Don't bag on me or nothing but this is the first Kiss song I've ever heard of and I'm wondering do they always channel the Beatles? This sounds like something the fab four would sing.
back in the new york groove? so, you're back in the scum-infested, isolating, dead-inside, only-touch-with-nature-is-poor-manmade-substitutes, overcrowded, pollution-ridden, crime-riddled, noisy-at-best, self-important-to-the-point-of-decaying-parody, humanity-showing-only-when-something-like-9/11-occurs, concrete jungle shithole groove? nice...congratulations, most softcore band ever
@3cpo2u Ummm, most of their songs were played out of standard E? One of the greatest bands? Hardly. But I loved 'em as a kid....KISS Originals was the best album set ever!
@Hellzyead Hey man don't be so quick to throw everyone New Yorker in a box and judge them....every city has its faults and strengths. You're just judging something based on its reputation or appearance.
@Hellzyead I know what you mean despite your haters.... You're talking conspiracy theory ....Hence and probably why this song was put in GTA IV in a sarcastic manner just like all the other messages are delivered in that game so you slap yourself in the face and wake the fuck up!I'm with you man and Eveneiedeg and his ten "likes" can go suck some "naive" dicks at a "medium" pace!
@Hellzyead bitch go back to ur barn and leave the best city in the world alone. also new york is 6th safest city in america. im tired of how people say how unsafe new york is. im suprised you have a computer since u prob live in some farm in the middle of nowhere where the biggest crime there is cow-tipping. id like to see if your hometown comes anywhere near new york.
tommy thayer has restored my faith in life of fucking around on my guitar and learning my heros music and playing style. what a fucking break that must be. haha
Hello originally did the song. It wasn't written by anyone in the group either but it wasn't performed or recorded by anyone but Hello until Ace did it. Part of the confusion is that if you listen closely, Hello's lyrics are different. Vrs 1 "A town of stone grows to the sky, its out of sight, in the fading light" vrs #2 "Tell you where I'll stop at third and forty-three, Dance into the night, its gonna be extacy. This day was meant for me."
Radioactive from Gene, and this song are probably the only good tunes of the entire 4 albums. It was strictly a marketing deal. If they would have brought the 32 songs (4 8 track albums!), 24 would have hit the cutting room floor.
@happyaschristmas As a kid I had the Gene album because Gene looked coolest. As an adult I'd pick Frehley's album easy. Radioactive just doesn't hold up after 30 years like NYG does.
well I don't listen to em anymore. its too bad everyone is not the ultimate fan like you but there are people who don't like Kiss. We are all different, thats what makes us human.
you know what, I wouldn't worry about it. believe it or not I use to be a big metal head when I was a teenager & kiss was my favorite group. I fortunately got to see them in makeup when they made their comeback psycho circus tour.
@kainindia Um... this isn't a cover, this is Ace Frehley's original from the KISS Frehley "solo" album. It always pissed Gene off that Ace had the only radio hit off the 4 lp's.
@kainindia You are absolutely correct. "New York Groove" is a song written by Russ Ballard and first recorded by Hello in 1975 and later by Ace Frehley in 1978.
Ace is the best guitarist in the world!! I love that song!! :) Tommy isn't as good... I hope he will never do New York Groove :O It's Ace's song!! I miss him ... </3
this was in 1978 when all four kiss members released solo kiss albums all at once ace was the only one to get into the top 10 with this song, the other albums sucked... it was 1978 not 82 or 83.
This song is by Ace Frehlry, guitarist for KISS. This was back in 1982-1983 after they all had decided to pursue solo projects. This is not "KISS" per se.
