  • You know, these Red Shells are not really beta Shells?

    Because if you remember, those spikey guys that the lakitu guy throw's at you at the Rainbow ride level. Those Spikey guys have That exact red shell.

  • @antoni012345 Nemu64 emulator is the answer for making codes. Toad's Tool 64 is the answer for making hacks.

  • lol, The main function data is the combined preferences of the butterfly (Follows Mario) and the amp (Circles around) and you made the collision explosive. How you made L to fire them to the nearest animated objects, I have no idea.

  • The Shells were made by the Lakuti Shells. Frauber Removd the spiked and made them explode

  • Can you make this into a code with the fire mario hack too? Please make a download with the regular mario levels and stuff but make it so on Game A: you have nothing, Game B: You only get Red Shells, Game C: You only get Fire Mario, and Game D: You get both, Fire Mario and Red Shells. Please do this! I really want to play with that stuff!!!

  • You should make A first person Shooter out of SM64! insted of the thing at the bottom saying "WAIT" it should say "RELOADING", and dosent have the littet Mario head. Mario is invisible, has no shadow and the camra is zoomed in close so it will look like first person veiw. Mario shoots the litlle black balls the comes out of most butterflys and hunts down enimes (like in video). it has 3 shots then reloads. just a idea...

    I love all your hacks and... tools like the sm64 level importer.

    but I think it would be cool if the shells would change the appearence after shooting (eg. dust behind the shells, or faster turning shell or something)

    (after all your hacks and level importer (and the fact that in your vids are custom levels shown) can you tell me which is (in your opinion) the best way to create an custom level? (something better than Toads Tools?))

  • And very proud you SHOULD be. Nice hack. The chasing effect in particular was well played. I'm... intrigued by the fact that they just phase through the Chain Chomp, though. Also, what'd you program them to do to bosses? Or Koopa the Quick?

  • The problem with Chain Chomp is that my collision detection function only works well with small objects, due to the way models are drawn.

    The shells chase any animated object, be it a simple enemy, a boss or even butterflies. However it would be interesting to make the shell only take 1 hit out of the bosses, or even better, create a new boss behavior based on this new Mario ability (such as the last Bowser fight in my "Missing Stars" hack, in which you use Fire Mario).

  • ... Ooh, hey, it would be HIGHLY interesting to have a boss have this ability so that it could fire back. Making it into a platforming shellshooting battle... How would that work?

  • He, I actually have an idea for a boss using a modified version of this ability, however lack of time and the sheer complexity of it has prevented me from working on it.

  • If its possible do you think you can make a super mushroom powerup? It would be nice to see that in Mario 64. Maybe you can use a recolored 1 mushroom for its graphics. By the way I'm subscribing you.

    Heh, maybe you can add green shells that just bounce around. Porting Mario Kart items to Mario 64, I would never have thought of that...

  • Awesome hack, its amazing what all you can do in this game. Just a few down sides tho, you should make it so that it doesn't follow all targets, like the trees. And if you wanted it to be completely like Mario Kart 64, you should make it have smoke behind it. But still, its amazing that you were able to do this. Great job :)

  • It doesn't follow trees, only animated objects.

    Sometimes there a few bugs and the shells get confused about which object to follow. This will be partly solved when I add a timer, so that if the shell doesn't hit anything it will explode by itself.

    The smoke is a good idea I might look in the future.

  • You can clearly spawn objects; spawning a flat object with the smoke texture shouldn't be too hard, right?

  • Actually, you might be able to hijack the bob omb's smoke spewing behavior or something. I have no idea. It seems like what you want though.

  • With more tweaks, yes, however this is just an experiment.

    This is intended to be used on a future hack, it doesn't make much sense in the original game.

  • I was going to suggest making them work more like thrown boxes which kill enemies when sliding, but then I realized boxes only break when collide with a wall, unless there's a way to make them break on collision with an animated object, there would be the possibility of too many objects in one level.

    But it's great that you managed to add a homing attack to them.
