to bad they had to shut this festival down! i woulda liked to go, but didn't find out about till it was too late! how is it Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears can sell out stadiums and things like this - with REAL, GREAT QUALITY MUSIC - are forced to fold up from shear neglec?!! i'll never understand America when it comes to music.
Hey gamb0056 - I'm not calling Charlie Parr a failure - I love his music, buy every one of his CDs before they come out - that info is satire and is taken from his very own myspace page - I imagine those are his words - not mine.
@heidikellner - Charlie obviously loves what he is doing. You don't play that style of music if your goal is to be a rich and famous pop star. (Trust me, I know.) He plays and writes well and doesn't treat Country Blues like classical music or a museum piece that must be kept exactly as it was 80 years ago. If nothing else, you gotta respect him for that. I do! Looking forward to seeing him perform in Dallas this month.
@ heidikellner - do you actually know Charlie? Charlie is a quiet but personable guy. "...has failed at most things in his life?" what would you know of this? Charlie is a social worker in Duluth, has a degree in philosophy, and is happily married with children - never mind his musical successes. Hardly a "failure". "Lingering odors"? Please! What kind of picture are you trying to paint here... show a little respect for the man.
@gamb0056 I agree, those who speak badly of others need to take a long look at themselves and their own brittle and bitter character. Heidi's comments about Charlie reek of a person devoid of goodness. It seems to me that Heidi sounds like a very mean minded person.
I don't what anyone would make of Heidikellner's description of Charlie. He can't be in that bad a way, he's playing gigs, travelling around, releasing quality stuff. You make remarks about him being smelly? What's going on, you shouldn't really post vids of him and then say he smells...!
Dammit that's nice!

I think I've got all his releases. Cost me a pretty packet, but worth it.
