  • dis song got me into PJ Harvey.

  • this made me cry ...........so beautiful

  • I love this song so much. Known it for years, but I finally saw the film and love it too!

  • amazing :)

  • okay, i'm an idiot, she didn't write it - but we all know she COULD have! ;-)

  • I wish this had made it onto White Chalk - it's fantastic and further demonstrates how incredible and versatile a songwriter she is. Plus it sounds great too :)

  • @starman714 She IS a great writer no doubt... but she didn't write this particular song... =O)

  • Beautiful !! Lovely voice...yet filled with so much pain...this is the song of every human soul !!

  • Miss Harvey... I will love you now. Now & always.

  • I feel like this song was written for me. . .

  • I remember this song very well from the 1995 Thriller/Horror film "The Passion Of Darkly Noon". (Creepy Flick). It took me a while but I finally found this song on a 4 Track EP CD by John Parish & Polly Jean Harvey titled "That Was My Veil". Pretty Rare now days to find. Awesome Haunting Song.

  • Amo esta cancion, me siento tan identificado...

  • amazing ....listening this song come out a lot memory

  • this song reminds me of a song on the buffy episode "Once more with feeling" the one that Tara sings. i mean this in a good way. it has a joss whedon cadence to it

  • Yaaay, I'm so excited - I'm finally FINALLY going to her concert. It was about time:-) If only she ever played this song live ...

  • @ZZqezza at October 27th

Lucerna Hall, Prague, Czech Republic I presume....

good for you since your postings of her rarer work is much appreciated!

  • @treesunrise yep, her first concert in the Czech Republic. She ignored our small and probably not so prestigious country for ages:-)

  • @ZZqezza well i love her and was very disappointed w/the show i saw in san francisco in april. she did the entire new cd (which i don't like) and a couple oldies thrown in like an afterthought.she just stood on one spot the entire time. hopefully the show will be better for you. i've been so happy with the postings i've found (mainly from you) on youtube. it's like hearing the polly i love w/all new material and "Let England Shake" was only a bad deeam.

  • @cmaster0007 yeah, Let England Shake is her weakest album in my opinion. For me it lacks everything which I love about Polly. I know that many people will disagree with me since PJ is famous for being a musical chameleon and it's definitely amazing how she constantly develops as an artist and LES is a nice piece of work and I like it but it doesn't touch in the way like her previous stuff do. So I hope that I will not be disappointed as well ...

  • @ZZqezza @ZZqezza i have no problem w/the chameleon aspect, but LES was such a one note LP if you know what I mean. i work at the old town school of folk music in chicago & it seems she was trying to do a folky thing (in her way) but i don't think it worked. and i listen to A LOT of folk at work. in concert i think she should have done "desperate kingdom of love" etc, for the added songs. the only thing she did that i think worked (of her older material) was "Pocket Knife" have fun & report!

  • @ZZqezza First of all a huge thank you for posting all these rare PJ clips! It's great you´ll finally get to see her live too. I saw her twice this summer and wasn't disappointed at all (even though I too don't think LES is one her greatest albums). Just don't expect to see a "rock show". It's more of a concert really and should be appreciated as such. And anyway just seeing her in person on stage is thrilling enough! ;-)

  • @ZZqezza I kinda have to agree with you...

  • @ZZqezza In my very own opinion LES is an album which refers to today's issues from the eye of a woman not in a political way but in an emotional way. I think it is kind of masterpiece and probably one of her best works. But this opinion is just my opinion and I can understand your hesitation. PJ will probably release another album which is more personal sooner and it will also make us feel great again and again. As an artist I really appreciate her newest album which says something for world.

  • angel.

  • Also, where Can I get the song?

  • Tigerstripes Theme Song, poor Warrior..

  • this song gives me chills! It's so beautiful!

  • This song reminds me of Grendel for some reason...

  • Who are you missing?

  • @bobby4u911 you...

  • @sweetdalyana Well...I miss you too...like the desert misses the rain....:-*

  • who will ever love me?i miss you..........

  • big pj harvey fan but only just discovered this song

    wheres it from??? heartbreaking stuff!

