  • Ah the Funky Meters!! I noticed ya'll seem to cover all the obscure music i thot i was the only one who knew about.

  • This is fucking boss.

  • Just think how good these kids are going to be when they start using drugs.

  • This deserves a thumbs up I think

  • White boys representin'!

  • very nice. but the drummer should learn it properly. this tune is played with both hands on hi-hat. check out stanton moore's groove alchemy.

  • Filthy.

  • awesome! my trio are thinking of covering this song also :)

  • This is great. All the best from Bonzai Tribe

  • Hey guys very good!!!!!!!!!!! The Meters rules!

  • Mean as brothers! Love how you really started ripping once you got warmed up ... Keep it up!

  • well done im impressed!

    that was some nice playing.

  • My comment to the drummer, lay back man! This groove is supposed to be calm and chill, think swampy. At the moment your playing is impressive and you have great dynamic control and chops, but your rushing is something you need to work on. I see this video is over three years old so I'm assuming you've fixed this by now, but if not, get on it.

  • guitar player needs to loose the rest of the guys and get a solid rhythm section..

  • bravissimi !!!!!!

  • DAMN, yall got some style. good song selections

  • Wow! Meters are one of my all-time favorites and this is the best cover I have heard of Cissy Strut. John Mayer's polished piece of shit doesn't come close to 3 young white boys. Yeah, your drummer speeds and slows a little but you guys have got feel. Nice. How about 'Here Comes the Meter Man' next?

  • thats what covering songs songs is all about, making it your own. or else your just goin through the motions

  • Goddamn! That was the shit! Watch your tempo, though!

  • should revise the drumming its slightly wrong....

  • LEGAL, MAS BEM QUE O GUITARRISTA PODIA TER SEGURADO O LADO BRANQUELO, TERIAM TERMINADO MELHOR SEM A "MASTURBAÇÃO" NO SOLO.

  • So McLovin's... Onward gentlemen.

  • How old are these cats?

  • great over, but where did u guys hear McLovins from? Superbad? hahahaha

  • damn nice job

  • Absolutely great great great cover... magical. You have the talent to have been up there with the big boys of the time despite your preciousness.

Keep it going and I hope you can take the groove to another level and bypass the current boredom in the musical scene of today :)

  • real dope shit ! MUCH LOVE FROM NEW ORLEANS !

  • cool playin, love it :D

  • That's badass!

  • Keeping the NOLA funk alive for another generation! ill version of a classic.

  • kick butt!!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • this is amazing playing from everyone. And considering your age - this is epic. Ground sound quality too. Im a great fan of John Mayer cos he has brought blues back to life, and is a good song writer, but I still do think he's over rated as a technical guitarist. Can I ask what your using for overdrive? A tubescreamer? And whats your amp?

  • @andyfooty444 John Mayer is Amazing and you know it

he deserves to be over rated for all hes done for blues

  • @andyfooty444 I hope you don't think this is a john mayer song...

    btw, awsome playing!

  • you lose the groove at the bridge but overall not bad. drummer has timing problem though

  • Funky drumming man.

  • john mayer sucks, you guys rock!McLovins ftw!!haaaaiiiiiya!

  • this is really good you guys are awsome

  • hey man you guys are awsome especially on bass and guitar check out my band at 404 on youtube

  • hey man you guys are awsome especially on bass and guitar

  • theres nothing worse than a group of white guys trying to play the meters...

  • @LiLVeSt23 your an asshole. these guys destroy the meters and anyother band

  • Good, but the drummer is a bit too far ahead of the beat and rushes. It sped up TOO much. If the drummer could lay back and try to swing it more, it would sit much nicer. Good stuff though. If you listen to the start and then jump from the start to 2.40/45 or whatever, it has just sped up way too much. A little give in tempo is ok, but plainly speeding up that much kind of just kills it. Also, check out some second line New Orleans for the march bit. It's too straight...like a real march.

  • jeeze. when i saw this, i thought it was gonna suck! nice job gentlemen... keep jammin!

  • You guys got it down, to the bone, respect !!!

  • no cooler song to jam to! Love how you threw your own flavour in. Watchin' use I was like, "Get the Funk out of here!"

  • what the funk is going on???!!!!

  • drummer is fucking good

  • Hell yeah! I like the funky march beat at the end.

  • the drummer looks like hes on speed

  • (h5) understand the meaning of groove! keep grooving

  • you guys are sweet...but everyone has to check out guitarist on left at 239,440 that face is hilarious!!

  • i think the bassman loves chris wood. im right?

  • This is sexy

  • love the looks and the band name XD haha, McLovins...

nice track and good job, was good to listen to.

but the bass must get more finky, more badass !

    thumns up

  • Nice - keep listening to bands like the Meters!

  • y'all some fonky white boys

  • I can dig it guys!

  • Wow!!! Unbelievable, what a great sound! Much better than all the other cover versions here on youtube! Great funky drum work with just the right accentuation and a great vintage sound too, much better than the drumming on John Scofield's and John Mayer's versions. The drumming on the other covers is not funky and does not sound good to my ears. I also like the excellent guitar playing with that Jimi Hendrix vibe in parts! Too bad that the bass is a little bit too quiet. Anyway, awesome stuff!!

