  • i live in atherstone, i did enjoyed watch this :) thank you

  • what time of year did you do this, i did it the third week of july and had several queues

  • It was Tuesday 26th September 2006 and I seem to remember we were in the top lock by 9:00 am. I don't recall too many waits but do remember that Away4Awhile's NB Katie was pissed off that we were in front of him.

  • when i went on holiday on the grand union canal the instructor lied to us because when we were going through the first lock (leighton lock) he said it would be the heaviest lock we would come across but some of the locks after that were even heavier.

  • I wouldn't know about such things as heavy locks. As you will notice in the video I have slaves to do these things for me.

  • I was walk by canals in Atherstone such lovely town and nice place i hope to visit again some day . Greating from Poland

  • And greetings from the USofA. Thanks for watching and keep visiting the English canals

  • Liked the idea of using compressed sound on these, does add to the atmosphere. Not sure what the comments about banging the boat, you are descending so maybe we need to see you going back up to see the eddy's bang you some more.

I see you're a lock lurker - doesn't exit until the other boat has left there's and on their way (I've always wondered if its some form of reverse chicken to see who's last to leave!)

  • Actually, we have walkie talkies, so we coordinate with the boat coming at us to decide who should do what! However, we do prefer to stay behind!

  • I worked very long and hard on the background sounds on this one and they are not all as compressed as you might think, but they seemed to add a bit of reality so I am grateful for the comment. We honestly have no idea what Urchin is going on about with gate twatting and leaving open. As you rightly remark opening the paddles causes eddy's and moves the boat. Watch out for that on the Hatton Flight they are vicious. I LOVE TERM LOCK LUCHER YOU MAY JUST HAVE GIVEN US A NEW BOAT NAME!

  • Evening Ur! I feel we know each other well enough for me to call you Ur. You can call me Mepp -or you may choose to call me any number of names! The camera is on the bow. Therefore, you can't see that there is either a blue person or a red person left behind to close the lock. I'm the red person, by the way. Honest! We closed the gates. You can trust me - I work for the government.

    Love,

    Mepp

  • yah! i remember this! i was in the blue!

  • You do make me laugh, lets hope it all gets repaired , or we are all stuck.O well i gress they'll be less there then.We will all be on Canaltime in time if it costs anymore to moore, etc.Ive emailed it to everyone i know and ones doing a talk on it, Can people see whats wrong yet??Made us laugh! At least your count will go up, i like to be helpfull.Thanks.

  • The tears are running down my legs as I read!

  • I throught id have another look to see if i was wrong,4 locks left open before a crusier comes by, then 2 locks more untill the narrowboat comes by,but yes after that a narrowboat comes along,But as your hubby says yes he has tw**ted them. Its good that others can see how not to do it now.Thanks.

  • URCHIN I LOVE YOU! How could you fail to notice that I hit the iceberg between locks 1 & 2? Or caused the Lusitania to sink between locks 5 & 6? It wern't me wot nucked the Belgrano but I admit it wus me n Kenneth Moore wot twatted the Bismark n then drained t'River Plate to bugger the Graf Spee. An it were me leavin the gates open wot caused Robert (Fat Bob) Maxwell's demise to the benefit of pensioners everywhere. Hey Ho it's all a loada bollox innit?

  • Please remember Urchin that in time lapse, the smallest "tap" of a boat on the front gates appears to be a big "thud." I'm one of the two people opening and CLOSING all of the gates. Like my husband says, the only time gates were left open was when another boat was approaching!!! We've been boating for years - we know what we are doing and are very careful about opening and closing gates especially now, as we agree with you about the prospect of locks not getting fixed due to the cutbacks!

  • It would be darn hard work following this guy,not how it used to be at all, sadly.Save Water Please!.We all need it nows theres no backing!

  • Edward John Smith, Captain of the Titanic, was born at Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent in January 1850 so he must have know about a thing or two about the cut, but he didn't turn out to be much of a driver did he? How am I supposed to save water? Bath with a friend or drag 67 foot of narrowboat down the towing path?

  • Dont close gates and Bangs them,Must be canaltime?

Or a bad boater.Apart from that love the video!

  • Thank you madam you have made my day. I've been accused of many things in my time BUT A CANALTIMER? I've been rammed by a couple of those buggers and forced onto the towing path by professionals like nb Katie of AWAY4AWHILE, the fastest narrowboat on the cut. OK I twatted a couple of gates, nobody's perfect, but pon my word m'dear the only gates left open were for oncoming boats.

BUT ME? A CANALTIMER? I would rather have a pineapple inserted violently up my rectum.

  • though i still live in the area, I realy enjoyed watching this.

  • Great. You had a good day for locking down. Thanks for sharing your video. I have really good memories of this flight of locks.
