  • I like closed-loop theory best because it seems to provide the best answer to why no one went back in time and killed Hitler. If you killed Hitler, it would turn out that you are the one who lead the third Reich in WWII.

  • The only real time travel is the predestination paradox method. Alternate reality time travel isn't really time travel if you think about it, you're just creating the new universes and you're not really changing anything. The present/future that you left still happened and exists in an alternate reality now.

  • time slowing = matter slowing = lowered temperature.... EVERYONE JUMP IN UR FREEZER SO YOU LIVE LONGER!!!! DO IT!!!!

  • It always annoys me how the time cops don't let you change history because that would be Bad. Especially the part about not being able to prevent World War II. Apparently the death of 40 million people is a small price to pay for timeline stability.

I like the closed timeline best. Because it's the most mind-blowing.

  • Right...time travel is pretty damn weird

I was trying to find out how it might possibly work, but all that happened was that I got more and more confused

  • @Accisma see: quantum mechanics

We are living in a simultaneously occurring pattern of particles vibrating at varying density and frequency in all conceivable possibilities.

  • dam im confused.......

  • you really have to consider multiple realities when dealing with time travel

imo, each respective system will self contain whatever change you create by existing there

  • TO MY DAUGHTER OF THE FUTURE, come back and see me , 2010, or anytime after that?

  • @loftpigeon : How come so sure it's gonna be a daughter?

  • I think we could go back in time. If we did, we would have to build another time machine to go back to the future. hehe. Altering the past is pointless if you can simply travel to another universe where things are what you want them to be.

  • But if you could timetravel. Why havent anybody from the future visited us?

  • Timecops of course.

  • You can only travel from timemachine to timemachine, and now there's no timemachine so they can't come here

  • Maybe they have. If they managed to alter history, we would never know.

  • I'm actually surprised there are less than 100 comments.

  • well to my unborn daughter in the future, if your reading this? come back and see me. hahaha

  • informational and funny.

  • this was a good video

  • Time is like a fast moving river. Only an strong force or event can effect the direction of Universal Time. Every form of life & event effects the flow of time.

That mean you couldn't go back in time to kill Hitlers. Because to travel through that current, you would have to have an equal level of Energy to fight the events that led to the creation of Hitler an that resulting time stream.

It would have to equal the energy produced by a Supernova. Man has no such ability to due that!

  • say my unborn daughter from the future came back to our time now, shes 38, i dont know her, lets say i fancy her,i dont know who she is ? that wud be weird.

  • She would know that you're her dad but you don't know she's your daughter...

    :o ...

  • no no no. if i went back in time and tried to stop Lincoln from getting killed i would inevitably fail. because if the time-line's are connected then that event would have already taken place and cuz Lincoln is indeed assassinated it shows that i had already gone back and failed.

  • Time travel is possible but the past and future can not be changed. So if you go back in time to kill Bill gates you would either fail or kill the wrong person. You can't meet your past self and future self unless the past self forgets meeting his future self. You can't kill your grandfather in the past if he is alive in the future. If time travel is discovered it will be kept a secret. If the public knew then a whole bunch of people will die to get access to the time machine.

  • Which sounds like more bullshit than WMDs

  • Think about it if a time machine were to exist then somebody will kill, threaten, or do anything to get access to a time machine. A time machine is way more valuable then drugs and money.

  • with a time machine, i could get both. :P

  • first of all they'd have to believe time machines would and could exist. Not everyone believes in the possibilty. And although I would probably want one, I would not kill for one. As far as everyone else, they would and should take the accountabiliy that they'd FAIL in getting the time machine by killing someone and go to jail... without even laying a finger on the machine.

  • That makes sense which would explain why the past can't be changed in the first place since they failed to get to the past in the first place.

  • Pokefan9000, you forgot something. If people in this time ever discovered someone from the future, then we would get the technology sooner. Which would then change the history of the future. Meaning that the original "time traveler" never came here in the first place, which would put us in a "temporal loop" if you will. So maybe people from the future are here, and we just don't know it. Think about that. :)

  • time travel is impossible and never will happen because if we in the future invented it then how come we don't see any time travelers now?why dont the government and scientitst make amessage to the future to say COME BECK TO 2009 APRILL and so on!?

  • you left out "invisible time" this is the time where you go back and there is nothing there to change.