  • By far the best cover on youtube. Couldn't find much else that compares.

  • Nice playing dudes, love the drumming.

  • great track

    the best part...

you guys are just lovin it :D

(as someone already helpfully pointed out, if theres any constructive criticism needed here its to just make sure you lock yourselves into that groove and throw away the key, then you will never fail)

    btw nice steel drum

  • Nice tone man! may I ask about your setup?

  • not your best, rushed things a bit, but maybe that was planned

  • you guys are pretty remarkable, and it's made even greater by the fact that someone hipped all y'all to cool music like the this.

  • john mayer is a baby back bitch.

  • @Gradey3 how

  • Once again keyboard player would have made this 10000000000000000 times better. Find one guys, i promise you will benefit.

  • holy crap , diddnt expect this to be so good really fucking enjoyed it.

lol even looks like we have the same guitars man.

if you would be so kind as to write the tabs for the first 2 chords after "AAAH YA" i cant find decent tabs enywhere ! or you can thell me the chords but then i have to look em up online : ) Great job from all of you , you rock

  • wow bad ass ~ very nice very nice

  • good job. Remember to lock onto the groove and squeeze it's neck tight.

  • funky stuff boys! :-D good work :-)

  • Three adolescent lilly-white boys playing the Meters, and doing it pretty damned well.

Drummer loses groove when soloing begins but what the hell--he gets back on it with a vengeance. You guys are smoking good for your age.

  • guys! ur amazing ;)

  • got the right idea, gotta keep that pulse though man. drums gotta be rock solid. all in all im impressed with you guys, yall look like youre 12 haha. keep it up youll make it places.

  • the drummer has the beat all wrong

  • excellent. i was playing crappy faux punk rock when i was your age. this is real music that requires some talent to pull of. i dig it!

  • Absolutely fantastic boys! i have just joined a trio with a hammond player and he does this so i was looking for what to do, you rock, i've been playing 30 years and i'm going to use this to make a point of how to do it, well done.

  • Great job, keep practicing.

  • ps: nice guitar riff but in a New orleans funky song i would expect a more funky solo and less rock.

    but nice anyway!

  • that's groovy!!!!

  • Very Nice Guys. Wow. My younger brother is in a band called Funkteenth $t. Where do you guys play out off? State?

  • Holy crap, that was amazing. Great quality recording too, and I really like the fills and improv on the guitar and bass

  • The haters be damned ! Nice job fellas...it's great to see young people that appreciate good music , let alone play it .

  • You guys are talented, but most important, you play with heart and soul. I can hear and see you loooove the music you play, that already makes you halfway there. The fact that all three of you play your instrument so well, makes you all the way there.

  • Very Frusciante-esque lick at the beginning

  • Dude, it's the effing Meters...Neville Bros. precursors...nothing to do with the Peppers.

  • @mikesome13

Oh shit, my bad. I meant beginning of the solo. Typo

  • *of the solo

  • hehe guys respect rly gj keep going

  • Nice job guys...

  • I don't tend to comment much, as a lot of ppl tend to someone find something negative to say...but I enjoyed your cover of one of my fav songs by The Meters. Keep it tight...and funky!

  • I was pleasantly surprised! Keep it up. Yous are all great musicians.

  • oh...but DON'T fingertap on this, man....Please :)

  • you kids are pretty TIGHT, man. keep hittin.

  • the meters are pure funk

  • A very good job guys.Check out some ISLEY BROTHERS. Keep playing!!!!!!!!!!

  • Keep Funkin Bros! - I was into Janes Addiction and Red Hots at your age, and they are great bands, but as a drummer I wish I had listened to and played a bit more of this music sooner.

  • wasn't a fan of the key change

  • gooooood.job

  • one of the best strat tones ever!

  • sweet tone, check my version... please and let me know.

  • i really enjoyed very much. especially the guitarist is very talented although his young age. he has great tone both clean and overdriven. especially overdriven :) very cool.

    congratulations.

  • Interesting. Some tremendous talent here. But...the time signature is all over the place.

So let's be real. For a band in some room in a house = 5 Stars. After that, the rating quickly drops down into the 3's = Worth Watching.

  • John Mayer doesn't even come close to the Meters... you're all fools..

  • @blightlv youre a fucking faggot ass bitch. john mayer is better than themeters and you suck big greasy black dick all day you cocksucking pussy. i hope all of your grass dies and you have a shitty looking yard. cunt bitch. and i hope your dog dies.

  • @GuilfordWeGoHard right.. thats why he covered their song.............. I bet you wear your sister pants

  • @GuilfordWeGoHard what the fuck!!!!!john mayer can die in a giant hole!

  • @GuilfordWeGoHard waste of time! what are you 13? john mayer... not even in the same class. every one here knows your a fool.

  • @whofelix i know im right u dont have to tell me.. and yes i am indeed 17

  • @GuilfordWeGoHard - hahahahahahaahah ! JOHN MAYER??? yeah sure he's talented....... but bra, u must be like 13 and a 1/2. ur comment just shows your lack of knowledge on everything musical !