  • @nicholasdonaldson124 Its from the film soundtrack to the film 'the Passion of Darkly Noon', interesting sort of quasi lynchian piece of work.

  • i am a monster

  • So nice.

  • Poeta argentina Alejandra Pizarnik ! poeta poesia poeta poesia poeta poesia !!!!!

  • Satisfaction did not do much for me! But the last two cuts she hooked me good.

  • SO SWEET *

  • I think everyone is once to be a monster that wants to hide in the forest. The problem is to pull itself back from the swampy forest. But it's possible, Baron Münchausen has done it too! ;D;D;D

  • juste sublime, une chançon magnifique, a la fois dans les paroles et dans le son

  • This reminds me of the story of the Minotaur

  • @ZZqezza

    Hi!

can you send me this song, please?...

    thank you :)

  • never heard this. good shit.

  • Beautiful!

  • mad dykish

  • a silvia,mica,isa e me!

  • love it....i have been following that woman`s work for over 10 years and never had enough of her...never ever will..i guess....;)

  • @gordrulez PJ Harvey is an incredibly versatile and talented songwriter. Her musical career has spanned over 20 years and many genres. Like ZZqezza said, the entire Album White chalk is sort of in this style. Some of her music is alternative rock, some is even more chill and downtempo. Personally, I'm adaptable enough to enjoy all of her music, if you're just looking for one particular vocal style, go listen to Celine Dion.

  • if anyone reads this can you recommend me similar songs by her or other artists? i love the vibe here. please send me a msg with some recommendations!!!

  • @gordrulez Try her album White Chalk - this whole album is very similar to this style of singing and the songs are not lousy at all

  • @ZZqezza It is a bit of an acquired taste.. I liked PJ as rockchick. Now i think she's the best/most intersting female artist of the past 20 yrs :-) There is a LetEnglandShake youtubechannel

  • @gordrulez Im sorry you feel that way...this is a very beautiful song yes.. but she is a very gifted woman...and has many layers and depth`s.... .she has so much to offer musically and lyrically, on many levels of various emotions.. and a different flavor of music and expression to suit each...I LOVE HER !!! : ) peace n love

  • @sunchilde68 prove it then. tell me what other comparable songs she has. i clicked a couple of the ones that had the most hits and was shocked at how crap they were. so i stopped browsing her. it was enough to make me think she's a one-hit wonder with this her only decent song.

  • @gordrulez I would have to agree with you. I tried some of her others too, but I was deeply dissapointed. I think you will like Rachael Yamagata (I just remembered of her). Try her songs (Black Roses Red, Be Be Your Love, Elephants..), I think they are deautiful. ;)

  • @gordrulez try the white chalk album! hope you like it =)

  • @gordrulez thats what i said after listeining to "good fortune" 15 years ago.

i still come around looking for her regularly!

  • @gordrulez I answer in Italian: non capisci un ca**o

  • @gordrulez your musical range is not as broad as Ms. Harvey's. ANd I don't like this song because it hurts to hear that she felt this way. She does have soft songs, but you'll have to listen for them. Her latest album toned-down or try “Stories From the City…” Some songs get you after more than one listen. I think because she is so authentic with her feelings and lyrics. She DEFINATELY influenced a lot of musicians from the 1990s. In my years of music, I think she's a most unique talent.

  • @4thatfilm

Then you might be pleased to learn that PJ Harvey didn't write this. The lyrics were written by Philip Ridley for the film 'The Passion Of Darkly Noon'.

  • @gordrulez You do not ever quickly browse her music PERIOD.........Fuck your quickly browsing assumptions.

  • @gordrulez its called being talented and actually making your own music, go listen to top 40 if you want all songs of an artist to sound exactly the same

  • @ZZqezza could you send it to me too?

  • I love her voice! Its like a disembodied spirit...

  • why PJ's song is so true?

  • Love PJ... She's got such a sit-alone-cry-drink-smoke-and-think type of voice...

  • @ZZqezza If you could do the same for me it would be the sum of earthly bliss.

  • This is a great song. I recall there was a video of this song but set to scenes of Interview With the Vampire. It was quite well setup, but appears to have disappeared from Youtube.

