Just have to put my 2 cents in. If you take how much you would pay for the WAY over priced Porsche and put it into a Cobra the Cobra would be pretty much untouchable. Plus the sound of the V8 in the Cobra over powers the Porsche no doubt

That cobra was an asshole. Once the cayman passed the 'vette he had several opportunities to pass the cobra on the inside of the corners. And the cobra jammed the cayman back behind him. very bad racing etiquette.

This is funny, my G35 coupe 6MT would have taken the Cobra long ago, hell, if I were driving the Cayman, the Cobra would have had to be recorded in the rear view, the cayman driver is obviously a very bug amateur and is scared to drive his car. I have tore up multiple Mustang GT's and Cobras off the line in my G35 coupe, the turns would of done nothing but helped out my cause, I have driven the Mustangs, handling is not their best quality, heck, it is not a quality at all in one.

I sure hope this was green or blue group, because everyone was using some pretty odd lines. I love running with PCA! They are a great bunch of gear heads! In 07 I was running in intermediate with a stock suspension 04 Cobra(Cobra R brakes and a little extra power) and had 5 Cayman S cars in my group. I could only catch 3 of them! They are God awful fast. In the beginning it is common for "slow" cars to be faster than "fast" cars. It's all driver in the beginning..

to jet79637: yes, eaten alive. The Cobra is a "corner clog". If one has ever turned a wheel on a race course (other than a drag strip) it would be obvious. The Cayman and driver clearly could lap more quickly than the Cobra and driver.

I agree...but if the Cobra's suspension is stock it will be horrible. if u run a search for the 05 GT mustang with the griggs GR40 suspension set up, you'll see that most cars can be good. it's all about what your target goals are for the car.

And to those who are wondering why he didnt pass him sooner, this is an HPDE (high performance driving event for our less educated people).....not a RACE. you cant pass when you want. 2003 Mustang Cobra SVT (Video) has McPherson Strut in the Front and Multilink in the rear with adjustable dampers Just stock they suck but it wouldn't be hard to tune kinda like Silvia's and considering the (997) Porsche 911 uses the same suspension set up

"Eating him alive" may be a bit to far, since he clearly leaves you in the straights. hey now hey now, I used to have an 03 350Z, took it to new hampshire international for track day and ate up everyone there, s2000, vette, wrx, lancer, BMW M3, etc. Only car I couldn't pass was a stock Honda Fit, sounds stupid, but the driver hit every corner PERFECT, no one touched him. My point being: the driver has a LOT to do with it. Most of you guys talk like you never tracked a car. I upgraded to a Boxster S; can't wait to track it SOON. Exhaust flames say aftermarket mods.

At the drivers edge event a point by is required before you are allowed to pass.

Pretty simple rule. "If there was no car behind you and now there is... Guess what. He is faster than you. So point him by."

I have yet to see a Mustang on a road course that can hang with ANY Porsche, even a 30 year old 914. I like Mustangs, I used to have one. They are great in a straight line.

Yeah I must have made up that Sportscar championship in 2005 then. PS the base GT500 has been thoroughly tested at VIR (grand course) and is as fast over 10 laps as a 997 Turbo.
