@FsxCaptainLukas There are about 60,000 people living in Greenland and there is only 120km of road so to get from village to village the have to go by air. But most of the air traffic is from tourists and scientists. The are loads of hiking trails and mountain climbing and it's a really beautiful place. I'd really like to go there one day.
@HMC200 The first airport I believe was Nuuk (Godthab). The aircraft taking off from it was a 757, which were based at Nuuk and flew to Copenhagen, before Air Greenland axed the Nuuk-Copenhagen route, and the 757 was put into storage. (That leaves the only international scheduled route (apart from Iceland flights) as the Kangerlussuaq-Copenhagen route, flown by an A330)
I remember this landing as I was the person on duty in the TOWER. BGBW is uncontrolled Aerodrome, only AFIS (Aerodrome Flight INformation Service) Now I work at FIC (Flight INformation Center) BGGL.... Loving aviation in Greenland.
that is some beautiful terrain and weather, but tricky and dangerous as well. I love the Dash-7, such a beautifully versatile aircraft. A great video overall I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The stopping distance of the Dash 7 is incredible. I have flown on the venerable old Twin Otter a few times and love them, but never on a Dash 7 or 8. Greenland looks beautiful too. Been wanting to visit there for years.
and the old dash7, the old girl still flys. i think rocky mountin airways was the first firm order, for these planes. i use to love looking them over in bos. are they still used in s.t.o.l type of airports.and they have longer range then even the new dash 8-400s i think, its like 1300nm i think.
I'm not the user for this video but I want to thx you guys for no negative comments about how this material was fake and so forth and also thx "JustPlanes"for sharing this vid!!!
This is my favourite video so far from just planes.......I didn't think anyone would still be using the good old dash 7........

Can they really fill up an A330? I mean how many people live on Greenland? Two, three maybe?

GL is one of the few remaining DH7 operators. Too bad, But it's very costly to run.

Some damned good "seat of the pants" hands on flying from the Greenland crews. They handle the Dash as if it were a Cessna 172. Great work guys!