Example..the movie ...The Langoliers by Steven King. People don't exist a moment ago..they have moved on. Time winds down and starts erasing the past, while the future is being born.

  • Cute - time travel for (almost) dummies

You still have to understand the words "temporal" and "alternate".

  • if you think words like "temporal" and "alternate" are were you draw the "dummie line" you mite be giving yourself to much credit.

  • It's simple corwindarsky - if you don't know what the words themselves mean, how can you assume to understand a theory that can only be described with these words?

one hurdle at a time :)

  • Time travel is a very interesting subject. If you were to travel through time, though, you would ultimately create an infinite vacuum in space-time. The reason is the law of conservation of mass: matter can be neither created nor destroyed. By leaving the time in space that you were in, you "destroyed" your matter which would create a vacuum from where you were, sucking everything into it.

  • I for one do thing time travel exists and that it has even happened or almost happened. I read alot of books on the subject and I've read some pretty intriguing stuff. It interests me alot.

  • "A lot" is 2 words. Read more.

  • Part 4

However, if time travel was possible, which I don't think it is, then the laws of the universe would be different so I suppose it could be any one of those theories you mention. Wow, that was long.

  • Part 3

Like the "branching" theory, you can go back and stop yourself from killing your grandfather, making everything in your time closer to how you left it in the first place. However, because of the butterfly affect, you may not be able to get it back to the way it was. The reason I like this theory is because it does not involve some made up self correcting force like the time police or whatever created the solid gold potato thing.

  • Part 2

In this now changed future, your family will not be there, and your grandmother may have married someone else. The theory pretty much has the same implications as the branching theory but the version of reality you came from is replaced; the alternate reality and the one you came from do not both exist, you are the only remnant of the original reality.

  • Part 1

My hypothetical theory is a cross between the "branching" theory and the linear theory. Time is linear but when you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you don't suddenly disappear, or that wierd slowly fading away thing from back to the future. If you go back to your own time frame, you will find it has changed into one where you haven't been born, and you are there because you came from the future that had existed where you were born.

  • gill bates haha

  • I have never understand how does time travel work and why many people talk about it if it is impossible.

  • you cannot know if its possible or not. we have ideas which seem correct, but cannot be pulled out with our level of technology. like using wormholes, we cant travel to them

  • i went to philly and didnt have a cheese steak :(

  • Gill Bates :D LOL

  • So if you use a time machine to go to the future, would you be able to see your future self?

The immediate answer is of course, no, since you will have disappeared from your own time and for all those years -but- what if after you visit yourself in the future you go back to the past? then you will be there to grow up to be future you. Oo

  • the difference between your "immediate" and "-but-" answers is the difference between a linear and circular perspective of time. time travel in either direction changes your perspective from linear to circular. so the "immediate" answer is moot concerting you would need to time travel to find the answer.

  • it's generally fucked up^^

  • hippie time?

  • lol "godfather III wins oscar" nice

  • I don't see why the Time Police idea gets a D+. It was pretty cool in Asimov's "The End Of Eternity," I thought.

  • yay time cops

  • hippie time ftw!

  • Finally I can fill my favorites with videos that are actually good.

  • Branching timelines is one that makes the most sense ,how did that get a B ?

  • because the existence of an infinite number of universes or time lines take away your free will and people like to think they have control over there life.

  • What does free will have to do with anything?

  • Very nice Lore. Good to see you back.

  • Absolutely awesome

  • hooray!! bout time :D

  • How about this, if i would go back in time. And then attack my self, for exampel when i was 15 years old. Then if i was that 15 year old ide see my future self. like. i see my self walking down a street. few years laater i go back in time and then go down that street but forget that i saw my self. Movies forget this Theorie.

  • what about this, what if in the future everyone could go back in time, wouldnt we be seeing people from the future now?

  • if time travel was a "natural" event liek you some how got sucked into a worm hole then i suppose not that many people would experience that and tell others and there would be no way to replicate the event.. but if time travel is done by machine you would only be able to go as far into the past as to when the machine was first invented.

  • some external event would be required to make you forget for this to be possible. like amnesia from sort of trauma. like if the future you attacked present you and that injury caused you to forget the attack in the first place. other wise you would experience the attack from both perspectives eventually. you wouldn't "just forget"

  • very intresting !
