the lyrics show the group trying to come to grips with the reality of late seventies, me generation, materialism while shadowed by the the philosophical hippie ideals of several years ago represented by "the stranger" - i can dig it.....
Definitely a great song, what a shame you don't come across this song on the radio all that often considering this was a fairly big hit for them back in the late 1970s
