so imma assume you like trains? honestly im only watching your vids because i live in hardwick and its pretty cool to see things on youtube that i know right where they are
Why is it that in the first video that u put ur camera so close the tracks? It's kind of funny how u saw a hot axle almost starting a fire on one of those trains, but u urself could of caused a defect if your camera was to get caught up in the wheels of that 1st train that went by u. That axle was smoking pretty bad though. And were those old NS units pulling those trains?
The camera you're using here has much better quality than your "new camera." I'm not sure if it's the same camera or not but the quality here is much better. BTW the horn is a Nathan K5LA.
its just brake friction...it happens all the time....i see it all the time when im working. if it was a bad ankle the car would have been taken out of the consist to be repaired
Nice Job Cory! Lucky for them you were there filming or they may have had a bad derailment on their hands. You better bring a bucket of water w/you next time, just in case. :-)
that was a great thing you did. I am currently a conductor trainee on New Jersey Transit. We dont always know whats happening underneath. You may have prevented a serious accident.
Thats cool Us railfans have to look out for the railroads to make sure nothing bad happens. I had to report a dfect like this one time on the Union Pacific. K5LA the best. What happened to the other 2 engines havnt seen them in awhile. 5 Stars!
i like this video. what happen at the beginning? it looks like your camera tipped over.

Are there hotbox detectors along that track? It didn't look like a mainline, which would have them every 10 or 20 miles.

@decline2state its a shortline!

Hot axle or "hotbox" - not a big deal. U just radio it in and drop it off at the next siding. The engineer can usually feel when an axle goes bad.

I see most of the smoke was coming from the first boxcar and near the engine. It was probably the first axle that was bad.
skyman2002fanclub 3 years ago
it WAS, did you click more info?