  • @blightlv its not about who's better. its about their interpretation on the song. just appreciate it!!

  • hot damn!! great job guys

  • A+ for effort!

  • Efffin dope!!!!! I loooove it!!!!!1

  • This cover is really great

  • NICE one!!!!!!

  • this is great guys!! check out our cover too when you get a chance at our page

  • This sounds great. Keep it up, you guys are tight.

  • really good vibe lads - I think you`ve got it!!

  • puts john mayers cover to shame...

  • thank you! some stupid fuck on that video was tryin to say Mayer does it the best. JMayer has NO tone

  • You are obviously tonedeaf.

  • yeah seriously

    these guys >>>>>>>>>> mayer

  • I don't know how I feel about this.

  • be happy for them. i'm personally filled with hope when i see kids this age working on a pocket like this. They COULD be playing Fallout Boy.

  • @somebodyjones2 I nearly read that wrong at first. Thank god i read over it. I agree 100%, its great to hear such a skilled cover of such a quality song.

  • Good job!!

  • muito a "fudê", parabéns

  • Damn actually impressed keep doing what you do, this is fantastic.

  • DAAAYUM!!!....yall hot....

  • Huhu, ! Very nice ! Its groovy <3

  • KEEP. ON. PRACTICING. (not a criticism) You guys are freaking awesome already. You've got "it." So all you need now is to put in tons of practice time to tighten things up and you will go places. I'm rooting for you.

Make sure you play as many gigs as you possibly can, wherever and whenever you can. This is your chance to do something that most people only dream of doing. :)

Your original tunes will be the most important ones you play. Keep writing! Your originals so far are killer.

  • God... you should all attend the same university. Wear a bunch of funky hats and don't give off the impression like you take yourselves too seriously and you will get laid like Wilt Chamberlain. Rock on my friends.

  • this is good advice

  • @kchastain3 Never a truer statement was ever made. :)

  • you guys are quite good, dont lose it

  • Awesome guys! Ya'll remind me of me and my friends at that age... except that you guys, er, have much more talent and, um, a much better taste in music. Thanks for all the posts!

  • Nice recording!

  • haha love song and the fact that you also covered the ayy-ya in the beginning! great job.

  • nicee

  • Rad. that drummer is pretty dope. all i suggest is practicing with a metronome.

tottall rad though. and less wiggly widdly from the guitar

  • just some advise lads, stick with the groove, leave out the tappin and hammer on's..groove is all about feel not speed.. i really enjoyed the begining of this vid you play well together.

  • Very Nice!! I'm looking forward to seeing you guys play in the future. Y'all will be very bad ass when you get out of HS!!

  • you guys should try some hendrix, and just improv it! sweet cover

  • 1,000,000 times better than the john mayer cover

  • hell no, but its relly good

  • You all look very young. Where did you guys pick up this song?

Interesting playing and 'twist' on the song!!

    Keep the great work!!

  • classic jam bros. keep dropping the beats. they are RAD

  • Sweeeeeet!

  • That's not to say the drummer isn't fantastic too. I include the drummer under the term 'players'.

  • I had to come back to see this again. Tight as fuck! You really are great players.

  • You guys are amazing.

  • good shit!! I think the phrase "was totally not expecting that" comes to mind. keep it up guys

  • wow you guys are just amazing i found you guys and was looking at your other vids and as soon as i saw the funky meters i was like hell yeah these guys just blow my mind!

  • This is infuriatingly good.

  • well said...for a moment I thought I was looking at musical "lip synching." These guys are BAD!

  • Haha. Funky shit!

  • great stuff !!

  • was doubting.... i was wrong.... nice work.... meters would be proud.. nice bass work.. polish keeping the tempo but otherwise right in that pocket,,,,,

  • Tight as hell. Keep up the good work

  • You guy's fucking rock. I loved it.

  • gonna play this song with my "band" live next monday :) This cover was great! keep it up!

  • funky drumming

  • Comment removed

  • they smoke the shitty version i used to play

  • this is so incredibly sick! these guys are gonna be huge. word.

  • Wonderful song choice, guys. It was fun to listen to. I especially like how tastefully, and true to the original version, the drummer played for most of the song. One suggestion for all 3 of you: check how the tempo skyrockets at about 1:40. I know you were changing it into more of a rock thing at that point, but I think you're talented enough to do that without losing the original groove and tempo.

  • i heard you're in middle school?? how long have you been playing guitar, because that's incredible impressive?

  • that a geddy lee bass? I'm getting it within a few days

  • nice job, keep at it

  • i can't wait to see you guys writing some of your own stuff!

  • me and my band always play this as like a warm up great song oh btw how old are u im 13 and the guitar player the bassist is 13 and drummer 14 :)

  • SICKSICKSICKSICK. pretty sweet you guys not going to lie. Dude, on guitar your pretty amazing. I love this. Everyone seems to be pretty fantastic at your instruments

  • FUNK

  • in my opinion the meters drummer is one of the best drummers for drum beats and he makes simple beats sound complicated. your drummer needs get the beat down better and then uv got it spot on

  • real tight guys. keep it up.

  • Awesome, and I hate to use this word.