  • Terrible things? yeh, i've been there alright..

  • omg she has totally out done herself! wow I wish I could like get a tattoo of this but it`s not visual it`s musical.

  • omg I love this song so much!

  • So beautiful and tragic

  • Who will ever love me?

    Who will say to me

"You are my desire, I set you free?"

  • What a weird chickadee but such a beautiful voice!~

  • I want this song too , can you send it to me too ?

  • this song kills me

  • I desperately want Antony to cover this song

  • Thankyou babes

  • Back in 97 a group called Sunscreem vs Push covered this, but they called it Please save me. They turned it into a bit of a goth club track, wonderful but PJ Harveys' original is just sublime.

  • This is the song it sings.....who will love me now, who will ever love me......

Sometimes we all do terrible things. We are all monsters. Love will rescue any who let it. PJ is the messenger of love

  • I love that song, did she wrote it ? It also appears in a french movie called "ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train".

  • all you can say is wow. pj harvey. another deep song. " And it looks so very much like me"

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • This song is good and a Great film!

I watched it around 2001 on TV and remember being really into the film.

I'd forgot all about it untill i recently watched it again, still a great film! 5 stars

  • @Barkush A film!!! I am a great fan of Polly's I did not know she made a film. I do not live in the uk any more. What is the name of the film please?

  • Comment removed

  • @somkiddy

I don't think she made the film, but the song is featured in the film " The Passion of Darkly Noon " starring Brendan Fraser and Ashley Judd.

It is a good film though!

This song is used as the end credits come up at the end of the film, great song and it fit's in perfect with the film. :)

  • @Barkermush Philip Ridley made it - fucking GENIUS, love him to death xD

  • @Barkermush I remember watching that film just once when I was a kid, then sitting all the way through the credits just listening to this song, utterly entranced..... Now, years later I find it again. ^_^ I love the internet.

  • I gave up trying to find this film on DVD. I watched Passion Of Darkly Noon on tv years ago and thought it was amazing.

  • Beautiful!! She's so fucking versatile, so much talent. I love you PJ. <3

  • Nice.

  • The song was written by Nick Bicat and Philip Ridley specifically for The Passion of Darkly Noon. It is only performed, albeit very very remarkably, by PJ Harvey.

  • i have had this song for years... the movie darkly noon is not such a bad film... this song will be played at my funeral

  • i have this song (i love it ) i am not sure how i got it. i do believe it's a non album song!

  • Where would I find this, is it a b side?

  • it's from Passion of Darkly Noon soundtrack

  • Thank you

  • I love how her music can be as sharp as glass and as soft as a lamb.

  • Me! I will love you, Polly!

  • until now i only knew this as a dance track from a george acosta cd

  • This song changed something in me the first time I listened to it. Made me accept and understand the monster in me, the darkness...

She is a true artist. Only real art can touch so deep. All my respects to Ms Harvey!

  • this is song describes how i feel right now. what a beautiful and angelic voice. i cannot stop listening to this.

  • the perfect song for my current mood.

it has done many terrible things.

  • First time I heard this song was at the end of The Passion of Darkly Noon and it has never left me. It's so beautiful haunting........

  • this song f**ks my brain....

anyway.. I can't take it out...

  • Ms Harvey .That's another fine mess you got'n me into.

  • this beautiful

    amaizing

  • In the forest, is a monster

And it looks so very much like me

  • this goes straight trough the heart, beautifull

  • This is beautiful

  • Once again, I am in awe.

  • Oh Polly ! Such beaut'y.

    J.

  • I can't find this song...does anyone know where to get it?

  • It's available on the 'That Was My Veil' single, with PJ and John Parish on the cover (with her arm around his neck). Only available on used market.

  • @alongcomesthewind ahem, limewire.

  • @alongcomesthewind hi it's on an album called Bside and collaborations :)

  • I can't stop listening to this. I'd love to hear the original by Nick Bicat, but I can't find it anywhere.

  • This could perfectly stand as a White Chalk track.

Does anyone know about her b-sides album? where can I find it?

  • thanks!

  • And that was...beautiful. No one can sing as incredibly as her.
