Pixar is so much better then Dreamworks,becuse they don't make thier movies all about popculture refnrence but still the first sherk and how to train your dragon and Megamind was my three fav of Dreamworks and the onliy good movies that they did.

when is traditional animation going to come back.... 3d is ok but its just something about it that seems generic a tad bit... i like a combo of both but.. 3d alone has become kinda a trend that every studio is just following.. story is most important but animation wise i think we need to revisit our roots abit more, ... its like comparing a human to a puppet., traditional art has that human touch, that extra work with potential room for error that simulates life better then a pc clicking away.

@themaniusedtob but 3d animation still takes as much as traditional because the animators really just poor there hearts into it but yes traditional animation is still legendary but with new technolgies you can do stuff with the you couldn't achieve in 2d cell animated films its not just clicking on a pc.

There's a california summer program called csusummerarts

and a blog called SPLINE DOCTORS to keep in touch with what's going on. email the people, be SUPER NICE, follow-up and tell them you're in highschool. If you're consistent and VERY KIND, many will take the time to speak to highschool student and college student. ask them for advice to start off.

also, go to studio websites and directly call/email studios, again tell them you're in highschool & seek advice. and BE NICE!

if your watching this and you want to be a " PIXAR " artist or animator but don't know how to go about it . I will say that it is like all other forms of art it takes professional dedication ! All of these artists and animators all have the same story . They lived there art long before they ever got a job . learn to draw , learn to paint ...learn 3d and take your work to places like cgtalk and allow yourself to be critiqed by your peers . Find the best school and do what it takes to get in !

The two Kings of Feature Animation (Disney and Pixar) just make the greatest animated movies.

Disney knows how to adapt an original story and make it FANTASTIC.
