The shields earlier were capable of holding back the fire of a NSV (or DShK, I am not entirely sure), which is 12.7mm--roughly comprable to the U.S .50 Caliber bullet.

Considering though that these guys have such things as Walking Tanks and Powered Armor, super-durable Shields do not seem so hard to believe.
