A restricted area where they cannot enter unless in line and the store opens. Making sure people are not cutting in the line. I agree no wonder the stampedes at walmart kill people!

I think Best Buy has figured out the formula to a safe Black Friday. At ours, people start lining up on Wednesday evening before! They bring tents and coolers. Then only 20 people are allowed into the store at a time, in the order they arrived and got in line. Our area is very small and so is our Best Buy. It's the closest one through several towns, so we get a LOT of traffic.
