977. I remember feeling pure patriotism after seeing the opening scene with the Union Jack parachute, the British Lotus Esprit S1 scenes and the "Just keeping the British end up" comment made at the end in Roger Moore's intrinsic accent. What ever happened to Great Britain?

What happened? We simply let the US in... that's it. When the Wimpies started to vanish and leave their place to McDonald's, that was the very beginning... the very same time when all the rest simply fucked up: Roger Moore quit Bond, Sean Connery did his last one, Billy Idol pretended he was American, all our best rock bands escaped British taxes (do Yes or Supertramp remind you of sthg? :-)), and so on... alas.
